View Full Version : What was The Worst Nightmare On Elm Street Movie? Janice Johnson 06-15-2009, 07:20 PM Here are the picks that NOES fgans say are the worst NOES... Which is your "worst"?;) JamesG 06-15-2009, 07:30 PM You forgot to include the third one, Dream Warriors, in your poll. browneyes106 06-15-2009, 07:48 PM I wasn't a big fan of the Dream Child. Nighthawk76 06-15-2009, 08:19 PM The Dream Child was pretty bad. Nighthawk76 06-15-2009, 08:21 PM You forgot to include the third one, Dream Warriors, in your poll. That one was okay. Mostly because Wes Craven was involved somewhat and they also brought Heather back. Mr. Television 06-15-2009, 08:54 PM Freddy vs Jason. I was expecting more. HuntingtonM15 06-15-2009, 09:55 PM Freddy's Revenge. What an awful movie all around. I don't consider Freddy vs. Jason to be part of the NOES series. JamesG 06-15-2009, 10:39 PM Freddy's Revenge. What an awful movie all around. I don't consider Freddy vs. Jason to be part of the NOES series. Don't want to start an argument lol but it is regarded as canon in both franchises. I'm curious to hear why you don't consider it to be. Do you consider it part of Friday the 13th? Nighthawk76 06-15-2009, 10:41 PM I've never seen Freddy Vs. Jason, so I really can't comment on that one. HuntingtonM15 06-15-2009, 10:45 PM Don't want to start an argument lol but it is regarded as canon in both franchises. I'm curious to hear why you don't consider it to be. Do you consider it part of Friday the 13th? Nope, I just consider it a separate film with two villains from different franchises. I personally don't see how it could be considered a new film for either series. I've never seen one definitive answer saying that it's definitely this, or it's definitely that. So, in my opinion, it's not. JamesG 06-15-2009, 10:52 PM I've never seen Freddy Vs. Jason, so I really can't comment on that one. In my opinion the film is just "alright". It wasn't great but it didn't suck. I don't think it lived up to all of the decade of hype that people had when this movie was first rumored. At the end of Jason Goes To Hell (1993) Freddy's glove pulls Jason's mask into hell and since that scene the rumors were rampant. My personal peeve about the film was that Kane Hodder was not brought back to be Jason again. I, as well as a lot of people, were looking forward to seeing Kane Hodder vs. Robert Englund. The official reason given was because they wanted a more sympathetic Jason and Hodder had too intimidating eyes for it. The movie is worth a look. I love the opening scene where Freddy narrates his origins... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2mAiCcfEhc JamesG 06-15-2009, 11:01 PM Nope, I just consider it a separate film with two villains from different franchises. So, in my opinion, it's not. I see what you're saying but to me it is. In Jason Goes To Hell Freddy pulls Jason into hell and in Freddy vs. Jason it shows what happens next. His body is sent out of hell and at the end he "defeats" Freddy. Then some billion years down the road is Jason X. I think it can be understood that Freddy is the reason Jason got released from hell. With that logic, it would make sense for it to be part of the Friday the 13th series. But to me, it's still part of neither. JamesG 06-15-2009, 11:16 PM With that logic, it would make sense for it to be part of the Friday the 13th series. But to me, it's still part of neither. We'll have to take this to the polls... :D Torgo 06-16-2009, 10:56 AM My personal favorite is still New Nightmare, Craven made Freddy a dark character again. As the sequels progressed Freddy became more of a cartoon character than a scary horror villain. I'll always have a special place for Freddy's Revenge only for the fact it was the first Elm Street I saw on the big screen. I voted for Freddy's Dead, but really parts 4, 5, and 6 are really about the same for me. Torgo 06-16-2009, 11:07 AM My personal peeve about the film was that Kane Hodder was not brought back to be Jason again. I, as well as a lot of people, were looking forward to seeing Kane Hodder vs. Robert Englund. The official reason given was because they wanted a more sympathetic Jason and Hodder had too intimidating eyes for it. I personally didn't care if Hodder came back in Freddy vs Jason, IMO he starred in the crappiest sequels. Plus I don't think his performance was any more memorable than the previous actors. The only reason he is remembered so well is because he has played Jason the most, but it could have just as easily been any of the other actors had they agreed to come back. Janice Johnson 06-16-2009, 11:49 AM I didn't put 'Dream Warriors" on the worst list for a reason. :) DW is considered almost as good as NOES original by fans of NOES movies. :) Torgo 06-16-2009, 12:03 PM I didn't put 'Dream Warriors" on the worst list for a reason. :) DW is considered almost as good as NOES original by fans of NOES movies. :) It should still be put up there. Who speaks for all the fans? I know quite a few fans who don't like Dream Warriors(or don't consider it high on the list). And I amongst many others consider New Nightmare to be the good sequel, like I've said before New Nightmare went back to the darker Freddy. Dream Warriors was basically the start of the comical wise-cracking Freddy. The only reason he is remembered so well is because he has played Jason the most, but it could have just as easily been any of the other actors had they agreed to come back. Still, it would have been great if Hodder came back as Jason since he played him consistantly up until that point. JamesG 06-16-2009, 03:56 PM I didn't put 'Dream Warriors" on the worst list for a reason. :) DW is considered almost as good as NOES original by fans of NOES movies. :) Like Torgo said does everyone think that? You should give people the option of choosing from everything and not omit anything because you think everyone likes whatever it is. Janice Johnson 06-18-2009, 08:44 PM To the people who say that Freddy's Revenge was a crappy NOES movie, bear in mind that it has an excuse. FR was the first sequeal, and they probably didn't know how to make a good sequel to the great original NOES. And, it had a male for a lead. The other kick-ass NOES had female characters. Maybe NOES isn't really good with male leads. And Wes did not direct this movie. New line acted on their own. If you pay attention, Dream Warriors really should have been the first sequel since it had nancy and Donald from NOES original and continued with the same story(or really close to it) from NOES. All FR did was have freddy possess a boy. |
