my school counselor really pissed me off today. yes, it's her job to give me tips for being successful, but it's not her job to spend 20 minutes trying to corner me into doing something frivolous that i don't want or need to do, and i especially did not like the ridiculous slippery slope argument she used in her efforts to persuade me. god, **** off. i was so damn frustrated i was clawing my face until it bled. no hint was picked up, of course. good thing i'm out of school and won't be working for at least the next month because it looks terrible.

i guess the counselors here really suck. when i was signing up for my first semester of college, another counselor was helping me and she kept telling me to only sign up for morning classes so i could work in the afternoon, even though i kept telling her i had absolutely no intention of having a job. i wonder if minding their own business is against their policies or something.

God, I hate people like that. It's MY life, not yours. I know me, you don't, so shut up.

Fortunately, my counselors in college just looked at my schedules and said, looks good. So pointless having to go to them in the first place.

At the beginning of the week, I began to back the car out of the garage and stick my head out the window as I usually do. Problem was, I'd forgotten that I'd rolled the windows up the night before and ended up smacking my face against the window. OWWWWW. I am such a klutz. :o

As a former overnight worker my advice is to look at the clock as little as possible. I always found the less I looked at the clock the faster the night went by. And I'm sorry about your nose. I hope the pain subsides quickly!

I sort of feel silly complaining about this because it's so petty, but here goes. My kitchen cabinets are too high. I'm average height (5'6"), and when I want something off a top shelf, I have to stand on my tip toes, and even then, it's difficult. Because I'm not the healthiest person going, I don't have much arm strength. It's as if my kitchen was built for tall people.

My husband's always getting me things off the top shelves. Luckily, he's 6'1". I've been wondering where or if they sell those small clamps that I see employees use in supermarkets. We've been living here for 10 years, and it never bothered me, but things are different now. I'm different now. I emptied the dishwasher earlier, and it was hard. I can't do without them either.

I am so sick of my life. I'm sick of the way things are. I'm sick of having no money, I'm sick of everything. I desperately need a change. I hate applying for financial aid for college(only have 10 days til the semester starts, not sure there's enough time.) Going to college this summer directly ties in to have something exciting happen this summer. Going to have to talk with my advisor on Monday probably. Ugh. Shoot me now.

I'm sorry, Brent. I took out financial aid out one semester, and believe it or not, I did not find out that it went through until three weeks after classes began. Taking out that financial aid was a role of the dice because it was such a gamble. Good luck with the advisor.

I can so relate to the money part. I hate having no bread when you want to go out and do things.

It sucks more because I used to have thousands of dollars. My old laptop, my flat screen TV, my DVD recorder, all my DVD sets I have in my closet, they were all bought with my money. My parents and relatives didn't help me out at all. I had to loan my parents most of the money I had still to afford to rent this house(which frankly I'm sick of, they have zero initiative to do ANYTHING, if I want something done I have to do it). They are even worse off than me really. I have no idea if I'll ever see this money again(certainly not soon). I had to spend pretty much every avaliable dime I had this past semester to go to college on my own, and I struggled to make that last the whole semester.

It sucks. This just keeps getting worse and worse and I don't know how to fix it.

But the really bad part is, I'm the oldest. I'll be out in here in a couple of years at worst(hopefully sooner). My sister is still in high school and my little brother is only 4. I don't know how they are going to make it. I was lucky, up until the last couple of years we were not rich, but we were able to live good enough, and they don't have the kind of money I used to have saved up.

It really is and I've had it. It irritates me more because my parents don't seem to care at all about anything. We're on food stamps and this is the final few days of the month and they still refuse to spread the money out more(we go through this every month, final few days there's very little food in the house, while right after it resets there's food everywhere). I'm going to have to go buy some food tomorrow probably.

I forgot to mention the worst part of the financial aid nonsense, we had gotten a letter months ago that we were supposed to send to the college as soon as I got off probation, well my mom can't find it. Just lovely, and now it's the weekend which means nothing can happen til Monday(more wasted time). As I said earlier, if anything gets done right around here I have to do it.

Sick and tired of it!

If you're the one with all the money anyway, maybe you should look into getting a place of your own, or maybe with a roommate. You shouldn't have to parent your parents.

While the student is waiting for their financial aid do go through or not, they are listed in the computer has having "financial aid pending", and as long as that is there, the student will not be dropped from the class.

The thought has definitely entered my mind on more than one occasion. Problem is right now I don't have the money for anything, though I'm hoping some things will come together(whenever I get financial aid for college, whether it's this summer or in the fall, I plan to get some extra and try and save it.) When I was getting pell grants in 2007/Early 2008 I would have several hundred leftover which really helped out with extra expenses back then.

Our guys, the grabbers, lol. In a sort of related topic, years ago, a friend and her husband bought a house where the previous owners were midgets, or is it small people. I need an updated PC manual, lol. The house was designed especially for them. The kitchen looked liked it came from Barbie's dreamhouse. I'm kidding, but everything was very low. The sink, all of the appliances, the cabinets, etc. All the doorways in house were low. The bathroom, forget it. My husband and I went to dinner there one night. Sorry....but I was on the toilet, and it was like sitting on a potty chair. My husband joked that it was a good thing he had a good aim.

When my friend bought the house, they got a good deal because of how the house was built. I guess no little people wanted it at the time. My friend was about 5'1", and her husband was 5'6", and they had two toddlers. We lost contact, so I don't know how long they lived there. I think of that house, and I wonder if my home was designed for tall people. Our closets, everything, is out of reach. It has very high ceilings. If a smoke detector goes off, I have to grab a chair and a broom, lol. I think I may buy one of those folding two-step thingys.

Story of my last 4 weeks. Mine crashed on April 10th and less than a week later it was confirmed as dead. This one has become tolerable but I still feel lost on it with so much stuff missing. I can't afford a new one until I get the loan for college(my entire life the next 3 months ties back to that, ugh)

Uh-oh. Because you're sick, or...?

I've had something like that all my life. Not a 3-day GI bug or anything like that. I call it morning sickness, and that's what it is, to an extent. I wake up extremely nauseous, throw up, try to sleep again, throw up. Lather, rinse, repeat. All day long. Then I'm fine the same night.

Also... agreed. Ugh. I love when you hear about people who are 25+ and still partying hard. My sis is a good example... almost 27 and she still parties her ass off and has hangovers all the time, FFS.

Thanks Sonny/Monika.

Justin was a member of a couple of motorbike clubs. I found the website for one of them and sent him a link to the page on the website showing the announcement of the accident.

He emailed back and accused me of faking the website, or getting some friends to do it. The first line of his message was, "Hmm, so which of your mates is responsible for that?"

I got so angry when I saw that last night that I called one of my friends who told me I should forget him. Justin would likely say the same himself. But I do have a strong desire to show this person that I am telling the truth. All he has to do is do a search for "Justin Wand Hitchin" in a Google or Yahoo search engine and some obituaries and news articles appear. I recommended he do that and sent him a link to one online news article for a paper. I just hope he doesn't accuse me of faking that as well.

It's just ridiculous.

Now, how can any of this be when I don't even belong to Facebook? Also, the person who added me as their friend is someone I've never even heard of before. It seems like it. My only guess is that someone I know who has my email address must be a member of Facebook and has given out my address. It makes me very unhappy that someone gave it out without permission. This is the only logical explanation.

I'm very sorry about the setback, Kim. Still, I know there are great things in the future for you. You're a fighter and a survivor and I know that next spring you will be in the program and doing great. These sort of programs do fill up quick though. I remember that from my work in registration. Another day, more bad news in my sucky life.

So last night I sent an email to the Financial aid office at College(figured I'd try to get answers this way first) about my situation, having only a week before classes and really wanting to go. I get an email back this morning saying that despite being off probation my "standards of academic progress" is still not good enough. Apparently I need 2 classes with passing grades instead of 1. I told the person of my financial situation and she's like "well you can save money over the summer", okay, from where exactly?! Then proceeds to tell me how much per credit hour it is LIKE I DON'T KNOW ALREADY SINCE I JUST PAID MY OWN WAY LAST SEMESTER! I am not a freaking idiot. I can't afford to go on my own again and don't know what I'm going to do(not that I'd want to go on my own anyway, I was so tight on money throughout the whole semester anyway, I barely made it). I HATE my life. I haven't given up yet but I don't see how this is going to happen. I really wish I could go back in time and fix this(fall 2007 was the worst semester when most of the damage was done), and I really wish SOMEONE would realize my situation and HELP ME. :angryfire :wallbang

This goes beyond the issue of college, I need some extra money just to make it through the summer.

That's what I don't like about Facebbook. When you sign up, they require your e-mail and password. I've almost mistakenly sent things to people in my e-mail address book, people I'm not even in contact with anymore. I rarely go to Facebook anymore. With all due respect to everyone, I don't feel the need to know every detail of my friend's lives, and that's all it really is to me, a play by play of what people are doing. What most likely happened Mike, is that one of your friends is on Facebook, and something got sent to you by accident.

That's what I think too, Janice. A freind of mine who has my email address must have given it out. Which does not make me happy. I agree with you about Facebook. I think its just a place where people talk all about themselves and post a zillion pictures of themselves. I think its a little bit of an ego trip. I know some people will not like me saying that. I just don't see the need to post 20 pictures of myself for people to look at. I'm not that good looking.

I used to get e-mails like this from Facebook all the time and I am not on Facebook either. I thought it was SPAM and reported it as such. I haven't received any in a while. I don't know how they would get ahold of your e-mail address or mine. I actually received these e-mails at work, not at home. My work e-mail is supposed to be very private since it is used for school district business, but I get more SPAM there than I ever have at home. They think there was a security leak and are in the process of overhauling our whole system. I don't know if there is a way your address could have been sent out by mistake (or on purpose) if you've ever ordered something online or registered for membership to a website (not this one of course ;))

I know it is frustrating though. I'm sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately none of us are secure online.

That sounds like fun, lol. I think I'm going to cancel Facebook. Truth be told, I don't want to read anyone's blog, look at their photo galleries (more than once anyway), hear about their daily lives, read any long jokes or funny reviews or any of that. P.S. I've been on facebook for over 3 years now (registered in February 2006), and I still use it for its original intended purpose - to stay in touch with friends. I was on it when there was no main homepage news feed, no non-Facebook applications, when you still needed a college .edu address to register (that was before FB let high schoolers join), all that good stuff. Once a veteran, always a veteran. :)

My three-years-older sister, on the other hand. Yeah, let's not go there.

Also, there are people on it who treat facebook like they're on Twitter. Not with the Twitter application that's on there, but by their status updates.

That didn't come from Facebook at all. If you're not signed up on there, they won't send you any emails at all. It's just some dumbass spammer trying to be a genius.
It could have come from Facebook. I almost did it once, and it happened to Sarah. The Friends feature on Facebook pulls up everyone in my address book, whether they're signed up on Facebook or not. If I'm not careful, a couple of clicks on my part could invite them, via e-mail. I've clicked on old members links because I'm curious to see their pictures. I was one click away from inviting someone to be my Facebook friend, and someone I'm not exactly friendly with anymore, lol.

That sounds like working in an elementary school as well.

i was so excited to sign up for the phlebotomy program but was told today that both summer and fall are already filled. my life sucks! i thought i was going to have a whole new career by the new year but it looks like i will still be a security guard! nothing ever works out for me. i know that sounds stupid because its as easy as waiting til next spring, but when you are stuck doing work that is unfulfilling and pays very little that can be a lifetime away.

I know how you feel. Nothing ever goes the way I want it to either. But just keep thinking, maybe it will work out for the better in the long run.

Tell me about it... I'm sick of my sorry life too. I've pretty much given up on college this summer, but I can file an appeal to try and get funds for fall. In the meantime I'm going to try to find some way online to make a little money. I signed up for some online juror type thing that might help a bit. Says it pays $20-$50 per case, not sure how often cases come though. Will be looking into some other options also.

my school counselor really pissed me off today. yes, it's her job to give me tips for being successful, but it's not her job to spend 20 minutes trying to corner me into doing something frivolous that i don't want or need to do, and i especially did not like the ridiculous slippery slope argument she used in her efforts to persuade me. god, **** off. i was so damn frustrated i was clawing my face until it bled. no hint was picked up, of course. good thing i'm out of school and won't be working for at least the next month because it looks terrible.

i guess the counselors here really suck. when i was signing up for my first semester of college, another counselor was helping me and she kept telling me to only sign up for morning classes so i could work in the afternoon, even though i kept telling her i had absolutely no intention of having a job. i wonder if minding their own business is against their policies or something.
my brother came home and damn near kicked a hole in the wall after a visit with her today. apparently the bitch lectured him like a child about things that were none of her damn concern, then proceeded to tell our dad about what had gone on during their appointment AND LIE HER ASS OFF ABOUT IT. she also apparently told him about me scratching my face. ****ing whore has no right. i've had enough of her, i'm going to someone else next time i have a question about the school and my progress.

Yeah.... the post kind of speaks for itself. Lots of times (especially at school) I feel like I just can't think of anything to say, words don't come easily to me when talking to people I admire... and with the end of school drawing near... I just don't know how to tell my peeps how much they mean to me... I mean, is that weird? Am I too overattached? Why the hell am I so quiet? in high school i had a school psychologist just like that. she blamed everything on me and made things her business that weren't. i thought the whole point of therapy was to make you feel better about yourself and offer solutions to your problems, she was just the opposite. she made me miserable and i was stuck seeing her every single week. i dreaded it. she made up stories all the time too. one time she had to leave her office to speak to someone out in the hall and while she was outside i went into her filing cabinet and stole my file out of it. you can't believe the lies about me that filled that manilla folder. she was a witch!

Well I've got enough complaints I think to last me AND every soul of the complaint dept an entire year, so listen up:

Okay, I was embarrassed to admit this before, but because I have OCD and bipolar and type 1 diabetes, I was put on disability shortly after my father died. I was trying to finish college last year but thanks to my WONDERFUL illnesses  I wasn't able to, and I was ashamed to admit that too. Now that I don't have any educational financial aid to supplement my disability, frankly, I'm screwed financially.

Oh, and that's not all. There's this man who was practically my father's best friend when Dad was alive, and Dad did SO MUCH for his family. Shortly after Dad died, at first, he and his girlfriend (who's my best friend and like a big sister to me) were really there for me. They helped me find the dump I'm living in now, but it was a lot better than living under a bridge.

Well, okay, another thing I was too ashamed to admit to on SO is the fact that I'm from Mississippi, and believe me, my abominable state has EARNED it's repuation! They've had their heads up their butts SO LONG about the needs of people with mental illness that when they started FINALLY wising up a little and getting psychiatrists in the area, the doctors overbooked like CRAZY. Now patients have to wait, I'm not kidding, once every TWO MONTHS to see a doctor about their meds! Last year I was on my meds and they were backfiring and making my depression a million times worse, even making me suicidal, and I couldn't even get in to see my psychiatrist for two months at a time! I literally had no choice but to go off my meds to stop me from being suicidal, and I had NO doctor to oversee that situation during that critical time. I didn't even bother going back. I just threw my hands up in the air at our piss-poor healthcare system. I will NOT be disrespected like that and treated like crap!

Anyway, I say all of that to say this. I had the WORST suicidal mood swing EVER over the Easter weekend last month, and that flat-out tore it for me. I asked a friend about moving closer to where he lived so I wouldn't be all alone in a new place and so that hopefully I could be in a different state where their healthcare isn't as abominable as ours is! You know, have a doctor see me a LITTLE more often than once every TWO months! Plus, and again I hate to get into this but I'm on a roll so why not? LOL On my pretty pathetic income, I have actually been DENIED food stamps. I've been having to sell my more valuable possessions at the pawn shop these past six months or so JUST to pay my grocery bill! Well, guess what? No food stamps. Plenty of financial disasters along the way. I'm running out of things to sell.

And, oh wait, y'all haven't heard the best part. My best friend and I worked out a solution to where I could stay in a cheap pet-friendly hotel for a couple of weeks out of the month (yes, I have pets, which is making this even MORE hard) and stay on their couch the remaining two weeks of the month until I could find some kind of section 8 apartment or get approved for food stamps or get SOME kind of assistance, you know, until I could work everything out, in addition to finding a better doctor. And GUESS WHAT my dad's "friend" says. Now let me give you guys some perspective on this. He and my best friend and their family have always had to struggle ever since my dad and I knew them. Over the years, my dad has done SO MUCH for their family in terms of lending them money, material things, etc. I'd say about 50-60% of the furniture in his house came from my dad. And WHAT does this BUTTHOLE say to me about merely sleeping on his COUCH for two weeks every month to prevent me from being homeless? To give you his exact words, "We're not gonna start that." We're not gonna start WHAT??? ACTING LIKE A HUMAN BEING????!!!!!!

Now I am in the WORST financial disaster of my entire life. I cannot pay my rent or other bills. If I don't get some way to get me some damned help SOON, I WILL die. Either OCD and bipolar will drive me to suicide before I can see a decent doctor who will treat me right, or I'll die homeless and starve. I mean, I am checking other things out, like going to a YWCA in a different area or whatever, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do about my dogs if I do. This is really, horifically frightening and complicated. And I am SO SICK at the fact that my father fought TWO WARS for this country, and now they do this to his daughter. God bless America, baby...RIGHT!!!!

There, complaint dept...how's THAT for complaining???

The job market is really bad right now, Lauren. It isn't your fault that you are having such a difficult time trying to find a job. There are many people out there who are suffering through the same thing. The unemployment rate here in Illinois in nearly %10. If you count the people who were let go from jobs and then had to take lover paying jobs just to pay the bills, the unemployment rate is about %19.

I wish I could say something to make you feel better. :( I hate to see people feeling the way that you are feeling. However, I am truly lost for words right now. I have gone through periods of depression, the worst case being 10 years ago, but my depression wasn't even close to being as bad as yours is. Which means I can't even imagine what you must be going through right now. My heart goes out to you though.

This country has one of the worst health care systems in the world. Even though I love this country, right now there are so many problems with it that it doesn't seem like it will ever get better. I look around me sometimes and see what condition not only this country is in, but the world in general, and I'm not sure I even want to have children. I ask myself, if it is this bad now, how bad will it be for my children? Then when I think about having children, I realize that they may be the hope for the future. I could have a son or daughter who could grow up and cure aids or something! Who knows? That is when I remember that it is important to never give up hope. No matter how bad things may seem at times, I always believe that all will turn out okay in the end. That's how I've gotten through my periods of depression, by keeping in mind that no matter bad I might be feeling at that moment, that I know things will get better. Things will get better for you too.

i know this might sound even more depressing but try contacting a homeless shelter, preferably one that specializies in womens needs and concerns. when you call, inquire about a transitional living program (tlp), if they have one available. basically, it is subsidized housing where the rent is based on income - income of any kind whether it be state aid/soc. sec. disability/soc. sec. etc and if you have no income they will put you in touch with agencies and organizations that may help you. here at the tlp i work at the rent is based on 30% of your income, though i'm sure rates vary. that would be an excellent avenue for you to explore. you would be more than a likely candidate at our facility thats for sure, a shoe in as a matter of fact. we have had many similar clients with the same circumstances. i think its worth looking into if its offered in your area. honey you are in my prayers and its heartbreaking what you described. i will be praying for you

I will NOT be disrespected like that and treated like crap!

mrsg, if you ever feel that the despair and desperation is unbarable to the point of suicidal thoughts, check yourself into an emergency room. they will surely take your immediate needs seriously and will make sure your case gets the urgent attention it deserves in terms of the aftercare they will offer you. once you start making a paper trail it will be difficult to ignore your situation, afterall they would be liable if they blatantly neglected your attempts to seek help.

I was going to complain, but now I feel like I'd be a whiner compared to what MrsG is going through.

Is there a county or state run hospital anywhere in your area that has a mental health department? That's where I go and all I have to pay is $4 for my meds and nothing for the office visits. I feel lucky to live in a county that has that aid available or I'd be paying $45/month for drugs and $100+ for office visits.

Well thank you all for everything you said, and I do appreciate everybody's suggestions, but the bottom line is I have GOT to get out of Mississippi and fast. There is NO way to get the help you truly need down here. It's nothing but the black hole of Calcutta! I'm trying to hang in there and think positive and not be so scared, but the God's honest truth is, I am terrified, and I am deeply furious that God has allowed things to reach this horrific point in my life. Anybody wants to give me any lectures or sermons about how I shouldn't talk like that about God, etc., etc., I'm telling you now, SAVE IT because you won't get far with me. It was a betrayal on God's part that He EVER allowed things to reach this point to begin with. I worry that He won't let it stop until I'm under a bridge! It sure as HELL was a betrayal on my earthly father's part. He stuck me with this mess. He abandoned me because he smoked himself to death and when push came to shove, he loved the smokes a whole HELL of a lot more than he ever loved me! There is nothing in this world that pisses me off any more than parents who smoke. How can parents NOT realize that every single time they are lighting up, they are slapping their child in the face just as hard as they can?! How can they NOT see and understand that every time they light up, what their actions are really saying to their child is, "My addiction comes first and I don't give a f*** that I could be exposing you to lung cancer or that I could die early because of this and abandon you." I almost wish that it could be a law that people MUST quit smoking before they are allowed to conceive a child. In my book, parents do not have the right to be smokers, and smokers do not have the right to be parents. I don't care HOW hard the addiction is to overcome. I don't give a damn HOW painful or uncomfortable or unpleasant it is when you get a craving for a cigarette, you should have enough love in your heart for your child to be willing to endure it, no matter how many hundreds of times a day for the sake of your child. I personally wish that EVERY parent who smokes would have the most real, awful, horrific dream tonight that their child is bent down in front of a toilet puking their guts out on chemotherapy because THEY gave them lung cancer! Parents who smoke need to have reality slap their faces and kick their asses REALLY good and hard before it's too late and they end up SELFISHLY wrecking their kids' lives like my father did mine! Oh, and I'm sure several of you might think, "Well, he didn't mean to do that to you." You want to know my response to that? SO WHAT?!?!?!?! In the end, in the final score, IT DOESN'T MATTER if parents MEANT to abandon their kids or give them lung cancer or not, it only matters that that's what they DID do. In the end, if I'm homeless in a couple of weeks, it's not going to matter that my father didn't mean to do this to me. It's only going to matter that he DID do this to me. And while he gets to sit all nice and toasty and comfy up in heaven, *I* am the one suffering the final consequences of his addiction, NOT him.

Okay, how's that for some more complaining??? I'm getting good at this!

I think its good that you are getting this anger and frustration out. Its not good to keep it bottled up inside. I also am 100% with you on the thing with parents smoking. Parents should not smoke. Once the child is born, the smoking needs to stop. Sadly, people with an addiction are under control of their chosen drug and they do often put it above everything else. :(

I found out why my Robert Palmer DVD isn't working, it has a bunch of scratches on the back of it!!! I went to work on some screen captures from it today and it was acting up. At first I figured it was Power DVD being a brat, but this DVD has always been giving me trouble. Now I know why. I'm just upset because I hate going through Amazon to buy stuff because they keep removing items or have started selling them in limited quantities.

There's also a slight scratch or two on Disc 1 of my Night Court S2 but fortunately that's still working perfectly. AAAARRRGG!!! I guess I should stop using my DVD/CD drive so my other discs won't become victims. It's great for ripping CDs and burning material to them, but it doesn't like DVDs for whatever reason. Of course this is the exact opposite of Netflix DVDs. Oh yeah, they have LOADS of scratches on them but they still play!

i'm so sad. we closed our shelter a few weeks ago and now my bosses hours have been cut down to part time. she went from 40 hrs. a week to 20. they pretty much told her she could make her own hours and she will be working now 10am-2pm. i get out of work at 8am, so i will most likely never see her again. i'm going to miss all the morning talks we had, i'd sometimes stay til 9am even though i get out at 8am, just because we would talk so much. i understand since she is pregnant now with twins that coming in at 10am is more easier on her then dragging herself out of bed first thing in the morning but i expected these changes to happen later in her pregnancy. she just left on vacation today and won't be back until after memorial day, so i didn't even get a chance to work with her one last time. i just found out her new hours this morning from another staff member.

now a different staff member will relieve me at 8am, a staff member i can't stand who is not nearly as friendly and personable. if i don't get into the fall semester for phlebotomy, i am scheduled for the winter semester in jan. as much as i was disappointed i thought i could stick it out til then at the shelter as long as my boss was still there (shes due in dec) but now that this has happened staying there is going to be miserable.

Blah, Amazon. I wanted to buy a laptop through them... Never again! They suspended the account I've had since 2002 there, all because they want me to fax some paperwork. HOW IN THE ****ING HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO FAX SOMETHING. WE HAVEN'T HAD A FAX MACHINE AT HOME SINCE I WAS A ****ING KID. And you need a landline phone for a fax machine, right... Kimberlee, if people have trouble accepting the age difference between you and your husband, that's their problem. You and he (your husband) have a loving relationship, and that's what's important. It doesn't matter what other people think. Everyone has to be who they are, not what other people think they should be. And as far as friends are concerned, I'll always be your friend. I wouldn't care if your husband were 90. :)

I'm sorry about Valerie. I've had a few bosses that I really looked up to and leaving them was very difficult. Still, I'll cherish the fond memories that I have of working with them. I worked at Suncoast video from April 2000 until the store closed in March 2001 and I still miss the boss that I had. Her name was Kelly (yeah, you read it right  ;) ), and I still have a photo on my desk at home of her, me and another co-worker.

Isn't there someway you could maybe get a hold of Valerie's phone number? Is there someone you could ask?

i actually never told valerie my husbands age either. i think she'd be cool with it but i'm more reserved than her and we talk about her life more or just work gossip so it just never came up. not that shes self absorbed, just the conversations tend to lead that way more often than not. she's very good natured, not catty or critical like women can be sometimes, just very relaxed. i knew i liked her when the first week i was there i was making small talk and asked if she had kids and she said "no, but i have a mother-in-law" and went on this hilarious rant about how her mother-in-law lives with her and drives her nuts. the other day she told me she was due in late dec. and mentioned her mother-in-laws birthday was dec. 19. i almost cracked up cause she said she'd didn't care if she had to sew her legs shut but she would not have her kids share her mother-in-laws birthday. she's just a riot but also very thoughtful - she made me a whole batch of pumpkin squares last fall. it wasn't a holiday or anything else, she just brought them in one day and gave them to me. i still have the recipe she kindly wrote out for me as well. another time she made me peanut brittle. one morning she picked up a trivial pursuit cards from a pile of donations and we sat there for a 1/2 hour playing the game.

if i don't get to speak with her before she goes on maternity leave this fall or sooner depending on how her pregnancy goes, i might contact her through myspace so we can atleast exchange emails. i found her husbands profile and saved it so i can always contact her through him i suppose and go from there. she said they're trying to get her back to fulltime status as soon as possible so theres a slight chance i may see her again, but the people she works for all the most disorganized, irresponsible, backwards people i ever heard of, hence the scathing editorial, so don't know how that will play out. with all they have on their plate, finding her fulltime work isn't on the top of their priority list. and once she has the babies she might not come back at all. i'm thinking with 2 babies she might choose to stay at home with them, but i'm also thinking in this economy bringing 2 babies into a home might be financially stressful and she will have to go back. lol i think i'm thinking too much.

i'm so sad. we closed our shelter a few weeks ago and now my bosses hours have been cut down to part time. she went from 40 hrs. a week to 20. they pretty much told her she could make her own hours and she will be working now 10am-2pm. i get out of work at 8am, so i will most likely never see her again. i'm going to miss all the morning talks we had, i'd sometimes stay til 9am even though i get out at 8am, just because we would talk so much. i understand since she is pregnant now with twins that coming in at 10am is more easier on her then dragging herself out of bed first thing in the morning but i expected these changes to happen later in her pregnancy. she just left on vacation today and won't be back until after memorial day, so i didn't even get a chance to work with her one last time. i just found out her new hours this morning from another staff member.

now a different staff member will relieve me at 8am, a staff member i can't stand who is not nearly as friendly and personable. if i don't get into the fall semester for phlebotomy, i am scheduled for the winter semester in jan. as much as i was disappointed i thought i could stick it out til then at the shelter as long as my boss was still there (shes due in dec) but now that this has happened staying there is going to be miserable.

Kimberlee, I am sorry to hear that. You and your boss must be very close.

It's good to hear that you are going back to school for phlebotomy. It's never too late to learn new skills like I did recently for IT. Just keep plugging away at it and you will get there.

I am just joking around, Mattie. Well, sort of. I was chating with JamesG on the movie board about how I have no interest in the horror movies being made these days. They all seem really trashy. Also, through most of my 20's I went to see a couple of new movies each month. Over the last two years or so, it has become two or three movies a year. I just am losing interest in the new movies being made. Too mant remakes, too many trashy horror movies. My post meant that the fact that I am becoming less and less interested in the new movies being made is a sign of my getting older. I didn't mean that I'm actually getting old. ;)

Jumping on the PMS bandwagon here...

I've been on a form of BC for three years (as of next month) where I don't get the monthly visitor. At my appt last week, I told my gyn I want to go off that BC method, and go to one that will last me 10 years. No pills, rings, patches or the shot.

And, ummmm, I'm not looking forward to THAT when I finally switch (next month). Once that happens, I'm sure I'll start getting visits again. Yuck.

I'm posting this via my blackberry and for some reason, the box I'm typing in right now to make this post is underlining everything, and it's really distracting.
