My full name is Stephanie Michelle and I go by Michelle - my parents have called me Michelle since day one. I like the name "Michelle" - I think it suits me and I like the soft sound of the "ch" in the middle.

I like the name Stephanie but I would never want friends or family to address me by that name, which they wouldn't do anyway. Since I was always called Michelle since the day I was born, it wouldn't feel right, even though it's my first name.

In a way I don't like my name but in another way I like it. My name gets misprounced a lot but it's not a common name and I sort of like that.

Michelle is also my cousins name. She is such a cool person and I love her laugh. I knew another Michelle in High School and she was a cool person too.

As far as my name, I do like it. I think it fits me perfectly and I could not see being named anything else. :)

I answer the phone all day at work and I swear it never fails... at least once during the day, I'll answer with my name (obviously using the correct pronunciation!) and the person on the other end will repeat it WRONG! Irritates the holy crap out of me. I know it's stupid, but it seriously does. Sometimes I will hesitate before addressing someone by name, for fear of pronouncing it wrong. I've had to deal with the mispronunciation of my name my whole life. My husband has even done it! And he has NO excuse!!:lol:

Yeah, it's grown on me. When I was a kid I thought it was old fashioned because I went to school with a bunch of Heathers and Melissas and Jessicas and such. No biggie now though.

AMEN to that! Everytime someone reads my name, they always (and I mean ALWAYS) pronounce it "Ann-dre-ah". I guess that is the 'accepted' pronunciation or something, and usually I just blow it off, but sometimes I'll correct them, depending on my mood.

I feel you...my name isn't Catherine/Cathleen either, but a lot of people over the years have assumed it was.

Please take no offense, but maybe people aren't mispronouncing it; but you are. I've known quite a few Andreas in my life, and every one of them pronounced it ANN-DREE-A. Even if it's French or something, people pronounce names and words phonetically. Have you ever considered changing the spelling to Ondreeah? That way, people will get it right. Just saying, since it bothers you so much. People are always going to pronounce your name the way it's spelled. That's only natural.

Yes I love my name. If I didn't have the name Kyle, their wouldn't be any me. I think your first name and personality/who you are, carry around and stay with each other. It's like a bond they share. What I like, What I am, Who I am, how I am- everything that is me, that is all in my name, and I'm so glad I have it. I like my middle name as well :).

Really! well my friend was named after Fallon from Dynasty :lol: I guess it's common for people to name their kids after soap opera stars. Hehe.

Yeah, I do now, but I used to hate it when I was younger. The pronunciation of my name, Tara, is TAR-RAH, which sounds more unique, because it not as popular as pronouncing it, TER-RAH; which is the more common pronunciation.
