AES Hudson Street - starring the one and only Gregory Sierra. :eyes: It would be great (yet HIGHLY unlikely) to see it get an official DVD release, since it only ran 5 episodes in 1978. But it would be so great to have extras - including some input from its star. :eyes:

There has to be some way that the studios can make these rare shows available to us fans. What a waste to hold them forever in a vault without ever using them again. Surely, there is something they can do and turn a profit from it. I think they are underestimating their value.

Yeah, I know. That's why I said HIGHLY unlikely. I think it is still possible for Checking In to get a release on a Jeffersons DVD set (as an extra). It was only 4 episodes - so maybe it can have its own disc on a Jeffersons set. We can dream, can't we?? :D

Actually it was the reverse of what happened on Happy Days, Mork guest starred on Out of the Blue in the first episode which made it a crossover. So Out of the Blue is not a spinoff of Happy Days or Mork and Mindy

Does anyone remember a show that I think aired in 1979, for maybe only five episodes, called "Highcliffe Manor"? It was a Gothic romance spoof, and I swear it was either done by Susan Harris or someone trying to emulate her style. I liked the show a lot; it starred Stephen McHattie, Shelley Fabres, Audrey Landers, and others I can't remember right now. :)

And it ended on a cliffhanger!!!

One of the shows I wish I think deserved better than it got during the 70's was the science fiction adventure "Fantastic Journey". It's plot really seems like the template for shows like "Sliders" and the "Stargate" series. A group of diverse characters get stuck in the Bermuda Triangle and travel to different dimensions and time periods, trying all the while to get home. I know Ike Eisenmann was in it, along with Jared Martin from "Dallas" as "Varian" the future guy with a cool tuning fork weapon (yes, I said 'tuning fork'), and Roddy McDowell as a scientist from the 60's. I think there was a lady who could turn into a cat in it, too. :)

I haven't given up hope on some of these shows from the 70's getting released on DVD since Buck Henry's 'Quark' which ran 9 episodes in '77 got released.

Apple's Way
BJ and the Bear
Gemini Man
Future Cop
Ghost Story
Hawkins
Holmes and Yo-Yo
Logan's Run
Korg: 70,000 B.C.
The Next Step Beyond

I would like to see the final season of 'The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries' get released. It's only a few episodes, so it would have been nice if they released it with Season 2. But, maybe with new Hardy Men movie coming out they'll release it to cash in. After all, the Nancy Drew movie was the reason Season 2 got released.

The point I was making is you can go to the trading board and ask for Grady, Ropers, and Sanford Arms or Carter Country. The only show no one has is Hot L Baltimore. So if you are hoping o see those shows one day they can easily be acquired on the Trading board.

Barney Miller lasted 8 seasons - I wouldn't exactly call it UNpopular.

Not on the level of the other Parrent shows

Sanford and Son
Happy Days
Three's Company

It had a fanbase but not like the shows above

Sol, what exactly WERE the ratings for each season of Barney Miller? I think it was in the Top 25/30 almost every year it aired.

As good as those shows are, They've been widely syndicated for years. I can recall all 3 airing locally for many years but the only time Barney Miller was shown was in 1982 and the channel that ran it didn't have it on long.

Don't forget though that was a time before cable. There was really only the three major networks and PBS. There were far less shows on the air, so the networks expected them to pull in higher ratings then they would today. Once a show dropped out of the top 30 it was in dnager of being canceled.

I always enjoyed Serpico.
