It's that time we shall give up something between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday.

This year...it will be forum blogging. So that means...I won't be heard from for a few weeks and I'll be working on my scripts.

I made that into a New Years Resolution, but because I have been depressed for a few days, I stopped writing scripts for awhile.

Good question. I've been thinking about it, but I can't decide. I'll keep you posted.

it only counts if you celebrate CARNIVAL first.

I'll miss seeing you post.

I don't know what I'm giving up. Maybe I'll try not to complain during Lent. It's going to be a long 40 days...

:lol: Seriously though, I'm going to attempt it. I think people in general find it too easy to complain and too difficult to compliment. That's not what Jesus would do.

I've decided that except for the occasional email, I am going to be giving up the internet for Lent. It's going to be very difficult because going 40 days without posting here and on the other websites I visit is going to be nearly impossible. However, I want to spend the extra time reading and getting to know myself, God and Jesus better. And getting to know Jesus better is what Lent is all about. :)

Hey, girl... I applaud you on that... I think it's so wonderful when people actually take time to think during Lent about what they can do to be more Christlike. It takes a lot of strength... so I'll be praying for you!:D

I'm giving up liver and onions, fruitcake, being mean to my cats, and I'll think of a few others.

Just kidding. I don't give up anything. I'm a bad Catholic.

I know. I'm a bad Catholic, lol. Seriously, I believe in God and Jesus. I live a good life, and I'm good to others. I'm hoping that gets me in. ;)

I don't do lent, but I am enjoying Carnival here in New Orleans. It's been nuts here. We've had fun with the parades for the last month or so...but you couldn't pay me enough to go near Bourbon Street right now. The traffic is HORRIBLE right now, but I'm still enjoying being here. It'll probably be my only time so we are enjoying everything.

After a lot of thought, you guys... I've decided that, for Lent, I will be taking a brief, 40-day hiatus from SO. It's going to be difficult... but I think it will be a good time for me to clear my mind, and focus on the Lord and a lot of meditation this Lent.
So I'll be here the rest of today and tomorrow... but after that, not until a little after Easter probably. I'll miss you guys so much.. but, as always, I think Lent will be an intersting journey... and I shall return soon.
Big hugs to all, I will be praying for everyone. :D (Please don't forget me! :lol: )

my brother in Arkansas is also a southern baptist, and when he converted our mother was upset with him for a while, because our entire family was raised as catholics.

well Janice, don't feel bad; I'm also catholic and I also don't give up anything.:)

I do go to church though; but just on Christmas and Easter.

My parents are giving up desserts. I don't know if I will join them or not-lol What I am leaning towards is giving up buying things online.

I'm back and I have a reason...

I'll be at a friend's house who'll be doing nursing in Kenya, and even though she has a computer I can't use it. So I'll make this exception and thank God I'm not Catholic because if I was, I'll have to find another church because they've been closing a few.

I don't usually 'give up' the usual stuff for Lent, which is fine, but I came across this piece which for me expresses the true meaning of the season. Though I often fall short, I think these ideals are worth of striving for.

Fast from judging others;
Feast on Christ dwelling in them.

Fast from fear of illness;
Feast on the healing power of God.

Fast from words that pollute;
Feast on speech that purifies.

Fast from discontent;
Feast on gratitude.

Fast from anger;
Feast on patience.

Fast from pessimism;
Feast on optimism.

Fast from negatives;
Feast on alternatives.

Fast from bitterness;
Feast on forgiveness.

Fast from self-concern;
Feast on compassion.

Fast from suspicion;
Feast on truth.

Fast from gossip;
Feast on purposeful silence.

Fast from problems that overwhelm;
Feast on prayer that sustains.

Fast from worry;
Feast on faith.

That is nice, Yooch. Thanks for sharing :) We should live that way not just during Lent, but throughout the whole year.
