-How'd You Get So Rich
Premiered Wednesday, August 5 at 10PM
Wednesdays at 10pm ET/PT thru Sept. 9
Sure, the economy is in the tank, but like it or not, there are still millionaires out there -- and they didn't all get rich by stealing your money (thanks for nothing, Wall Street). They made their fortunes by inventing Billy Bob Teeth and Butt Paste. Enter Joan Rivers and her money-obsessed new show, How'd You Get So Rich?
We've all driven by lavish mansions and wondered, 'Who the hell lives there?' Rivers -- no slouch in the indulgence department -- leaves no stone unturned in getting to the story behind the moneybags who walk, or rather drive their Ferraris, among us.
Rivers is a titan of comedy and show business, unafraid to poke fun at herself or anyone (famous or not) who crosses her path. Because of this bravado, she's often been viewed as a polarizing force in the entertainment business. Watch as the ruthless funny lady pesters the mega-wealthy about how they made their fortunes -- and more importantly, how they spend it.
(Various encores will air throughout the week)

I will say TV Land is getting better. They always seem to get better around this time of the year, lol. Roseanne is down to 1 night in primetime, and instead of just Roseanne and Cosby getting primetime marathons, Andy and MASH also get one, which is nice to see.

Daytime isn't too bad, and at least we get Three's Company back at 4am. Too bad TV Land didn't give Three's Company a primetime marathon, though. It hasn't aired in primetime in years and should be given another chance. I'd much rather watch TC over MASH or Andy anyday.

Still, I wish TV Land would do something to get Married with Children and Home Improvement over.

No matter how much Tv land tries to break away from Andy Friffith, they're stuck with it I guess as I guess it's still one of their higher rated shows. Unfortunately it's put on so much at the expense of many of their other shows.

If they really wanted to do something different (which I know they would not do), they would license a few eps. of the Pvt. benjamin TV show to air along with the movie.

I wish MWC would encore 12-1am instead of 12-3am Roseanne. Roseanne can keep 1-3am.

I'm starting to think I'm the only one that can't stand that show. I'd rather watch Roseanne.

Why do they not want to air Andy Griffith on the weekday schedule? I don't get it. Beverly Hillbillies airs 4 times a day, and I don't think it did as well.

tvparadise
08-13-2009, 12:05 PM
Like it. But ditch Hillbillies at 7pm/7:30pm and put Andy Griffith there. I don't get why Andy doesn't air weekdays. Especially with the Saturday marathon now being replaced by MWC. If they are going to air Hillbillies at 7pm, they should replace its 1pm airing with Hogan's Heroes or something like that.

I think it would also be cool if they did a Three's Company block on Saturday nights from 10pm - 12am like they do with M*A*S*H on Sundays. Cosby Show already gets a marathon during the week.

This schedule would be much better. No show would get more than two hours on weekdays, encores of reality shows and movies would be limited to one a week, and an hour of infomercials would be cut. Too bad TVLand won't use this schedule since all they care about is Roseanne, Married with Children, and reality shows.

If they're going to go ahead with MWC, etc, what is the problem with Home Improvement? Spike (it wouldn't fit great anyway) isn't interested, Nick at Nite seems done with it, why doesn't TV Land want to air it? That is one recent show I'd like to at least see on at night. I don't understand.

JulieSomoski
08-15-2009, 10:55 PM
clj, I thought you were a supporter of MWC moving to TV Land permanently? I don't see why you have a problem with it coming over. Airing weeknights 8-9pm is very reasonable. Having 4 different primetime marathons Monday-Thursday also adds more variety. And, Roseanne is cut back even more. So far, I think TV Land is continuing to get better, and this new schedule is decent.

I don't care for the show, but I thought and continue to think it would be a decent fit for PRIME when I talked about it being on TV Land. I was just stating earlier that I guess I'm missing the hype that the show gets. I will add, though, that I'm irritated the weekday Andy Griffith from 7-9pm is cancelled. Married needs to air in PRIME. It should air after 9pm or either the block needs to be extended to 8pm (primetime is 8-11pm, why was it not at 8pm anyway?).

It fits with PRIME, if they extend PRIME back to 8pm once again. IMO, they need to axe the blocks and just have a straight forward, weekly schedule. Andy at 8pm, Cosby at 9pm, MWC at 10pm, Roseanne 11pm or something like that. I don't see what TV Land has against doing that.

clj2
08-16-2009, 11:20 AM
The schedule gets so messed up with those originals and movies. They don't want to pre-empt a show for a whole night so I think that's why they have the marathon things. I would suggest this (PRIME 9-12am if that's when they want it):

8-9PM Andy Griffith
9-10PM Home Improvement (new for fall)
10-11PM Married With Children
11-12AM Roseanne
12-1AM The Cosby Show

then go back to "regular" programming. Cosby Show doesn't have to be considered Prime IMO....it's 25 years old.

I doubt it'll be more Roseanne. Maybe another movie? I don't care for MWC as a show, so I don't care if it's leaving, but I agree it's bad for PRIME. Has anyone else noticed the new promos, etc for PRIME?

Yes, and they're actually very good. What a shame that TV Land has to lose this show once again. They might as well just put an end to PRIME now.

I agree, and the promos are good. MWC seemed to be the show that PRIME needed. The only other PRIME-type show airing during it is Roseanne, and does it do well enough to replace the MWC airings? I hope they don't air it again like they did during the summer.

When MWC leaves it will be almost exactly one year since PRIME launched. They just need to throw in the towel.
