I had heard of that but I still had to look it up.

Wiki says that Sweetest Day is giving small presents such as greeting cards, candy, and flowers to loved ones.

It's primarily in the Great Lakes region and parts of the Northeast US.

It's the 3rd Sat. in Oct.

Sweetest Day has also been referred to as a "concocted promotion" created by the candy industry solely to increase sales of candy.

Valentine's Day doesn't bother me, but I'm married. I hate Mother's Day. There's no escaping it. For at least a month beforehand, it's a media blitz campaign, in both print and tv. Every store is inundated with Mother's Day signs and gifts. Same goes for the holidays, mid-November to January 2nd. I imagine someday I may also hate Valentine's Day, but for now, it's one day that's okay.

Some friends of mine are putting together a Valentine's Day party at this bar, so I'll probably go to that. Its not a romantic kind of thing, just friends hanging out, even most of my friends are either dating or married, so I am the odd man out.
