I do recall seeing him in Tom Sawyer (with Jodie Foster as Becky Thatcher), and wasn't he also in Johnny Tremain? Jude The Obscure 12-15-2008, 06:51 PM Don't know about Johnny Tremain, but I vividly remember the Tom Sawyer he did--that to me, was always the Tom Sawyer movie to me. (I know Mickey Rooney and Ron Howard also did versions). tv star collector 12-15-2008, 08:39 PM I haven't seen it since it first aired, on NBC. About all I can remember is that Fred Gwynne (Car 54, The Munsters) had a key role in it. jehobden 12-15-2008, 11:37 PM NBC originally aired this on The Hallmark Hall of Fame. I remember seeing this rerun on a local station in 1980 and then eventually checking it out of my church library to watch it. It was a nice show, and addition to Johnny Whitaker, it starred Fred Gwynne, Tony Randall, and E.G. Marshall (as God!). Mary Jo Catlett, later of M*A*S*H and Diff'rent Strokes, had a bit role as an angel. catlover79 12-15-2008, 11:50 PM Don't know about Johnny Tremain, but I vividly remember the Tom Sawyer he did--that to me, was always the Tom Sawyer movie to me. All I remember is, it was about a boy who goes to heaven, for some reason. Jude The Obscure 12-18-2008, 01:05 AM Correct, Treky. He plays a boy who dies in an accident, is introduced to life in Heaven, which is preparing for the birth of Jesus on earth and he wonders what gift he can present the Christ child.
