If I like it, I buy it. And I buy all seasons or none. That's just how I'm programmed. :) UMfan77 04-16-2009, 02:29 PM No show exists for me. If I like it, I buy it. And I buy all seasons or none. That's just how I'm programmed. :) I have to ask...how many dvd box sets do you own? Eric Paddon 04-16-2009, 05:53 PM I am enjoying the S1 release of "The Paper Chase" but I have no interest in the Showtime episodes if they should ever make it to DVD because to me the "freedom" to see Hart cursing and having many casual affairs only serves to destroy the great sense of Midwestern naivete he displayed in the original CBS episodes that make them so fascinating to watch. I have the last episode where they graduate anyway from an off-air recording so I don't need to see what else happens. Dusty's Fan 04-19-2009, 04:24 PM Probably the following sitcoms: Alice (Linda Lavin series) Good Times One Day at a Time Growing Pains Diff'rent Strokes Family Ties The Cosby Show Who's the Boss The Nanny Home Improvement Designing Women Facts of Life Perfect Strangers The Jeffersons And dramas: Mannix Hawaii Five-O Kojak Columbo Mission Impossible Perry Mason Rawhide Adam-12 I like all of the above series, and I've spent lots of time watching all of them, but at this time I wouldn't be interested in building a complete library of all episodes. I could change my mind in some cases -- for example, I like Meredith Baxter-Birney so I could go for more than one or two seasons of Family Ties. I know that's a longish list, but most of those series ran for a long time -- translating into quite a committment for complete runs. Adamantium 04-20-2009, 12:15 PM I have to ask...how many dvd box sets do you own? I forget. I took a count a few months ago and it was a little over 500 individual season sets. I have a list on one of the threads here, but it's not been updated in a couple years. Maybe, I should update it soon. I love TV and have no social life. All in all... not bad. ;) Jude The Obscure 04-20-2009, 01:21 PM I think Mork & Mindy for me....I have season 1 (it was free), but I don't enjoy the show so much that it is a must own for me. McGillicuddy 04-20-2009, 02:31 PM Some shows I put off getting, just because I can't buy all at once, but usually if I start a series, I feel compelled to complete it. but, Petticoat Junction, I don't think I want the last 2 seasons, just wasn't any good without Bea Benaderet. Jude The Obscure 04-20-2009, 11:31 PM ^well that's beauty of everyone's diverse taste. I will want to own all of PJ, but as for The Lucy Show, if CBS at least puts out the three Danfield/Vivian Vance years, I'll be happy! comedyfreak 04-21-2009, 09:37 AM I think Mork & Mindy for me....I have season 1 (it was free), but I don't enjoy the show so much that it is a must own for me. That's how I feel about Taxi, which I got for a Bday present a couple of years ago. UMfan77 04-21-2009, 02:42 PM I forget. Maybe, I should update it soon. I love TV and have no social life. All in all... not bad. ;) I own about 12 season sets (various sitcoms/dramas) and I want to own more, but it would cost me a fortune! I also love TV, so you're not alone. esl 04-22-2009, 04:49 AM ^well that's beauty of everyone's diverse taste. I will want to own all of PJ, but as for The Lucy Show, if CBS at least puts out the three Danfield/Vivian Vance years, I'll be happy! Regarding The Lucy Show: I agree, I would only buy the first three years. I have no desire to see the final seasons that were pretty much one celebrity guest appearance after another. OH Nuts! 04-22-2009, 07:07 AM First off, shows that overlap another series I have like Rhoda for example. I like Rhoda the show and characters but I can see them on my Mary Tyler Moore eps. I like Petticoat Junction but I won't buy any more of it bec. of the way they've been releasing it - parts of a season are to me a rip off. Mostly I refrain from buying shows because of clutter issues. But if I like a show I'll buy a season or two of it if I can get themn at a great price. Shows I like but would not buy the entire series: Family Ties, The Facts of Life, Family Matters, The Brady Bunch, Growing Pains & there are probably some more - but this is off the top of my head. Actually, Petticoat Junction is being released in complete seasons now, but your point of releasing just a part of a season I agree with. My 3 Sons, from the same era, is being released in 1/2 season sets, and I'm not anywhere as enthused about collecting MTS as I am Petticoat, Beverly Hillbillies and The Lucy Show which are now coming out in season sets. MikeLutton 04-25-2009, 04:09 AM i got the A team whole season 1 through 5 Diff rent strokes season one. Jeffersons season one. few others |
