View Full Version : Where Have You Lodged At For Vacation/Travel?
JamesG 05-26-2009, 11:14 AM Just wanted to see where others have stayed at when they went about traveling.
In the poll are the various lodging types that I can think of. Answer all of the places you have stayed at and if you think of more please add.
phoebe7165 05-26-2009, 02:31 PM From that list, the only one would be a hotel right now.
Camping, I haven't camped since I was a kid, which we used to do all the time.
Back when I was younger, when I didn't have alot of money, I stayed at Motel6.
dawsongirl 05-26-2009, 09:02 PM Mostly hotels, usually suite types. I don't like camping and "roughing it." I'm spoiled.

Nighthawk76 05-29-2009, 07:57 PM Many motels, some hotels.
Dude111 04-13-2025, 05:02 AM Mostly Hotels.........
Im sorry dues but whats the difference between a motel and Hotel??
Cant Motels be multiple floors also??
ThisLittlePiggy 04-13-2025, 12:12 PM Motels can have multiple floors. I think they tend to be cheaper and are close to highways. They also usually have the parking lot right there by the doors whereas hotels usually have lobbies and long hallways.
D-Dey 04-13-2025, 02:25 PM You forgot the obvious, staying with relatives!!
Well, when you arrive at your destinations, sure. But in between, it's often staying at motels, whether it's a chain or an independent one. Believe it or not, many still exist.
Dude111 04-13-2025, 04:26 PM Thank you Thislittlepiggy :)
JamesG 04-14-2025, 01:54 AM Hotels are usually more expensive and provide more amenities than a motel. A smaller hotel is referred to as an Inn.
Hotels are typically for people with a longer stay and motels are usually for those who want 1 or 2 nights to crash while they travel. Some people also use motel rooms for ... ;)
Most hotels usually offer bellhops, room service, laundry/dry cleaning, restaurants, beds with fancier furnishings, pools, shuttle services to/from certain locations for guests..
Motels provide guests the basics... bed, dresser, television, and basic toiletries. The only food you might have on site are vending and ice machines. Some motels have pools.
Dude111 04-14-2025, 02:24 AM I wonder if there are any motels/Hotels left with CRT TVs??
I found an abandoned motel near me and in Room 10 there is a beautiful console set... I dunno if it still works.... The ceiling is intact in room 10 and its dry in there.........
Bonniegirl 04-14-2025, 02:24 AM You forgot the obvious, staying with relatives!!
It was. Last one . Guest room in someone's residence .
Bonniegirl 04-14-2025, 02:26 AM Aren't Lodges and Inns similar ?
Hawkee 04-14-2025, 04:56 AM I always liked Marriott hotels and Residence Inns are my very favorite because I like having my own space and my own TV and they are so cool. Motel 6's I can never figure out why they even still are surviving but my family stayed in one once and it was very unappealing and you have no bathtubs in the rooms just a shower and that is odd. But one motel chain you must avoid are America's Best Value Inns because they are unappealing and I don't know why they are still in operation but America's Best Value Inns are a giant no-no in my eyes
D-Dey 04-14-2025, 11:10 AM Motels provide guests the basics... bed, dresser, television, and basic toiletries. The only food you might have on site are vending and ice machines. Some motels have pools.
A lot more of them offer complimentary breakfast, usually around the vicinity of the checkout desks. And you can make it yourself.
