MickeyMac 03-04-2009, 06:28 PM We got a thread about the 50's now for the next decade.
Lets talk about the positive stuff.
The music of course
Better TV shows
good fashion(this is the decade the mini skirt was introduced :happyface )
things were cheaper.
Sharop 03-04-2009, 07:03 PM I love 1960s music.
There were some real steps forward made in the 1960s.
The Bee Gees' career started, with their first proper album being released in 1967, although they'd been recording songs as far back as late 1959, with their first record deal being made in 1963. It was in 1967 that they became famous, though.
Marvo301 03-04-2009, 07:04 PM There were some great TV Shows in the 60's, including my favorite "The Dick Van Dyke Show". The 60's is also my favorite decade for music. Oh! and the best thing about the 60's? I was born!!!
Cactus Jack 03-04-2009, 07:29 PM Music was awesome

JamesG 03-04-2009, 11:26 PM Maybe someone out there can help me with this...
I don't know if he was from the 60s or the 70s but he was a very famous anti-war demonstrator. He was known for wearing the American flag and his colorful shirts.
I believe he was also shown in the film Forest Gump when Tom Hanks speaks at one of his rallys.
Anyone know who I am talking about?
catlover79 03-04-2009, 11:41 PM Need I say more??
MickeyMac 03-05-2009, 07:39 PM ^
First off that just made my day :happyface
Second we got some great TV shows from the 60's including the one above. About 70% of the TV shows I like were from the 60's.
Also you could see rock and roll on prime time thanks to Shindig and Hullabaloo

One of the best things about the '60s, TV or otherwise. My favorite sitcom of all-time is "Bewitched." :)

Nothing cheesy about Hullabaloo that and those other rock and roll shows back then rocked!!! Some of the best shows ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also I noticed that people seemed to be a bit more friendly and respectful towards one another back in the 60's, despite all the turmoil that was going on.
Fleet 03-06-2009, 07:43 PM Nothing cheesy about Hullabaloo that and those other rock and roll shows back then rocked!!! Some of the best shows ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree. Well done shows and those with the Go-Go dancers were great! :)

Marvo301 03-06-2009, 07:49 PM Something I liked about 60's TV was variety shows. The 60's was a heyday for variety television. Some of my favorites were The Andy Williams Show, The Red Skelton Show, and The Carol Burnett Show.
MickeyMac 03-07-2009, 02:13 PM Just read something in a book about Music TV shows, it sorta fits here. Its a quote from Ian Whitcomb "The girls on Hollywood A Go Go, were more likely to sleep with you, while you had to be one of the Beach Boys to sleep with on of the girls from Shindig. Thought that was kinda cute.
KurtfromPitts 03-07-2009, 02:18 PM More choices in supermarket shopping in the Pittsburgh area [Giant Eagle, Loblaws/Del Farm, Acme, Thorofare, Kroger, A&P, Foodland, Shop 'n Save], as well as many retail stores issuing trading stamps [S&H Green, Top Value, PS-Profit Sharing-Blue, Plaid. Also, the introduction of new cereals [Lucky Charms, Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, Honey-Comb, etc.]

In that case, I'll take the one in the far right in the photo I posted above! :D :happyface
Cactus Jack 03-07-2009, 04:03 PM The most 60s thing I have is an old Austin Powers Halloween costume. DOES THAT COUNT?
Our old house in Dallas was built in the 50s, and it was obvious until we fixed up all the bathrooms and kitchen and stuff. But the 60s still had houses with pink bathrooms right?
