I get tired of hearing the talking heads say that he made a mistake and paid his debt to society. Killing dogs is not a mistake. :rolleyes: And just because he paid his debt doesn't mean he should be put back into the NFL. I'd have a hard time rooting for him remembering what he did. If he ever became a member of the Cowboys, I'd boo him every time he got the ball. I do think he'll be reinstated though.

We seem to give celebrities more second chances though. If nobody thought Vick couldn't help an NFL team, nobody would care. I used to be a big Vick fan but no more. I don't even think he's that great of a QB. He's a good athlete but he continues to flop as QB. I think he's going to be more problem then he's worth to any team that gives him a chance.

If it had been a person that he killed, I wonder if he'd even be considered for reinstatement. I just hope the Seahawks new coach isn't stupid enough to take him, if in fact he is reinstated. The Cowboys or ANY team for that matter.

Didn't Pete Rose get himself banned from baseball for some tax thing or something like that? That's government related, but this is murder; what Michael Vick has done. Far FAR worse in my book.

Yes. Everybody makes mistakes, and I can name a bunch of NFL issues that teams or players, where they have done something wrong and haven't gotten suspended or anything of that matter. I think he deserves a second chance.

Plus, the dog fighting is a big culture event in the South. It's not like Michael Vick is the only guy in America that was doing this. It's only because his life is put on a pedistool because he is an athlete & a celebrity. Their is also pit fighting, or **** fighting over in PR. Yes he should be reinstated. Goodell is an idiot though, so who knows if he'll get reinstated ever again.

I agree man. Vick was a great athlete and not only does he deserve a second chance, he would work in the wild cat offense, either backing up Tom Brady in New England, maybe becoming a backup in Miami or working the system somewhere else, if he gets reinstated this year or next. I never liked the guy personally. But that doesn't take away from his talent & being a great athlete too.

Yes, Pete Rose was banned from MLB for betting on it while he was still playing. But I wouldn't be surprised if Selig or some idiot sooner or later reinstates him. ohno:

I was listening to Mike & Mike in the morning and they were talking about this. They said if they had done the same thing that Michael Vick had done that ESPN would not hire them back. It would be a public relations nightmare. They said they have a moral clause in their contract and they would have broken it.

He is better then 99% of backups in the NFL..name me 5 backup QBs...screw it, he is better then most of the starting QBs in the NFL currently...

I would take him over Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels, Jason Campbell, Rex Grossman, any Detroit Lions QB (including Stafford, he hasn't played one quarter, let alone one game or season), whoever the Bucs have, the starter for the 49ers, the Seahawks starting QB, the Browns starting QB, the Texans QB and better then plenty more- a few starters and backups.

btw, you know half of the QBs in the NFL are a joke when I can't even name the starting QBs for some teams, not to mention some of those teams in that mix suck anyway.....

vick would be on a contending, # 1 team, if New England or Miami signed him....

Suspended quarterback Michael Vick reportedly met Wednesday with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss what is anticipated to be a conditional reinstatement into the league, possibly as soon as next week.

One NFL source told FanHouse on Thursday that if Vick satisfies the commissioner's requirements for reinstatement, it's expected that he will receive at least a four-game suspension to start the 2009 season, but that Goodell may allow Vick to join a team in training camp.

The catch: no NFL team has expressed any interest in signing the newly-freed Vick to a contract.

The NFL would not confirm the meeting. "We have been consistent in saying that we are not going to comment on the details of the review process while it is taking place." NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello told FanHouse.

Goodell said earlier this week he wanted to resolve the issue of Vick's possible reinstatement to the NFL, "as soon as possible," but the commissioner did not say when that might occur. Goodell also has said he needs to see signs of genuine remorse from the quarterback, as well as evidence that Vick has made changes in his lifestyle before he permits the former Atlanta Falcons star to re-enter the NFL.

SI.com, citing sources, said Vick and Goodell were spotted leaving the security offices of Buckley Peterson Global Inc. in Allendale, N.J. about 4 p.m. ET Wednesday. Vick was described as being accompanied with a "huge" entourage, and driving away from the building in a Cadillac Escalade. Goodell was seen leaving about 10 minutes later. Both were described as looking somber.

Vick lawyer denies strip club reports

AP)—Michael Vick’s lawyer vehemently denied reports Thursday that the suspended NFL star spent his first night of freedom from federal custody at a Virginia Beach strip club.

“It is absolutely, categorically false,” Lawrence Woodward told The Associated Press.

An Internet blog reported that Vick was seen at the strip club Atlantis on Monday night, hours after he completed his 23-month sentence for operating a dogfighting ring. Woodward said Vick was not in Virginia Beach that night and has not been to any strip club.

“He has been spending time with his family and friends and working with his advisers on legal matters and trying to get back to playing football,” Woodward said.

Vick also denied the reports in an interview with the Daily Press of Newport News.

“That’s crazy,” he told his hometown newspaper. “That is the last place on my mind. I was out of town. I guess it’s just someone trying to be hurtful.”

Vick, 29, is expected to meet soon with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in hopes of getting his suspension lifted. Goodell has said Vick needs to show genuine remorse and that he has changed.

The commissioner said Tuesday that he hoped to make a decision “in the near future.” NFL training camps open for veterans next week.

The blog thebiglead.com, which some newspapers referenced on their Web sites, quoted a DJ who refused to be identified as saying Vick was at Atlantis with NBA free agent Allen Iverson.

Leon Rose, Iverson’s agent, said the basketball star hasn’t seen Vick since the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback’s release from prison.

The voice mailbox at Atlantis was full and unable to accept messages Thursday.

Vick served most of his sentence at the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., before being transferred to home confinement in late May. The electronic monitor he wore on his ankle during two months of home confinement in Hampton was removed Monday morning, freeing Vick from federal custody.
