View Full Version : Is there an Actor You Would Like to See Make a Movie Comeback?
Brian Damage 06-15-2009, 12:13 AM An actor that was once a big star, but no longer is because of box office flops, drugs, or just quit. Is there any actor you would like to see make a comeback?
For example, John Travolta made a HUGE comeback as Vincent Vega in Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction."
Nighthawk76 06-15-2009, 12:18 AM Robert De Niro. Sure he's still a big star, but what has he made over the last 10 years that has been any good? Compared to Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and The Deer Hunter, that is.
JamesG 06-15-2009, 12:22 AM Val Kilmer.
I really like him and it's a shame he has been direct-to-DVD/limited release in recent years.
Schmoopie 06-15-2009, 03:07 AM Steve Gutenberg
Patrick Swayze
Jennifer Grey
70s show watcher 06-15-2009, 05:08 AM meg ryan i would also like to see leslie neilsen get one last big dramatic role so that he is rememberd for something besides naked gun
Doris Day - she still says she'll come out of retirement if she's ever offered anything decent.
It would be great to see Hayley Mills have a big hit and get an Oscar nomination.
And I have a feeling we haven't heard the last from Peter MacNicol.
I wish Mike Meyers would make a comeback in a big way.
For years he's been coasting doing Shrek voiceovers, and then there was that god awful Love Guru last summer.
I wish he would do something that didn't involve that damn ogre or stupid characters in costumes.

I'm also a big Val Kilmer fan. He lives here in New Mexico about an hour away from me. He has a ranch/resort that he is now running and he starting to get involved in politics here. I really wish would make a comeback.

I agree he needs to do something different from those types of characters.
Retro4Life 06-15-2009, 07:56 PM I agree about Kilmer. :)
I'd also love to see Albert Brooks come back and do a cracking good comedy. He's one of the comic geniuses of the last thirty years IMO, and his style of satire based, intelligent observational comedy would be a breath of fresh air in this era of comedies about middle aged slobs raging against commitment.

One of his last big theatrical releases was a mega-flop, 2004's Alexander. It had a huge A-list cast but I heard the movie was awful.
Also more recently I loved the movie he did with Robert Downey Jr. called Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It did get good reviews but this movie is still somewhat obscure to the mainstream audiences.

I saw Alexander and it was awful. I will definitely check out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson are happily married, but I'd love to see them both back in the spotlight.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was great.

It was. Gay Perry was awesome.
browneyes106 06-16-2009, 07:41 PM I hope Tom Sizemore gets his life together and makes a comeback.

I do wish Tom well and that he finally defeats whatever troube he has going for him.
I heard he just recently got in trouble with the law again.
Tubehead 06-16-2009, 11:58 PM I hadn't seen moive with bill murry in a moive. Expect for city of ember i didn't like it. i also wish michal J fox would do a moive. hes my favorite actor. i like Family Ties a lot.
comedyfreak 06-17-2009, 08:24 AM I'd like Miss Debbie Reynolds to make a movie, along with other older actor and acresses. Another that comes to mind is Ellen Burstyn, she's another great actress.
^ I second Debbie Reynolds. And while we're at it, it's been a long time since her daughter's been on the big screen. She's been doing more writing than acting, but Carrie Fisher should definately make another appearance. I don't think she's ever been in a movie with her mom, that would be wonderful to see.

I love Michael J Fox! I think it's probably too stressful and hard on his health to star in another feature film, but I try to catch any cameos or guest appearances he does. He's in several of my favorite movies; BTTF trilogy and "For Love or Money"

Me too, plus I liked him in The Secret Of My Success.
Retro4Life 06-19-2009, 09:30 PM Politics and personal life aside, I always liked Alec Baldwin and think he still has some good roles left. :)
ekkostar 06-21-2009, 06:44 PM I'm glad someone said Steve Guttneberg, but I feel like Dancing With The Stars tarnished what was left of his acting career. He's a pretty cool guy, I did finally see PS Your Cat Is Dead and Private Valentine.
It seems like he's stuck in TV movie heck doing those Santa Claus movies for Hallmark. I wish he'd at least to a family movie the level of It Takes Two or Zeus and Roxanne again.
This will sound repetitive but I'd like to see John Larroquette back in a theatrical movie again, he's fallen in the same trap that Steve has lately. The last theatrical film he was in was the odd and silly Southland Tales which was in a limited run.
