Paris Hilton has claimed that she is "living proof" that blondes are not stupid.
The 27-year-old insisted that her real persona is completely different to how she is portrayed in the press.
The Sun quotes her as saying: "I'm very intelligent. I'm capable of doing everything put to me.
"I've two records, I've launched a perfume and I want my own hotel chain. I'm the living proof that blondes are not stupid."
Hilton recently completed her second album but is reportedly eager for producer Mark Ronson to come on board and rework the tracks.

In related news, I would like to quote Tina Fey's feelings on Paris Hilton:
"She's a piece of ****. The people at "SNL" were like 'Maybe she'll be fun, maybe she won't take herself so seriously.' She takes herself so seriously! She's unbelievably dumb and so proud of how dumb she is. She looks like a tranny up close... Also, you would walk down the hall and find what just looked like nasty wads of Barbie hair on the stairs... Her hair is like a Fraggle."
TripperFan 12-12-2008, 12:09 PM Sounds like the only IQ tests she's had are the ones she's given herself.
I'm sure she blended that perfume herself after hand gathering the ingredients from meadows!

Yeah, there's a nice bridge in Brooklyn up for grabs...
Sharop 12-12-2008, 02:00 PM I've actually come around to the view that a lot of her stupidity is likely an act that she puts on. I don't think she can really be as stupid as she sometimes gives the impression of being.
robyrob 12-12-2008, 03:05 PM geez - next she'll be claiming that she's an ACTRESS!

MickeyMac 12-12-2008, 04:22 PM Can anybody tell me what the hell is Paris Hilton famous for?
All I ever see her do is get out on an SUV(that she is not driving, which is probably a good thing), yacking on her cellphone, going into a nightclub, coming out of the nightclub, getting back in the SUV, and off to another nightclub, while talking on her cellphone.
I see girls here in town do that all the time, and they are not famous and are better looking than Paris.
To me she is a rich girl who does nothing but party.
HuntingtonM15 12-12-2008, 04:24 PM A classic Paris quote from a Simple Life episode:
Boy: I have a big quiz in Physics tomorrow.
Paris: Is it a pop quiz...or do you know about it?
Janice 12-12-2008, 04:31 PM A successful Reality Show that ran for five years, a couple of albums (one reaching 6 on Billboard), two books (one a NY Times Bestseller), a hugely successful perfume line as well as jewelry, an animal rights activist, no substance abuse problems (one DUI doesn't qualify). She earned seven million dollars last year, on her own. Yup, she's dumber than a bag of rocks. Ugly too.

catlover79 12-12-2008, 04:35 PM Don't forget that she first came into the spotlight with that sex tape she did a few years back - and right after that came The Simple Life. I think the only worthwhile thing she did was that John McCain spoof ad.

 I agree. I don't really get all of the Paris bashing anymore. Love her or hate her, it's hard to deny that she actually is a smart business woman.
Janice 12-12-2008, 04:40 PM :dollar: Money can do amazing things.
Jealousy can too. Brings out the worst in people. Makes them hate a person who's never done a bad thing to them or anyone else. There are people who need to hate to feel good about themselves. Personally, I can't imagine hating a person without a good reason.
catlover79 12-12-2008, 04:43 PM  I agree. I don't really get all of the Paris bashing anymore. Love her or hate her, it's hard to deny that she actually is a smart business woman.
Plus I'm sure she has the best business people working with her, too. I never understood what the big deal is about her, but I don't have anything against her personally.
Sharop 12-12-2008, 04:59 PM I can understand why people don't have a lot of respect for Paris (I don't think she's the best role model for younger people - not the worst either) but I agree with Janice about not understanding why some people seemed to really HATE her.
I don't think anyone here seems to hate her, but back when she was in jail for a period I checked her IMDB forums out of interest and some of the things people were saying about her were awful. I also didn't like the way that some people on the forums would just attack Paris fans for no reason; there were a number of people there who were fans who were very intelligent and articulate. I made a few posts stating that they shouldn't generalise and lump all fans of Paris together and got accused of being a fan myself. I'm not a fan, but I don't dislike her.
TripperFan 12-12-2008, 05:04 PM I can't say I hate her at all, but for some reason, she's the one "celeb" I do enjoying bashing at times. I guess it comes from the first time I really saw her or "knew" who she was and it was the sex tape (I think I even still have a copy around - why I don't know!). Maybe I keep it as a "How Not To" video! Cuz she wasn't all that great (if you know what I mean).
And yes, while she's not stupid, it's not as though she's a brilliant businesswoman all herself. If anything, Nicky seems to be more serious about her business. Paris has people who market her well. And while she's not a toad, she also isn't what I would call a real beauty by any means.
I guess it's the attitude she emits of being a legend in her own mind that annoys me. ;)
catlover79 12-12-2008, 05:07 PM ^ Cathie, you summed that up perfectly - that's just how I feel.

i agree, really. she's said in interviews that she purposely said stupid things on the simple life ("walmart? do they sell walls there?") just to keep the show from being boring. whether or not she deserves her fame and money, i think it's just the media that has made her out to be some brainless slut.

This is what I don't understand. I've never read anything where she's indicated that she thinks she's a legend in her own mind. Seems to me that she goes about her business, and she certainly knows what she's doing. All business people surround themselves with smart advisors, from Trump to Martha Stewart, who was stupid enough to end up in prison.
People watched Hilton's show tv because they liked her, not her advisors. I read an interview where Paris talked about the perceived notion that she's a dummy. She said that people don't know that she goes to work every day, has meeting after meeting and that she works hard. I believe her. I wouldn't say she's brilliant, but she's a far cry from stupid, and that's what she's stating here.
This is a woman who doesn't have to do anything, doesn't have to get out of bed in the morning. Instead, she's ambitious and has created a small empire for herself, while still in her 20s. I think that's commendable. Regarding her looks, that's a matter of personal opinion of course, but I think she has a delicate beauty, and obviously takes care of herself. I think she's tops in the style department, with her hair, makeup and wardrobe. She goes for a certain look and hits the mark.
Many young people do stupid things, pose for nudies, make videos or strip their way through college. Vanessa Williams lost her crown over it. Paris did some dumb things while in her teens and early 20s, but's matured, and she's turned out to be a successful young woman. I know she's one of America's favorite punching bags, but I think she's cool.
MickeyMac 12-12-2008, 05:45 PM I dont hate Paris Hilton, but I dont see why the media makes a big deal about everything she does, but then again we do live in a celebrity culture.
TripperFan 12-12-2008, 05:50 PM ^ No problem J - I totally see your point. And I did watch the first couple of seasons of Simple Life - actually, I liked her more than Nicole at the time, but I like Nicole very much now. They've both matured that's for sure (and let's face it - in their mid twenties we should hope it starts).
Again, remember I'm making cracks mainly about the video which was back when she was more wild - and trust me, it IS brutal - I'd be cutting up whoever it was in this one if you've never seen it. ;)
As for Trump and Stewart, not that I love either of them, but they did built their empires from small startup businesses (at least Stewart did). It's a LOT easier to start a successful business when there's previous money and business savvy in the family to back it which Paris is privvy to. Not that there's anything wrong with that - just it's not like she started driving rickshaws to owning a billion dollar manufacturing business (I'm thinking of a guy I used to work for on that last comparison).
Janice 12-12-2008, 06:10 PM I can understand why people don't have a lot of respect for Paris (I don't think she's the best role model for younger people - not the worst either) but I agree with Janice about not understanding why some people seemed to really HATE her.

Last year, when that jail thing was going on, I saw hate on this site to the likes of nothing I'd ever seen or have seen since. Hate that should be reserved for OJ Simpson. One member called her the c word. Ten-page threads of pure hate and ridicule. That's actually when I became a fan. I knew nothing about Paris before that. I took a closer look and couldn't understand the hate. It seemed disproportionate to me, to the point that a Physc professor should conduct a study on it.
It simply doesn't make sense to me. My husband says it's simple. She's filthy rich and beautiful, and it's nothing more than jealousy. Although I think that's a huge part of it, I think there's more at work here. Sarah made a good point that a lot of it is media generated, and I think that's also true, but there's more. I just don't understand the HATE. I'm talking HATE for no reason. What the hell has this woman ever done to deserve this scorn? She's made mistakes like all of us, but she's never hurt anybody. She's selling products left and right, so she certainly has her fans. Still, like you stated, those haters on the IMDB attacking Paris, why? What is it about this woman that makes some normally reasonable people go nuts. It's on par with Bush hate. Bush hate, I can understand. Paris hate, I honestly don't get. It's not rational.

I have to hope that most of the people who profess to actually hate her, such as those people on IMDB, don't really mean what they say and are just throwing around such words carelessly without really thinking. I've never been able to conceive of actually hating a person who hasn't actually done anything to me.
If someone said something like, "I dislike Paris because she projects a shallow image, has behaved thoughtlessly and selfishly at times and I don't feel she is a good role model for younger people" then I think that would be a reasonable statement. That would probably be close to my summary of Paris, except that despite that, I don't actually dislike her, I don't really pay too much attention to her. But a statement like that would be okay, it's giving clear reasons of why they don't much like her without going overboard and getting psychotic.
But saying something like "Paris should die and rot in hell", which I'm sure was said at least once by someone on the IMDB boards is quite silly. I agree that she's spoilt, and has behaved stupidly and selfishly and I don't think she's been a good role model, but she isn't EVIL.

Just like the way she always struts out for the camera when she comes from backstage. 99.9% of his other guests just walk like normal people.
Sharop 12-12-2008, 07:16 PM In some ways I think Paris may have become trapped in the image that she's projecting of herself (and I think it is mostly just an image.)
The image sells her, so in a way, it probably is for attention and popularity. But I think Paris may be sort of "stuck" in this image now - she's so used to it that it's just become a part of her routine, I think. As though she's stuck in a rut, image-wise and maybe afraid to change.
I think it seems that she has calmed down somewhat but I think if she's to win respect from more people she has to change her image.
I would have no idea if she's interested in any kind of further study at all (I would guess no, at this point) but taking some kind of course at a university or a community college might change some people's view of her. It's true that she doesn't need to, but plenty of teen actors/actresses, even ones who intend to have a solid career in acting, go on to higher education.

I think Letterman came off looking bad, as he is also afflicted with IPH (Irrational Paris Hatred). He was very cruel to Paris and certainly didn't treat her as a "guest". He ragged on her about the jail thing for half of her nine minute appearance. She had to just about beg him to stop asking her about the jail thing. He ridiculed and laughed at her. She handled it with grace, as she's polite and well-spoken. He finally took mercy, and for about three minutes he treated her with the respect that she deserved as a guest, even then getting his jabs in.

I don't think Paris should have to do anything to prove herself to people. She's successful in her own right. A famous name only gets you so far. She works at her success, and is a busy person. I don't think going back to school at age 27, in an attempt to appease those with IPH is the answer. She doesn't party anymore, from what I can see. In time, the haters will find someone else's bones to pick, most likely when Paris gets married and has kids. Paris holds her head high, goes about her many business ventures and ignores the negativity.
She does have her fans, as evidenced by the success of her products. Her fans probably outnumber the haters, but the haters are just louder. When people cheered on that picture of her crying being led back to jail, I was stunned. You would have thought she killed someone. I think my feelings on this are rooted in my hatred of gangups.
PunkyP0WER 12-12-2008, 08:18 PM i don't "hate" paris but i do dislike her. shes just one of those celebrities that are full of themselves and i think thats where the dislike comes from. in one interview she was quoted as saying, and im paraphrasing some "every decade had an iconic blonde...int the 80's/90's it was Princess Diana and now its me" are you kidding? to put yourself in the same class as princess diana is sickening!. i don't think she has any talent to speak of - singing wise, she's nothing special. acting - forget about it!, her books i'm sure were written by a ghost writer, her fragrances are just a bottle she sticks her name on to after chemists give her trays of samples to stick under her nose for her to approve - she didn't skip through a meadow picking these ingredients out. she is the creation of a pr/media machine and is basically a puppet of her marketers. with that said, there are people who do buy into her image and what it sells and thats fine or even truly like her personality and lifestyle and thats fine too. to each their own. i don't wish her ill will or hate her, just not my cup of tea.

^clip from an episode of south park that was made for the purpose of bashing paris. while i admit that episode was funny, i think it's things like that that make her out to be something she isn't. i've had very mixed feelings about her through the years but i never bought into the idea that she was stuck up and a slut. if i'm not mistaken, those sex tapes were with only one person each, and got released without her permission. i hate it when female celebrities get labeled as "sluts" every time a detail of their sex lives gets released to the public.

That tells me all I need to know about Letterman and Paris. He acted like the nasty creep that he is to guests he dislikes, and she was polite and well-spoken. Every interview I've ever seen of her, she conducts herself with style and grace. If you've got something that shows otherwise, I'd love to see it.
Brian Damage 12-12-2008, 09:33 PM While her family name got her through the door and that porn flick also didn't hurt. Paris certainly capitalized on her fame. As much as people claim to hate her, if pople were not interested in her life or business ventures, the media wouldn't bother her. I guess some people are just happy picking on others, perhaps out of jealousy, because they aren't as rich or powerful as she is.

Every interview I've ever seen of her, she conducts herself with style and grace. If you've got something that shows otherwise, I'd love to see it.
Whoa...I said nothing about how Paris acts. Don't put words in my mouth.
Janice 12-12-2008, 09:59 PM Whoa...I said nothing about how Paris acts. Don't put words in my mouth.
Never said you did, really. Whoa, chill out. I guess I misunderstood when you brought up Letterman, and how he makes her look foolish....attention whore. I thought that strut from backstage was in reference to tv appearances, and a natural leap to Letterman. My bad. I had it all wrong. Let's take this from the top. What are you talking about?
Janice 12-12-2008, 10:27 PM i don't "hate" paris but i do dislike her. shes just one of those celebrities that are full of themselves and i think thats where the dislike comes from. in one interview she was quoted as saying, and im paraphrasing some "every decade had an iconic blonde...int the 80's/90's it was Princess Diana and now its me" are you kidding? to put yourself in the same class as princess diana is sickening!. i don't think she has any talent to speak of - singing wise, she's nothing special. acting - forget about it!, her books i'm sure were written by a ghost writer, her fragrances are just a bottle she sticks her name on to after chemists give her trays of samples to stick under her nose for her to approve - she didn't skip through a meadow picking these ingredients out. she is the creation of a pr/media machine and is basically a puppet of her marketers. with that said, there are people who do buy into her image and what it sells and thats fine or even truly like her personality and lifestyle and thats fine too. to each their own. i don't wish her ill will or hate her, just not my cup of tea.
Paris denies that quote, says she was misquoted as saying that Diana was her inspiration in regards to being a blonde in the spotlight. Who knows. Helen Mirrren did make the comparison between the two women.
Some liked her singing. I never heard it, but I know her first album sold well. If she had a ghost writer for her books, and I don't know how you're sure she did, that's not uncommon with celebs, as many are not natural writers.
Paris never claimed being a chemist and making the perfumes personally that bear her label. Liz Taylor, J-Lo, so many celebs have perfumes. I don't doubt that Paris was involved in choosing the blends she wanted to reflect herself. Regarding her lifestyle, I don't see what she's doing wrong. She's a young woman, so she travels, has parties, friends. I know she does a lot of charitable work for children with MS and AIDS as well as woman with breast cancer. She gives a lot of her wardrobe to charity. Paris is generous and has a big heart, from what I've read of those closest to her.
Many seem to think that she's just a person who isn't personally involved in anything, and a giant PR machine is behind her every move. She states otherwise. I've heard her speak. She's not stupid, by any means. I believe her. To some, she can't do anything right.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 12-12-2008, 11:47 PM Jealousy can too. Brings out the worst in people. Makes them hate a person who's never done a bad thing to them or anyone else. There are people who need to hate to feel good about themselves. Personally, I can't imagine hating a person without a good reason.
No one hates her, we just think she's ridiculous. All of those accomplishments are because she already has money.
catlover79 12-12-2008, 11:49 PM No one hates her, we just think she's ridiculous. All of those accomplishments are because she already has money.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Janice 12-13-2008, 12:48 AM No one hates her, we just think she's ridiculous. All of those accomplishments are because she already has money.
The Hilton name no doubt opened doors for her, but I know she works hard on her business ventures. People want to take away even her accomplishments. They claim she stumbled into them, inherited them or everyone else does it for her. Her accomplishments must be discounted because if she's given the credit she deserves, that makes her smart and successful. Her success creates a problem for the haters who want to portray her as a no-talent hack. So, they think of reasons to diminish her accomplishments.
You may not hate her, but plenty of people do. I can't believe the reader's comments when I read an article about her. I personally think that anyone who hates another person who has never done anything wrong is a bitter jealous person. I hate OJ Simpson, for good reason. I may not like certain celebs or politicians, but I don't hate them. I can't relate to that thinking.
It's as if Paris Hilton isn't even a human being to some people. During that jail incident, I was just stunned when people were cheering when she was crying. Just loving it. I just think it's weird and mean. She brings out something in some people. I wasn't kidding when I say that I've love to see this phenomenon studied. There's a reason for it. I just don't have the training to know what it's about. Just the mere mention of her name causes normally decent people to go into ridicule and bash mode. Letterman wouldn't treat another person the way he did, with the audience going along. It's as if it's okay because, like I already said, it's as if she's not even a human being, so why care about her feelings. It's only Paris, so it doesn't matter. Meanwhile, she sits politely and smiles.

The hating is wrong, clearly. I agree there. I think the reason a lot of people are annoyed by her, though (and I think that's a better term for what most people feel about her) is that she comes off as so smug and cocky. That's great if you see polite and smiling...because I don't. I don't know her, but then again none of us do. I'm just going off of the impression I get from her. It's like she brings on a lot of the criticism (and I'll add that the hate is something nobody deserves...I'm talking criticism here) because she's, well, for lack of a better term...an attention whore. If she asks for it, she's going to get it and it's not always going to be nice.

I agree with you Janice. I just don't understand all the hate. I don't hate Paris. I really don't pay much attention to her but I am amazed at the amount of hate she gets at SO. Just mention her and the thread because a bash fest. So she has money...so she was born into it. Who cares? Alot of celebrities are and their isn't hate like this going around. I have a hard time laughing when I see anybody crying. I guess that's just me though. I think the media does contribute alot to this sensation. They know how the public looks at her and they give them what they want. It really is sickening but I guess that's the way America is nowadays.

I don't know what you're watching. Take a look at the Letterman youtube I posted. I saw her on Larry King and other shows. A total lady, not a hint of smugness about her. All this fill-in-the-blank-Whore. Good Lord, whoever started that is a moron. How is she trying to get attention? What is she doing? Lately, not when she was a young and stupid girl...smoking pot *gasp*.

I've seen her on plenty of things and that's just the vibe she gives off to me (and obviously a lot of other people as well). Maybe she's cleaned up her act a bit. Good for her. But plenty of people much younger than her have shown much more class and maturity in their lives.
Janice 12-13-2008, 01:34 AM I've seen her on plenty of things and that's the vibe she gives off to me. The way she talks, like she's better than everyone else, it's almost sickening. Maybe she's cleaned up her act a bit. Good for her. But plenty of people much younger than her have shown much more class and maturity in their lives.
She grew up rich, and most very rich people have a very proper way about them. That "strut" when she walks onstage is the result of her extremely good posture, shoulders back. The very rich are given lessons on this sort of thing at a very young age. It may seem snobbish, but it's just their upbringing. Letterman ridiculed her to her face, and she smiled politely through the whole thing. I don't have the breeding, so I'd tell him to f *** off. Letterman's a coward. Let him try that with Cher or Roseanne. He knows who he can get away with that with. Rich people are different than us. I'm referring to old money, not the nouveau rich.
I'd say that she's done quite well for herself, and she's only 27. Paris may have got her Reality show because of the Hilton name, but the show didn't run for five years because of the Hilton name. Audiences don't care. If the show is good, they watch. If it sucks, they tune out. Same for books, perfume and whatever else she has going on.

JamesG 12-13-2008, 01:58 PM If you remember what was going on during the "jail episode" I guess people can understand why there was cheering going on...
She got pulled over for reckless driving, signed a release stating that she was aware she had her license suspended. Next month she's pulled over again and claims she had no idea she had her license suspended. WHAT?
Jail sentence goes from 45 days with a minimum of 23 days served (for good behavior) to actually serving 3. Doctors claim she was on the verge of mental collapse and ordered her to be put on house arrest.
The judge who sentenced her ordered her back to court so he can view for himself the mental collapse going on. He didn't see a problem and ordered her back to jail.
I guess people were sick and tired of seeing celebrities get away with the law and glad to see Paris hauled back to jail for trying to pull a fast one. I'm not saying people acting right but that is my understanding on why people were glad to see Paris crying in the police car.
Reckless driving is not something to be taken lightly. Thank god she didn't wind up in a serious incident like Layne Garrison of Prison Break where people died due to his recklessness.
TripperFan 12-13-2008, 04:12 PM Well, no matter what anyone feels about her personally, she certainly does initiate conversation - once again, she's up to 5 pages on this thread when I've seen world news topics get a lot less postings!
Frankly, I'd like to know what Nicky's up to lately and how her businesses are going.
When Cathy Hilton "introduced" them to the world, they were inseparable, but I noticed when Paris started to get wild, Nicky ditched the limelight but it would be nice to hear something more about her for a change of pace if they want to report on the Hiltons.

I think the main reasons why some people stay clear of political threads are as follows:
- Some topics are controversial and some people don't want to share their opinions for fear of getting into arguments/debates with other forum members.
- Some people might feel that they are too ignorant to make an informed opinion and are afraid they might be ridiculed for their lack of knowledge on a particular subject.
It's easier to argue about "celebrity issues" because they have no bearing on the world at hand.
catlover79 12-14-2008, 12:37 PM ^ I agree - that's the very reason I rarely post on the politics board.

PunkyP0WER 12-15-2008, 03:19 PM I also think she is disliked because people who have money, especially when you're born into it, are expected to have a little class and a sense of privelege. she has neither. She acts like everyhting is owed to her and as far as class goes she has ZIP - to parade around constantly with no underwear is very unladylike and trashy. How many photos have I seen her with her "parts" showing? This is a person who knows her every move is photographed so why would you put yourself in a position to have humiliating photos taken of yourself. Then she wants to play the role of victim "why do people think I'm a dumb blonde bimbo?" Actions speak louder than words.

Everytime I've seen her, on a red carpet, interview, at a party or whatever, she's acting fine. If you hate the girl, and you obviously do, you're going to nitpick at her eyeballs. When she was younger, she went through a wild phase, but there's nothing wrong with that. As for the no underwear deal, I think that was Britney's MO.

i don't hate her at all, i don't think having a difference of opinion necessitates hate, i'm just not looking at her through rose colored glasses. i think there are too many celebutantes who are glorified for all the wrong reasons, famous for partying not contributing or offering any talent to the world , and half of that attention is the medias fault and that of our celeb-obsessed culture. and i think paris gets the brunt of that negativity because she is the poster girl of the famous-for-the-sake-of-being-famous celebs in which i think this country is tiring of. i just don't feel she has any talent to speak of and can't understand why she's considered a celeb or any other of these untalented celebs are (nicole richie/heidi montag/brooke hogan, kim kardashian - another one SO embarassed by their sex tape but then poses in playboy etc). theres no hate in that, or jealousy, just my difference of opinion. i also don't think letterman was rude, he just had the guts to say what was on everyones mind. and she's not the only celebrity he teased, as i recall he also had "words" with madonna. letterman is known for provoking his guests.

I think Letterman was rude. She was begging him to change the subject and he wouldn't. He ridiculed her to her face. She answered a few of his jail questions, but enough was enough. That's no way to treat a guest, and it went beyond teasing. I know nothing about the Madonna thing. I know Cher called him an a$$hole for a lot less. You can say that Paris has no talent all day long, but that doesn't make it so, and many disagree, as she's had enormous success in tv, music, books, fashion and makes big money for personal appearances. She continues to make her own way and money. People are paying for her and her products.
If the rose colored glasses remark was for me, wrong. I simply see her as a human being who's not bothering anyone. She looks like a million bucks, and as I've said, she doesn't have to get out of bed in the morning, much less work on her ventures. She's ambitious, polite, a charitable person and not a drunk or a druggie; and to have the venom I've seen thrown her way is disproportionate with whatever she's done "wrong". It's over the top. I save my hate, or whatever it's called, for those who really deserve it. There's plenty of famous people I can't stand, but nothing like this.

I agree. It's an awful thing for a talk show host to do, especially in front of their own audience, who will most likely support them. It reminds me of the Rosie and Tom Sellek thing.

Who is swooning in her presence? Makes her God, whatever. From where I sit, she's everybody's favorite punching bag, with the exception of her fans. Morally bankrupt? Why, a driving violaton, because she partied when she was young, taped sex with her boyfriend when she was 18? Britney Spears, her screwups involve two little boys without a mother, and she doesn't get hammered as much. Paris hasn't hurt anybody. Money, looks, success = jealousy.

I think many felt that she couldn't land a dog food commercial (unless she was playing the dog, my bad, lol) if it wasn't for her father's influence. I have no clue if she's talented, but Tori was ugly when she first hit the scene. She fixed herself up since, but it's a good thing Daddy was a bigwig in Hollywood.

Seriously? have you seen her new show? do you know how many people love her? Yes, a lot of people hate her too but it comes with the territory. Paris hasn't hurt anybody physically (not that I know of anyway) but she DONE anything either. Why should somebody who was born into a rich family become a celebrity? maybe I'm not blaming Paris... I'm blaming a society where people put people like her up on a pedestal to be worshiped. Making a sex video with Shannen Doherty's ex didn't help higher my opinion on her either.

Aaron Spelling is an example of somebody who deserves some swooning! the BEST television producer of all time- an example of rags to riches. He deserved a lot more props then he got.

If you've seen his A&E "Biography," it's amazing how he was brought up. He lived with a VERY poor family in the 1920s and 1930s.
Of course, I also give him credit for some other things:
1. His shows saved the struggling ABC channel (Dynasty, Charlie's Angels, Mod Squad, etc.). Prior to Spelling's shows, ABC was a fledgling channel with no decent primetime shows.
2. Gave the FOX network a shot in the arm with '90210' and 'Melrose Place.' Granted, the network already DID have two very popular shows in "Married... With Children" and "The Simpsons," but 90210 gave the network a triple-threat of great shows.
littlebelle 12-16-2008, 01:09 AM If you've seen his A&E "Biography," it's amazing how he was brought up. He lived with a VERY poor family in the 1920s and 1930s.

Exactly Chris :).
Hollow 12-16-2008, 01:15 AM Seriously? have you seen her new show? do you know how many people love her? Yes, a lot of people hate her too but it comes with the territory. Paris hasn't hurt anybody physically (not that I know of anyway) but she DONE anything either. Why should somebody who was born into a rich family become a celebrity? maybe I'm not blaming Paris... I'm blaming a society where people put people like her up on a pedestal to be worshiped. Making a sex video with Shannen Doherty's ex didn't help higher my opinion on her either.
the sex tape was released without her permission. she tried to stop the release and filed a lawsuit over it. it was of her with her boyfriend, intended to be private. i don't think she should judged for that.
Janice 12-16-2008, 02:17 AM Aaron Spelling is an example of somebody who deserves some swooning! the BEST television producer of all time- an example of rags to riches. He deserved a lot more props then he got.
I was referring to Tori in a response to a post, not her father, and when she first hit the scene. It was obvious that she got work because of her father.

I was quoting FSU's comment about the way Tori Spelling was treated in the 90210- which had to do with her father. Actually if you watch a 90210 behind the scenes or interviews with Aaron Spelling he talks about how she had to audition like everybody else and picked solely on her talent- she even had changed her name and everything for auditions.

If that was really the case, it surprises me a bit. For most of the first season, Donna was mostly just the "tagalong" girl. After that is when they started developing her more. It doesn't seem like they would have bothered to create the character unless Aaron wanted her on the show.

I don't know obviously the "real" facts but that's what hr said. Aaron Spelling doesn't come off as the type that would lie.

Yeah, I believe he said it, I just kinda find it to be a bit questionable.
