He had that hit "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" way back. If he were still alive today he would have hit the century mark!

He was the perfect choice for Sam the Snowman, the narrator of the perennial holiday TV classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It wouldn't seem like Christmas without hearing his "Holly, Jolly Christmas." Marvo301 06-14-2009, 07:02 PM Happy 100th Burl Ives. Your legacy lives on in the music and stories you left behind. Loved him in an LHOP ep where he played a blind man with his son. Mr. Television 06-15-2009, 12:51 AM He was great! Loved him in an LHOP ep where he played a blind man with his son. He was also great in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor. :) Schmoopie 06-15-2009, 02:37 AM Burl Ives was great! Loved him in Cat On a Hot Tin Roof and in the Rudolph Christmas Special. That is definiately a timeless classic! It's funny, but just in the last 10 years or so, there has been such a large increase on merchandise for "Rudolph" and for the "Holly Jolly Christmas" song. Wonder why it took so long to become popular? That show is about 40 years old! |
