The topic is fine where it's at but I personally think it should've been started in the music forum.

I'm surprised no one (as of this writing) is broadcasting The Wiz. Michael's performance as The Scarecrow was far and away the best part of the movie!!

Pardon me but The Whiz is HORRIBLE and one of the WORST movies ever- lol..horrible remake on top of it. Let's just stick to Michael's music. His acting wasn't bad, just the movie was ****.

I know the movie itself wasn't good but Michael definitely shone. Plus, it was during the making of this movie that he became acquainted with Quincy Jones, who composed the score. The next year came Off the Wall - and the rest is, well, "HIStory". :D

Quincy Jones & MJ were amazing- producer to musician wise. Truly amazing.

Yeah, I have to admit I wasn't crazy about the movie, either,(I think I actually saw it in the movie theater!) but I loved "Ease on Down the Road".

This announcement was too late which is why I missed it. It was posted the same night the tributes were airing so it was no way I was going to see it. Not sure if you had time on Thursday but this thread was posted 30 mins before the first tribute

Solomon, if you can "read," you'll see encore dates/times for each one at the end of each paragraph.

I think TV One is doing a very good job, even though I don't get them. They are top-notch.

Well I saw the 30th Anniversay thing but had no interest. I watched the TV guide tribute on the T guide channel so the only I need to see is the Video tribute on 6/29/09

Yeah, the only one of those 4 left is Diana Ross. Other stars from the movie like Richard Pryor, Mabel King and Theresa Merritt are also gone. Lena Horne is the only other major actor from that film still living - and she's in her 90s!!!
