I'm just surprised it's still popular because back in the early 90's the NWA was the wrestling everyone watched not WWF. Maybe Vince McMahon made some over the Years

It's more about the story telling than anything else. I know this sounds cheesy, but it is like a male soap opera.

Yes but the NWA through an ownership change morphed into WCW which for a while there did surpass the WWE in ratings.(remember the Monday night wars?)

True, but before WCW turned things around, they were a mess.

WCW had the momentum in the mid-90's with the nWo, but WWF/E overtook them with the Stone Cold Steve Austin/ Mr. Mcmahon feud. Soon, WCW was so badly mismanaged and lost so much money that they eventually had to sell to Vince, and that was that.

As for WrestleMania, I too will be watching this Sunday.

Once it became WCW it started on a slow spiral downhill toward crappiness which escalated when Eric Bischoff was put in charge. It's too bad you weren't around to experience the NWA when it was worth watching, The stuff from your era and WCW doesn't even compare.

The NWA was good until Ted Turner bought the company. They ran out of money when Crockett owned the NWA, so they had to sell. But to me, they always had better talent than the WWF.

I don't know where any of you guys are getting this info on some of these wrestlers being dead that are still alive, but I know for a fact these wrestlers are gone:

Yeah, the Crockett years were the best. I started watching NWA wrestling in 1985. 85-88 were the best years.

You can probably go there and get that info. Try Wikipedia too. I find it interesting because it will tell you something behind the scenes about some wrestlers that you never knew at the time.

Actually, The Royal Rumble is in January, Survivor Series was and still is in November. The winner of the Royal Rumble goes on to fight in the main event at Wrestlemania.

I feel the same way. Its just too expensive and I've been watching wrestling for 25 yrs. It should be a good show with The Rock, Steve Austin coming back. The Miz vs. John Cena, Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio etc. Wrestlemania is still a big event despite the fact that wrestling isnt as popular as it was 12 yrs. ago.
