Law enforcement sources tell TMZ LeVar Burton was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles early yesterday evening.

We're told Burton -- who hosted "Reading Rainbow" and starred in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Roots" -- collided with a car making a left turn at the intersection of Laurel Ave. and Beverly Blvd. at around 7:30 PM PT.

Our sources say Burton and the other driver were both taken to a local hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.

He hasn't posted anyting on his twitter page since yesterday. I hope he's okay.

I sure he is ok I think he is just recovering from The Car Accident that he was in.

That's what went through my mind when I read about his accident. I'm glad that he is okay and wasn't seriously hurt,
