I have been on a mission over the last few days to learn different ways to relax, and one of the ways I'm trying to do it, is through music. This thread is dedicated to songs that have relaxed, or calmed you over the years. Please feel free to even post a link to the song if you'd like. Here is one of the most relaxing, and calming songs I've ever heard. The melody, as well as the lyrics are absolutely beautiful IMO!! I will post others as I think of them.

Enigma - Return To Innocence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JpJjsHgYHA)

I agree. Gregorian chants seem to melt away any kind of stress.

I have never listened to the channel, but I do visit my favorite spa on a regular basis so I know what you mean. Spa music is very relaxing.:sleep2:

I also practice yoga and three of my favorite CDs are Santuary and Satori (both by Riley Lee), and Quiet Heart/Spirit Wind by Richard Warner (actually a 2 CD set). :)

There's something magical and soothing about the music in the movie Casper. Random, I know, but it really is beautiful. It's composed by James Horner who's pretty amazing. He's also composed music for the movie Titanic, as well as many others. Here's Casper's Lullaby. I'm in love with this song. Sometimes I'd play it before I went to sleep.

OMG, I flove that song so much. So, so, so much. "Casper" was one of my all-time favorites as a kid, and it's still a favorite to watch now, and that music...ah....it just brings me back to those days so much. Now I'm gonna listen to it 100 times a day lol

Herb Alpert - Rise

That's such a smooth, mellow, low-key song, and I've been listening to it a lot. Make sure you find and listen to the full 7+ minute version, it's on YT as well.

Speaking of instrumentals, there are a whole lotta soap themes that are truly relaxing, especially the more orchestral themes from the 1960s and 1970s. Here is one of my #1 faves:

"Guiding Light" 1991-1999 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy2hBEVN98U)

And, of course, he's a gorgeous Henry Mancini version of "The Young and the Restless."

haha it really is pretty. I agree with Charles, instrumentals really are the most soothing. Being reminded of your childhood helps, too. I remember seeing Casper when I was 6, so I grew up with it and the music in it.

For All We Know - Donny Hathaway. Mostly it is just piano and vocal, then strings and woodwinds come in for a stunning finish. It's one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Anything by Roberta Flack and/or Donny Hathaway, the Carpenters, Carole King, Gordon Lightfoot...terrific mellow music.

Yes! I am in love with that song. It's so beautiful, and he definately sings the best version of it. I've actually been listening to that song a lot recently.

I fell in love with that song the first time I heard it - and it's since become the most played song on my iPod. Anything Donny Hathaway did is beautiful - it's a shame that he died so young and under such tragic circumstances. :rip:

Summer Breeze - The Isley Brothers. The original by Seals and Croft is relaxing as well.

Horse With No Name - America

Sing - The Carpenters

Tin Man - America

Muskrat Love - America

Midnight at the Oasis - Maria Muldaur

Crystal Blue Persuasion - Tommy James and the Shondells

Playdown - The Bee Gees (one of their songs from before they came famous, written and recorded in 1966.)

Wildflower - The Bee Gees

Guilty - written by Barry Gibb for Barbra Streisand. The actual released version doesn't relax me but listening to it performed live by the Bee Gees during one of their ONO concerts in 1997 - listening to their performance of it then relaxes me.
