View Full Version : World Champion Phillies & Muts Set To Renew Rivalry
Wreckless 04-30-2009, 11:27 PM Us and them meet for the first time this season, and the first time since we became 2008 World Champions of Baseball, and since the Mets CHOKED again- 2 years in a row while we cruised to the playoffs . I can't wait to bash the f*cking Muts faces in this weekend, @ Philly.
And we don't face Santana this weekend AT ALL either- thank god for that.
Mets at Phillies- Friday 7:05 pm- Mike Pelfrey @ Chan Ho Park
Saturday 3:40pm on FOX- Odalis Perez vs. Jamie Moyer
Sunday at 1:05 pm- John Maine vs. Joe Blanton
Go Phils ;) F&ck the Mets
TVFactFan 05-02-2009, 03:30 PM There is no rivalry when one team is better than the other. And that mets win last night didn' mean sh*T. They are still a joke of a franchise and are no pathetic to have a rival. This is just two teams in the same division squaring off against each other.

I agree- and the Mets are choke artists, and we're comeback kids. But, its a rivalry when I hate the f*ckin mets and their fans lol. and they hate us, and i hate when their fans show up with their ugly ass jersies in our ballpark lol- dumb@sses...

Phillies fans have no reason to hate the Mets when their team has been the best in the NL east for the last 2 years and won a title. The hate should be the other way around

Yeah but still-it's a rivalry and that's how it is in sports, standings aside. Yankees-Red Sox, Angels-Dodgers (although that's less prominent cause the 2 teams are in 2 different leagues in the Majors) & Phils-Muts. Philly is closer to NY then a lot of states and cities, so the closeness builds a rivalry, like it does with the Flyers-Rangers & Eagles-Giants respective rivalries as well in the other sports. You're right- we kicked their a$$es and won the championship as well the last 2 years against them, but it's fun to curse out the Mets and hate the Mets & Mets fans lol. It's like you hate Philly teams- I hate New York teams, but only in baseball & football- I don't really hate or hate at all for that matter, the Rangers or Islanders, or Knicks of NY as much or at all compared to the Giants or Muts.

I always thought a rivalry meant that it was two teams who took turns in beating each other and winning titles like Boston/Yankess, Celtics/Lakers, and Colts/Pats.

That is true, but teams don't have to win championships for it to be a true or legit rivalry I don't think. I think as long as both teams are great and beat each other each year, and it's not one sided, and the emotions and fans are in it, then it'll be a real good rivalry. like in hockey, the boston bruins and montreal canadiens have a real good hockey rivalry, but the last championship from either of the 2 teams hasn't happened since 1992-1993; 16 years ago, and it still is a good rivalry and fun hockey to watch. I know you don't watch hockey, I was just making an example though; that, that can happen.
Brian Damage 05-02-2009, 05:12 PM Go Marlins!
Wreckless 05-02-2009, 05:16 PM Go Marlins!
lol Marlins fans are a joke.
they had 400 people show up for a game at Dolphins stadium once. 400
they have 2 championships but they rebuild their team every year....they're a joke lol but I know you're rooting for them to beat us....like I'm rooting for Tampa Bay in the AL East to beat out Boston & the Yankees .

I think it is a thing called New York envy. ;)
TVFactFan 05-02-2009, 05:20 PM Since 1984 I have enjoyed watching these sports Rivalries
Boston/Lakers-84-88
Pistons/Bulls-88-91
Redskins/Eagles-88-91
Cowboys/Eagles-89-95
Giants/Eagles-1999-2002
Lakers/Kings-2001-2004
Wreckless 05-02-2009, 05:26 PM Solomon, I loved that Sacramento team from the 2000 era, and that 2000-2001 Conf. Finals series with the Lakers was fantastic, but the Tim Donahey situation dampered it in my mind. I think Sac. deserved to win the series, but LA was a great team & the better one obviously that year.

I didn't watch the 4th qtr of Game 7 of the WCF in 2002 between the Lakers and Kings because I wanted the Lakers to win and thought they had no chance in Sacramento once they got down by 9-lol I caught the 4th Qtr the following day on NBATV

Yeah, that's why I think Sacramento got cheated, and in their own place. Tim Donaghey gave it to the lakers unfairly in my mind.

Yes i know- but you said to him "your boyfriend" so i took offense. i don't mind questioning somebody's legitimacy as a sports fan, just don't throw me in the mix- even if you didn't intend to, when we haven't been fighting for a little while.
Btw, Solomon, the lady responded and gave me the job blogging for the sports blog/site...just to let you know how fast they respond, it was 2 days before she responded, not to rub it in or nothing. but yeah, i think they pay you for blogging if you sign up for this site which puts ads on your blog site, and the more people that click on your site and ads on your site, you gain revenue from it. but it seems really fun to me; money aside. dunno if you like that kind of stuff- blogging about sports and all that.

I posted my first blog entry, on the phillies game last night- after the game. the site this girl set me up with is weird though . i can blog about all 4 sports that i love, and the 4 teams- flyers, 76ers, phils & birds yet its all run through one site for basketball. im still kinda confused lol but i wanna set up the site and get some money as well. Plus this looks good on applications.

So you don't want me to be a blogger? What sample did you send them, didn't know tyou already had a blog

well think about it- bloggers usually blog about their favorite teams, or the teams from their city. it would be stupid for you to blog about any of the 4 philly teams- not only do you not know as much about them, you hate them, and blogging negatively about them and calling players names on a blog would get you nowhere. especially if you are blogging about these teams, to get money from ads on your site. nobody is going to come back to your blog or click on your ads to get you money if you are writing like that and talking negatively about their favorite teams lol. just saying. and nah, didn't need a sample- although i would be more then welcome to give them one. yeah- if you respond, they have to set you up though. Give you the ground rules, set you up for you to pick a username and url for your blog, and to get started- then it's up to you from their. let me know what goes on/ if they respond. this isn't the biggest blog like yahoo, or ESPN etc. or bigger sites, but it does look and is legit, so it's better then nothing for me.

I read the ad again, you can talk negatively but on behalf of the Philly teams like if the Phillies blow a 11-0 lead ans lose 12-11. In the ad it askes the question
"do you ever finish watching a sporting event and have a urge to let others know your thoughts?
Wreckless 05-02-2009, 10:14 PM uh yeah that's you lol. but even if you talk negatively, do you think people are gonna wanna read it? fans of the sport & team are on that site, and their not going to like you, give you positive feedback or click on your site for that matter, if that's what your blog is about. what team is the ad you're referring to, catering towards? the phillies? link me to your blog if, and if you get on, once you get started posting.

What I'm saying is if the Phillies lost a 11-0 and lost the game 12-11, in the blog I would be writing as a pissed off Phillies fan saying-"Are you kiddin me?

yeah that's fine, and would work- I just gave you tips earlier on how to succeed in this lol. You just have to know in every post you can't go "Phillies lose, Phillies lose LOL LOL" and make a joke out of it lol.
Big C 05-02-2009, 11:09 PM There are two reasons I posted what I posted:
1. Since this thread is about this series, I wanted to give an update on today's game
2. To me, a walk-off walk- it just sounds funny. I've heard of walk-off homers, but a walk-off walk? That's as rare as a Cowboys win in Decermber.
