....who here has done it? My brother bought our groceries online once, when we we snowed in, and he wasn't very satisfied with the experience and hasn't done it again since then.
Another time though, he ordered a pizza for our dinner online, so it was ready when we got to the place, and was VERY satisfied.

That's why I refuse to shop online. We can't afford to be losing even more jobs. It may be more convenient and less aggrivating than going to the store, but it would be bad for an already shaky job situation.

I do wish that stores would train their employees better though. I know from experience it's both physically and emotionally draining, but is a polite smile and hello from the cashier too much to ask for? And can the bagger please bag the groceries properly so cold stuff stays cold and bread doesn't get squished?

I refuse to shop for groceries online. But have bought pork roll from a pork roll place that they deliver to my door since there is no pork roll in San Diego.

Stop & Shop has a delivery service called Peapod, and I used it off and on for years when I was working. I had no problems. They even took coupons and applied them to your next order. I didn't order meat or produce. I want to pick those items out myself. I was very pleased. I only stopped as it was expensive. The groceries cost 10% to 20% more, then there was a $5 delivery fee, and a $5 tip. I never had a single problem. Can food, cereal, pasta, coffee, etc, no way of screwing that up. Stop & Shop is a quality grocery store to begin with, and they run their delivery service well.

I order things from Schwan's online, they are at my house every two weeks, they just left my house an hour ago. I have been happy with their service and food. Other than that, I go to the grocery store and pick out my own groceries.

I know what you're saying. There are so many of my co-workers that are just plain lazy. I do my best to always be friendly and say hello and even ask them about their day. I also put their groceries in their cart for them so they don't have to kill themselves trying to stretch across the counter to get them.

Buying groceries online? NEVER!

It's best to go to the place and know what you want.

When I go to a grocery store, I can choose and take my items, as opposed to waiting.

For standard items, there's nothing wrong with ordering online. People order clothes, music, everything online. I ordered a daybed online two weeks ago. It's beautiful. For staples on your grocery list, having them delivered saves time and heavy lifting. I don't need to hold the following items in my hand. I know what they are:

Pet food, litter and pet treats.
Cases of soda or bottled water.
Can soup, tomato sauce, can vegetables.
Can coffee, sugar, cake mix, oil, boxed pasta.
Cleaning supplies, i.e. 409, SOS, Windex.
Paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, paper plates and cups.
Shampoo, soap, toothpaste, mouthwash.

Agreed, The only thing I'd need to see before I purchased it would be meat, dairy and produce.

I order everything from either Stop & Shop or Target. Nowadays, it can be very difficult to get a time slot for delivery and the pickins' are slim. A lot of stuff will be out of stock.

I also order a lot of dinners on line at the pizza parlor, the Tex-Mex place, the deli and I FINALLY found a Chinese place near me that delivers. My usual Chinese restaurants have been on total lock-down because of Covid-19, but there is a particular place that still delivers. I had their food about 10 years ago and it was very good from what I remember, so I will be ordering it as soon as I get my Direct Deposit on Wednesday.

I will not leave the house for any reason unless the house is on fire, so it's only online shopping for now, maybe for the rest of my life now.

Here is hoping that they won't be to busy and you can get in and out without being around to many people, try to maintain the 6 feet --- don't forget to wash your hands as soon as you get back. Stay safe!

Here is what someone in our town did, they took a stiff tape measure, locked it into 6 feet and made sure people would stay 6 feet away. :)

I haven't ever ordered groceries online ! Even with this corona pandemic going on ! I just try to go when I think it won't be overly busy and stay a safe distance from other shoppers and by now I have figured out which markets are less busy and ones that are way too hectic and I stay away from them ! ;)Grocery shopping is one of my favorite things to do in life! I really enjoy pushing a cart around and picking up/out the food household/health and beauty items etc. I need ! :)The situation these days with the paranoia at the stores is heartbreaking to me !:( But I will continue to go to the market and pick out my own groceries if it kills me!!

I don't order groceries online, but I call up the store and place my shopping order like you would at a take-out restaurant. I've been doing this for a while before the current situation. Now they have been rationing certain items like how many cases of water, cleaning supplies, and over-the-counter medicine you can purchase in 1 order. Alcohol and tobacco products were never allowed over-the-phone so you would have to get those in-person if you want them.

A lot of the local supermarkets around me do this and there is only a $6.00 service charge. At some other markets you would have to shop there in-person, but they would deliver to you.

I went to a West Side Market and did my shopping this morning. I was a little nervous but I had my mask, gloves and Lysol. I gave the cashier a $20 tip. To me they’re on the front lines, and I know they can use the money.

I don't like self service registers! I always felt that it was going to put cashiers out of a job! And it's so impersonal! I love having my groceries checked out by the cashier , I love smiling and talking with them (harder with this pandemic, they are so overworked and it's best just to get through their line as quickly as possible and not spread germs ) :(!

Listen, many make crappy money. Maybe their cheap as# bosses are paying them a little more. They are putting themselves on the line. I hope others follow my lead, if they can afford to.

I’m just hoping I get to the other side of this. If I do, I’ve made the decision to start giving some of my savings away to people who can really use it. Better than waiting until I’m dead.

If I get to the other side, I’m going to take maybe 20-25% of my savings and pass it on to people I know struggle financially. And the rest to non-profits I strongly believe in.

I'm waiting for my delivery from Handy Pantry now. Thank goodness for Handy Pantry! I ordered a butt load of stuff and they were only out of stock for one item! My strategy is just to go out VERY EARLY - first thing when store opens. I have enough for at least another 7 days. I shop smaller stores, so I cam maintain proper spacing.

^^^ Stay safe when you go out. It's good that you go out early to avoid too many people. I'm too scared to even leave my property! The only time I go outside is to put kibble out for the cat. I no longer will even allow my elderly dad to go to the laundromat anymore. I make him use a clothes line.

Thanks, I do.

I don’t blame you about going out. I don’t go out to the laundromat either. I hand wash stuff & let it drip dry. Most people seem to flock to Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, etc. to buy stuff. NOT ME! Folks seem to be overlooking West Side markets, which is a blessing. Only 1 other shopper was there.
