catlover79 06-17-2009, 11:18 PM The version that ran from Seasons 2 until 6 (I think) was the best. I wasn't a fan of the rocked-up version of the Beverly Ann era, and the first version was cringeworthy at best.

I actually like the rocked-up version the best. Though I know most people would agree with you.
Retro4Life 06-18-2009, 04:27 PM Wow, the Mary Tyler Moore show theme is nowhere to be found...hmm, another list that seems to have been compiled mostly by people who haven't been exposed to much TV before 1980.
And The X-Files and Dragnet?? Those aren't even songs!
TV DVD Fan 06-18-2009, 05:13 PM Gossip Girl? Are they out of their freakin' minds? Where are the REAL good ones like TMTMS (previously mentioned), either of Bob Newhart's shows, Green Acres, Mr. Ed, Family Ties, The Jeffersons, All in the Family? The list goes on and on and on. And I love Family Guy, but its theme song is nowhere near as good as the themes to the aforementioned shows. But this is the world we live in... the one that loves to ignore the real classics.
RoryGilmore 06-18-2009, 06:20 PM I actually like the rocked-up version the best. Though I know most people would agree with you.
I agree with you Mike, I like the rock version better myself.
Some of those surprise me but I do love the Saved By the Bell theme.
Nighthawk76 06-18-2009, 06:42 PM I agree with you Mike, I like the rock version better myself.
You have great taste, Meghan!
ZeldaGilroy 06-18-2009, 07:00 PM I actually like the rocked-up version the best. Though I know most people would agree with you.
I like the version from the last couple of seasons best as well. I think it's really catchy and makes me want to sing along!
The other seasons were okay, but season 1 was horrible!
Zoneboy 06-18-2009, 07:04 PM I wish the original Twilight Zone theme had made it but the #1 choice is good. Some had no business being on that list and there is a connection between The Facts of Life and The Twilight Zone, Can anyone tell me what it is?
RoryGilmore 06-18-2009, 07:31 PM You have great taste, Meghan!
I like to think so, glad someone agrees with me :D
Retro4Life 06-18-2009, 11:30 PM Was Charlotte Rae in a TZ episode?
catlover79 06-18-2009, 11:38 PM Was Charlotte Rae in a TZ episode?
I don't know, but she was in a Barney Miller episode.
Marvo301 06-18-2009, 11:48 PM Was Charlotte Rae in a TZ episode?
No, but Cloris Leachman was! She was in the 1961 episode "It's a Good Life" playing Mrs. Freemont.
Schmoopie 06-19-2009, 04:46 AM That's very cool! I didn't know Alan Thicke had written the theme song to FOL. Learn something new every day on this board! And who says TV isn't educational!!

You're exactly right but that wasn't the one I had in mind. I was thinking of series creator Jenna McMahon who starred in the episode "King Nine Will Not Return"
LoveMrsG 06-20-2009, 03:14 PM I agree with most everybody here. The theme song of seasons 7-9 is my favorite, and I DO CRINGE at Charlotte Rae's version of the song in season 1! I mean, I love Charlotte Rae to death...who couldn't love Mrs. Garrett? But I DO NOT love her singing! Her talents are best kept to acting, NOT singing, IMHO.
LoveMrsG 06-20-2009, 03:18 PM Oh, I almost forgot...I also COMPLETELY agree with whoever was asking where in the world some of the other theme songs were, especially The Jeffersons. Now The Jeffersons theme song, again IMHO, was the GREATEST television theme song EVER...yes, even better than Facts...sorry, guys.

Yeah, the first season theme was pretty bad. I do enjoy the first season episodes though. I'm one of the few who do. Blair seemed like a different character first season though. She was much more snotty. Also, they didn't have the Blair "look" down yet. She didn't have the classy look that she did in the other seasons.

Yeah, I do enjoy the first season episodes a little bit too...except Like Mother, Like Daughter of course! It makes me SOOOOO mad that after Blair caught Monica planning to have an affair with a married man, and after Monica HITS Blair, Mrs. Garrett actually has the gaul to give BLAIR a lecture...talk about a WTF moment! I'd like to give MONICA the lecture and slap Mrs. Garrett in that ep!
RoryGilmore 06-20-2009, 07:14 PM I like the first season too. I loved the addition of Jo but I still really enjoyed Season 1

I like some of the episodes in season 1 and the first season girls are okay. I also love the innocence of Nat and Tootie in season 1 and Blair is a completely different character so that is fun to watch. Still, I need Jo in an ep. for it to truly be FOL for me, so I'd have to say season 1 is my least fav. And the theme song is terrible for season 1 (since this thread was originally about the theme song.) Charlotte Rae is a lovely lady, but her singing voice makes my ears bleed! AAAHHHHH!

Season one has some really good episodes like "Rough Housing", "Running" and "Dieting". The only episode I really don't like is "The Facts of Love". Blair was totally different in that episode. The theme song is bad though from year one.

Growing Pains, Family Ties, and Perfect Strangers theme song should be replace Mash, Dragnet, and Addams Family

I can tolerate "The Facts of Love" yeah Blair wasnt the same in that ep but there are some funny moments. The one I cant stand from Season One is "Molly's Holiday". I love Molly Ringwald as an actress but the character of Molly annoyed the crap outta me.

I like Molly and "Molly's Holiday". What was sort of cool about that episode is that the actor who played Molly's father was the same actor who played Jami Gertz's father in an episode of Square Pegs. Another FOL connection to that epiosde is that Jami's mom was played by Marj Dusay, who played Monica Warner in seasons 2-9.
My biggest problem with "The Facts of Love" besides for Blair being so out of character, is I think the episode is too preachy. I think they really got up on the soap box with that one.

I agree. I always found the character of Molly beyond annoying.
Mr. Television 06-21-2009, 09:40 AM Okay now what's this I'm reading about Mrs. Garett being a bad singer?
FOL has a great theme song. I don't understand why Gossip Girl would be on the list. How many seconds does that song last? So many great ones could have replaced it.

I think the producers probably agreed with you, Monika. Molly appeared in "The New Girl" part 2 at the start of season two and then was gone from the show for good where as Cindy, Sue Ann and Nancy were in several more episodes.

but Molly had the last laugh because she went on to become a big teen star of the 1980's. I wonder if they asked her back when they had that reunion of Cindy, Sue Ann and Nancy in season 8? She was a big star by then. I wonder if she turned them down?

I would say she'd have turned them down.

She probably did. However, that was in 1987 and her film career was just about over by that time. Pretty In Pink came out in 1986, and that was her last real hit.

I don't know. I remember they mentioned Molly's name during that episode. I would imagine they might have because she could have given a boost to the ratings at that time.

True she could've......

So do I. Maybe they automatically figured she'd turn them down.
