View Full Version : 7 Celebrities and the Awful Stuff You Forgot They Did
I'm not sure that I want to post the Cracked (http://www.cracked.com/article/96_7-beloved-celebrities-awful-****-you-forgot-they-did_p2) article because the actual name of this article contains more salty words than what I used in the title headline. Anyway:
7. Dr. Dre Kicked the Stuffing Out of a Woman
6. Tim Allen Dealt Mess Loads of Cocaine, Ratted Out All His Colleagues
5. Elvis Costello Called James Brown and Ray Charles The N Word
4. Johnny Cash Wiped Out an Entire Species (Almost)
3. Marvin Harrison is Terrifying
2. Chuck Berry: Amateur Voyeur
1. Rick James: Music, Crack Pipe Torture Innovator
I'll add Matthew Broderick to the list, who if I'm not mistaken, actually contributed to the deaths of two people in an automobile accident in Ireland. Clark Gable (http://www.snopes.com/movies/actors/gable2.asp) also allegedly killed somebody while driving (although this story is apparently, an urban legend).
Kobe Bryant is another name that instantly popped in my head. After winning the NBA's MVP award and leading the Lakers to a World Championship, it's pretty easy to forget that the guy was about six years ago, accused of rape and admitted to have cheated on his wife (with said accuser).
How about Jon Landis & Steven Spielberg (inadvertantly) causing the death of Vic Morrow and 2 children during the making of Twilight Zone: The Movie.
And didn't Brandy kill a woman in a car accident?

He was also pretty banged up in that accident and was in the hospital for a long time recovering. His fiancee at the time, Jennifer Grey, was in the passenger seat. When he woke up he - rather conveniently - had no memory of the accident.

Buddy Holly deciding to charter a plane to get some laundry done
Sam Cooke taking a woman (who may have been a prostitute) to a fleabag hotel for a sexual reandevous (or however you spell it)
Berry Gordy getting involved with Diana Ross (he got so wrapped up in her he decided to move his company to Hollywood to make her a star, and hence lost sight of the great music he was doing in Detroit).
Dennis Wilson picking up a couple of hitchhikers in the summer of 1968.
Elvis Presley signing on with Tom Parker
The Rolling Stones taking the advice of the Grateful Dead and hiring Hells Angels to do security for them.

MrCleveland 09-17-2009, 07:38 PM Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle
He was accused of raping Virginia Rappe. This ruined Arbuckle's career and he never recovered from the scandal and died at a young age of 46 in the year 1933.
spunkygirl 09-17-2009, 07:45 PM 4. Johnny Cash Wiped Out an Entire Species (Almost)
I'm confused LOL
Chocoholic 09-17-2009, 08:07 PM Who was that actress who killed a little boy in a crosswalk while talking on a cellphone? She got off with a slap on the wrist, didn't she?
browneyes106 09-17-2009, 09:49 PM Who was that actress who killed a little boy in a crosswalk while talking on a cellphone? She got off with a slap on the wrist, didn't she?
That was Rebecca Gayheart.
browneyes106 09-17-2009, 09:55 PM Director John Singleton was also involved in an car accident in which he hit a man that died. I really don't try to judge John Singleton, Rebecca Gayheart, Brandy or Matthew Broderick for the accidents they were responsible for because a friend of my parents accidentally hit an elderely man sweeping a road during a snowstorm. My parents' friend hit a patch of ice while driving and he hit the man. He was disturbed for a long time. The man's family tried to sue him but there case was thrown mainly due to road conditions and the fact that the man was trying to sweep snow off a road. In those types of situations the driver suffers too.

Funny you should say that...because Dennis Wilson and the Beach Boys KNEW the mass murderer Charles Manson...no joke!
catlover79 09-18-2009, 12:28 AM I'm confused LOL
Supposedly he started a huge forest fire back in the mid-60s. That's what I think the reference here is.
LuLu Rogers 09-18-2009, 12:51 AM Funny you should say that...because Dennis Wilson and the Beach Boys KNEW the mass murderer Charles Manson...no joke!
Yes they did, they even played a song he wrote. At the time though, they had no idea he was crazy enough to kill people.

I didn't know this until fairly recently, but Vic Morrow is Jennifer Jason Leigh's dad.
Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle
He was accused of raping Virginia Rappe. This ruined Arbuckle's career and he never recovered from the scandal and died at a young age of 46 in the year 1933.
I wouldn't necessarily consider Fatty Arbuckle for this particular list (if Fatty was never able to recover from the scandal). This list is more concentrated on celebrities who were still able to somewhat shake of a decidingly negative figment of their past.
Marv Albert to me, could also be added to the list. Marv today, is the lead NBA play-by-play man for TNT and is the lead NFL play-by-play man on Westwood One Radio (formally CBS Radio Sports). Even though, Marv is one of the best sports announcers ever, it was just over 10 years ago that NBC fired him and he was publically humilated due to a damning sex scandal (basically, Marv was made out to be a kinky back biter, with a taste for wearing women's garments).

Also isn't this list supposed to be about the awful things that celebrites have actually done. Fatty Arbuckle didn't rape that girl or cause her death.
Tweety 09-18-2009, 06:49 AM Funny you should say that...because Dennis Wilson and the Beach Boys KNEW the mass murderer Charles Manson...no joke!
Very true...in fact, IIRC, Dennis put the Manson clan up in his home for a brief time. I think Dennis was the one who really became friends with the Manson gang. I don't know how much the other BB's hung out with them.
JamesG 09-18-2009, 07:04 AM Director Victor Salva is a convicted child molester of five counts of sexual relations video-taped with a 12-year-old boy from the late 1980s.
He is most known for directing Powder and the Jeepers Creepers series and still writes and directs movies today.
MickeyMac 09-18-2009, 11:26 AM Yes they did, they even played a song he wrote. At the time though, they had no idea he was crazy enough to kill people.
The song is "Never Learn Not To Love", which is a great tune. It was originally called "Cease To Exist". Dennis Wilson changed a few words and Manson was furious. It was used as B side to the single "Bluebirds Over The Mountain", and becuase of the Beach Boys dwindling popularity in 1968 it never got higher than 61 on the charts.
Anyhow here is the tune

For some reason...he (Fatty Arbuckle) just popped into my mind when this list was made.

I don't think Brian Wilson hung-out with Manson since he was drugged-out at the time. And Mike Love doesn't hang-out with anyone after he went to India.
Funny you should say that...because Dennis Wilson and the Beach Boys KNEW the mass murderer Charles Manson...no joke!
I think that was kind of the point. The two hitchikers Dennis picked up were Ella Bailey and Patricia Krenwinkel, who later brought Charlie over to his house.
