Who else is excited? This looks great from the clips I've seen.

I'm pumped. I've been looking forward to this premiere for months. The previews I've seen on ABC.com look hilarious. It should get a nice premiere after DWTS. With Bob Saget, and just the fact it's a traditional sitcom, it should get a lot of viewers tuning in out of curiosity.

I tried but it seemed like in the first 3 min the sho would be centere around the little girl and I was getting a 2009 Full House feel so I turned it off-lol

It didn't really center around her, but I get your drift. Saget's character ends up helping catch his neighbors' curtains on fire, then becomes the neighborhood hero because he says he puts the fire out. What's the other guy that is in the house that catches the curtains on fire? It's a riot. I'm definitely going to be tuning in again.

I've enjoyed it and the cast is a big part of it...Bob, Cynthia and the great Jere Burns! I'll be looking out for episode #2 :)

So how big was the role for the little girl in the first episode?

Well, she's there, but not really a main character. She ends up telling her father he's her hero instead of Zach Efron, a reference earlier in the episode. She's more of a supporting character, IMO. They also have a teenage son, Henry.

I really enjoyed this show. I've watched all the new sitcoms this season, and there was one difference with Surviving Suburbia: I wasn't disappointed with it. In fact, I was left with wanting more. So, I'll definitely be tuning in next week!

It really was a good, cute show. It definitely has a lot of promise. The storylines are simple enough to be funny, with a total reminiscece of a traditional sitcom. We need more shows to be like this on television. Probably my favorite premiere of the entire season.

Bob Saget was great, funny as usual. The show really was an ensemble show I thought, not entirely centered around Saget's character. The girl was cute - she was a strong presence, but nothing like the Olsen twins in Full House-LOL. I thought her parts were just right. Hopefully we'll see more out of the boy, though. He was just kind of "there."

Let's hope it did well in the ratings! I'm thinking it easily enjoyed a high-rated premiere. Solomon, you should definitely give this one a try.

Wow, I looked at ths show thread, and I noticed 24 people were viewing it  That's definitely a lot. Looks like a lot of people tuned into the premiere.

Yeah I will give it another try. So the teenage boy didn't have a lot of speaking parts?

Towards the end he did. He was the one who eventually led Steve to feel guilty about starting the fire I guess. The girl was really only in the beginning and the end for the most part, with the whole "hero" storyline.

Yeah because the way it started I saw the girl writing at the table and I was like-"wait is this another full house?-lol

No, I thought the girl was a good countercharacter for Steve, how they were able to play off each other like that in the first episode.

I liked the beginning, how they added in that Dancing with the Stars bit. Very clever.

thank goodness the CW canceled its contract with MRC or we would have never seen this one.......at least with ABC, it has a sporting chance!

It's amazing how this show went from almost airing on CW's low rated MRC block to getting the post-DWTS slot on ABC. It definitely has a chance now, that's for sure.

I didn't watch it but if ratings are good, I can always catch up. I'm hopeful but ABC has a habit of premiering shows and only getting mediocre ratings out of them. I hope this sitcom lasts. It looks like a funny show and I always liked Bob Saget.

I didn't mean to imply in centers around Saget. I just felt from this episode he's going to be the main character and getting into most of the conflicts. The little girl did have a presence, but just at the right times. I just felt the need to clarify that. :) I loved it too. It's going to be great, I think.

It's ratings weren't bad at all - 12.2 million viewers, the highest premiere since Samantha Who?, also after DWTS. And, since this was cheap for ABC, this is definitely a winning performance. Hopefully it'll be able to maintain its ratings next week, against Rules of Engagement. This is definitely a show that can grow, since it's in no way serialized, so I hope viewers stick around.

If it's a choice between Rules of Engagement and Surviving Suburbia, I'll take Suburbia.

So will I - I've been stuck watching ROE at 9:30 because nothing else was on. Now I have another option, finally. I hope we see Suburbia crush ROE next week.

I've never cared much for David Spade. I used to love 8 Simple Rules but he ruined it IMO.

we can't really judge a show's ratings after it's premeire, we have to wait and see what the numbers look like after episode 3

I'm not much of a David Spade fan myself, and I really didn't like him on 8 Simple Rules - would have been much better without him. The only reason I'd watch ROE is for Megyn Price.

Solomon, I agree - I'd love to see ratings go up next week. It is possible, after all. But, I think if it can maintain above 10 million for the next 5 episodes, it'll see a fall slot.

Surviving Suburbia may beat Rules of Engagement in total viewers, but it will definitely lose to Rules of Engagement in the demo by at least a full point. Rules of Engagement had a 4.0-4.1 demo on its last outing while Surviving Suburbia had only a 3.0 demo. Hopefully Suburbia can rise since I thought it was great! :)

It has potential to grow in viewers. But come the demo, it doesn't help that Two and a Half Men gets a bigger demo than Dancing with the Stars. As big as DWTS is, it's demo is rather low, and that definitely doesn't help Surviving Suburbia. I think if it can keep a 2.8 demo or higher it'll be fine.

I hate the demos...All I care about is total viewers and that's what networks should care about too. No wonder, they're in such bad shape.

I think ABC and CBS are both networks to go lenient on demos. I think since ABC has demo powers in Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and Lost, among other shows, they can also accept shows with only so-so demos but a good total viewer number. One thing I've always liked about ABC is their good balance of shows.

But yeah, the demo is definitely overrated.
