View Full Version : Bullies
jasonbigley 11-19-2008, 06:37 PM Who here had a bully when they were in school? I had a couple in elementary school. They would tease me because I didnt wear expensive clothing and other things. When I entered junior high, I decided not to put up with it no more. I decided to tell them right back off verbally. They never bothered me again and in high school, I was well liked. My older brother was bullied also. My dad told him to never start a fight, but if someone picks a fight with you, hit them right back and he did. Never bullied afterwards. The case with Eric Smith, he was bullied in school and he snapped. But murdering Derrick Robie was NO excuse. That was horrible! In case anyone doesn't know about this case, Eric Smith was a 13 year old boy from Savona, New York who murdered 4 year old Derrick Robie in August 1993. Just because Eric was picked on in school, doesn't mean you should murder someone. My experience with bullies has taught me to stand up for myself. I also learned that there will be cruel people no matter where you go in life and that they will always exist. You just have to stand your ground with them.
sunshinefizzy 11-19-2008, 07:08 PM That's horrible to go and do that to a little boy. I realized a victim of bullying can go both ways; they find the strength to rise above it or they become bullies themselves. I have had too many bullies in my life to count; all through my school years. Some will look back and feel bad and others won't remember. I think if you are in a bullying situation; have the strength to know it's not you, that the other one is extremely troubled. You have a light in you that shines even through the darkness.
Hollow 11-19-2008, 07:16 PM i was bullied badly in my first year of high school. hell i really wanted to bring a gun to school and either kill certain people or kill myself in front of them. they started kissing my ass after they found out i was sent to the ER for suicidal threats. there was never an apology, they just started acting like i was their best friend. i recently found the email address of the one who started it all and i can't say i haven't dealt with temptation to contact her and let her have it. i know it would make me feel a lot better about it all. a similar approach definitely helped resolve the anger i felt for years towards an abusive teacher in middle school.
Brieannas21 11-19-2008, 07:19 PM When I was a freshman in College, of all places, this one girl tried to bully me. It went on for a few months, until one day she put her hands on me and I popped her one good time. That was the last time I had any problems from her.
Brad Russ 11-19-2008, 09:54 PM I was bullied alot in middle school. It's the reason I was sent to an alternative school. I was spit on, called horrible names like ****** on a daily basis. It got so bad that I use to hide in the bushes in my backyard, wait for my parents to leave, and go home instead of going to school. I even spent lunchtime hiding out in the bathroom quite a bit, because I was a loner, and was embarrassed to be sitting all alone in front of everyone in the cafeteria. It wasn't until I stood up for myself and kicked a couple popular kids asses that the bullying finally ceased, but at that point the damage had already been done. Bullies are ****ing cowards, and they can all kiss my ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wreckless 11-19-2008, 10:08 PM I was bullied a lot in my school years, mostly antagonized, treated bad and was called names. I changed sports a couple times in elementary, as I went to 3 elementary schools in 3 years but middle school was probably the hardest. High school I moved in the middle of the best years of my life and I just got treated like ****, not bullied, just treated horribly.

Wow we have almost the same first line in our posts. But yeah, that sucks bro. I've been treated like **** my whole life. I have had the same experience with the lunch room and hiding, so don't feel alone on that.
browneyes106 11-19-2008, 11:41 PM I was bullied through elementary to high school by different people. I would ignore them and they would stop. I grew up in a small town and most of the people that bullied me are pretty much losers now.
Big C 11-20-2008, 12:48 AM I was never bullied horribly.
I do remember a couple of idiots from middle school who tried to trip me frequently. They had bad aim- they NEVER tripped me once.
littlebelle 11-20-2008, 01:16 AM I've never been bullied in my life thank god. The only time I can think of was in High School there was this one kid who was the total class clown type, he sort of cracked jokes about everyone but it seemed like he was always making fun of me. I could never tell if that was his way of being friends with somebody or really was just teasing me.
dawsongirl 11-20-2008, 01:17 AM I just had the typical rich, snobby girls make fun of me because I wore cheap clothes, no makeup, etc. Nothing mentally damaging. Mostly I was just so much of a nobody that no one bothered me.

  Sound more like klutzs to me lol....a good thing for you.

He might of liked you, as in had a crush on you lol. Cause if they just pickin or buggin you out of the whole crowd, and they're the opposite sex, then it could be that. I'm just sayin- it could be him being himself as well.
ponytail 11-20-2008, 06:29 AM I remember this one boy just picked on me, not bully me. He made fun of my last name and one day I was leaving the classroom and he was standing outside the door and stuck his leg out and tripped me. I was wearing a skirt at the time and carrying books. He and his friends just laughed.
Wreckless 11-20-2008, 06:43 AM People then and now make fun of my last name all the time  I deal with it, and you have to laugh- or else you look like you're taking things too serious. So many goddamn things rhyme with it too. Chris ROCK feels my pain LOL .
ekkostar 11-20-2008, 07:04 AM I'm so glad high school is over so I don't have to deal with that social hierarchy bull. I noticed that once I got out of high school and in to college, I began to think rationally, cliques and gangs are so not cool and a complete waste of time. I got bothered in school but it's not worth mentioning since most of the people were lame losers who will only have their high school legacy to back them up in the future.
MonarC 11-20-2008, 08:39 AM I think almost everyone has had to deal with bullies at least some point in their lives. I have had to deal with quite a few since my family moved around a lot. I was always taught "turn the other cheek like Jesus". Which I agree is a good thing to do, but bullies don't care they will just keep on harassing you. Like a lot of you mentioned before if you stand up to them they will usually leave you alone.
I remember the worst case was when I was in high school. There was this big girl who was always messing with me. She was really scary and everyone tried to avoid her. She would pull my hair, push me, and stuff till finally one day I had enough. She thought it would be funny to put her pile of books on my desk. She sat right next to me in English class. I was having a really bad day that day and I was already upset at something else. Well that was it! I Picked up the pile of books and threw them at her as hard as I could. After I did it she was shocked and just staired at me. Then I realized what I had done and I was shocked as well as a few others in the class. I thought I was about to recieve the beating of my life. Then suddenly she got up and ran crying out of the room. Everyone was just like "OMG!" She never messed with me again!
Chocoholic 11-20-2008, 10:40 AM I was constantly bullied from kindergarten up through senior year of high school. I was a small, timid child and had few people in my corner to support me. I honestly don't know how I survived. It got so bad in high school that, like Sarah said, I wanted to either kill someone or myself. I strongly believe it was my faith in Jesus that kept me going. Otherwise, I'd be in jail or six feet under.
littlebelle 11-20-2008, 02:27 PM People then and now make fun of my last name all the time  I deal with it, and you have to laugh- or else you look like you're taking things too serious. So many goddamn things rhyme with it too. Chris ROCK feels my pain LOL .
What's your last name anyways?
MickeyMac 11-20-2008, 06:34 PM I was a victim of this too.
In my school I totally stood out. I was a kid who wore Metallica and Megadeth T shirts and converse all stars. To the white kids it was baffling because they pretty much got their info about black people from rap videos(I kid you not), the black kids thought I was some kind of traitor, and wanted to beat me up, so I was hassled on a daily basis. Finally I had to get the principal on them to leave me alone which made it worse. I finally stopped wearing the metal shirts if it was going to cause all this. I got hassled by other kids for other stuff. One thing I learned that if you are different and stand out, sometimes you are just asking for it because people are taught from an early age to conform and fit in with the group, so if you stand out people sometimes see you as some kind of threat.
That said I am glad all that high school BS is behind me.
I had bullies pick on me in high school because of my autism and because
they knew if they taunted me enough they could make me yell and cry. The
worst of these bullies was a black boy named Kevin Johnson who was a BD
student who sometimes got physically aggressive toward me. Part of the
damage done from his bullying is that for a while I was somewhat prejudiced
toward black people, but when I watched Bill Cosby Himself and began
watching The Cosby Show, I realized I was wrong for the way I felt and was
able to change.

That person is obvious a scumbag, I am glad to see you didnt judge all of us by that person.
BarneyFife 11-20-2008, 07:33 PM I never had any problems with bullies in any grade. I was always pretty wild in school, and never took any crap from anyone, no matter how big they were. The bullies knew that and never messed with me.
Zoneboy 11-20-2008, 08:03 PM My first incident with a bully happended in 2nd grade. After school was over, I walked to my grandmother's house which was several blocks away. This kid who was way bigger than I was had to walk the same path I did and never failed to pick on me. He never hit me but he did take my book bag and toss it into a creek a couple of times and of course I had to go in after it.
I left that school later that same year and although I was picked on some, I had no trouble with bullies until my first year of Jr. High. This time it was 2 brothers who were about my size but were always together when they did their bullying. I was never hit but I was shoved to the ground or tripped by them on an almost daily basis. I was also laughed at for a speech impediment that I later overcame and for wearing braces.
The worst incident though happened one day during 7th grade. The teacher gave us a bathroom and water break and when I returned to my desk I sat down minding my own business when suddenly the Principal came in and literally dragged me to his office.
I had no idea what was going on, I sat down and he pulled a marijuana joint out his pocket and said do you know what this is? I said no which was the truth because I had never seen one before. I then said it looks like a cigarette. He said I was lying and that it had been found in my book bag. The younger of the 2 bullies didnt take a break with the rest of us and sat beside me in class so my first thought was that he planted it there but I had no proof.
He then told me that one of the other students looked down and saw it in my book bag and told the Teacher. I knew right then that someone was lying. I told the Principal that my book bag was zipped up and that the other student couldn't have seen anything unless it was unzipped. He asked if I was sure that it was zipped and I was. He called the other student into the office and sure enough it was him. After a few minutes of questioning, He finally admitted planting it. He was punished but I don't recall how and I got apologies from the Teacher and the Principal but not from him.
That was in 1977, I moved in with my grandparents the next year and started at another school with no problems.
Now we move to 1984. For years I dreamed of getting even with those 2 but I finally learned to let go and told myself that if I ever saw them again I would try and act like nothing ever happened. In July of 1984 while reading the local paper, I saw that the younger of the 2 had been killed in a motorcycle crash in NY. I didnt want anything like that to happen to him and was saddened by it. The older brother I wouldn't see again until 20 years later in 2004.
I was at a friend's house when someone knocked on the door. When he came in, I immediately knew who it was. He didn't recognize me at first and said you look familiar. I said I should, We went to school together. He said OMG! Charles! I said you got it. He then started crying and said that he wanted to apologize for what he did in school. I told him that it had long been forgiven and I extended my hand and we've been friends since. He asked if I knew about his brother's death and I told that I had. He then said he wouldn't blame me if I decked him right there. I said no, You've lost your brother and that was enough.
MonarC 11-20-2008, 09:31 PM Kids are so cruel. :bighug: 's for everyone.

WOW, that is amazing story; brought a smile to my face. Thanks, for sharing...:)
Doodyville10019 11-20-2008, 10:27 PM I was bullied big time as a kid throughout grammar school and high school - I was always 'different' from the other kids (liked different things, idolized different people, etc.) That's why I would never go to any of my reunions!
But, as an adult, I more than made up for it with a really loving husband and good friends who really know me and really understand the type of person I am.
Wreckless 11-20-2008, 10:51 PM Ramona, Check your messages/PMs...
Ohio8 11-22-2008, 04:36 PM Yep....
1)When I was in the sixth grade, some boy who lived down the street from me gave me (stuff) on the bus ride to middle school, so I slugged him. He never gave me a hassle after that.
2)When I was a high school sophomore, this one jamook was giving me grief. One day in lunch, he really pissed me off and we got into a fight. He never hassled me after that.

Yeah same here for me too. I still stand out and will never quite fit in anywhere, but I'm cool with it, and even though my friends think I am crazy, they accept me and put up with me, so that means so much to me.
MonarC 11-22-2008, 11:00 PM I was teased endlessly because of my visual impairment. :( I didn't have friends and I was never picked for anything. Whether it was gym or in classes for projects. No one wanted to be with me. I was called names and there were kids that hurt me so much that I cried.
:bighug:

I'm so sorry you had to go through that Jenny. Kids are just mean. :(
D-Dey 11-23-2008, 12:17 AM I was bullied in every grade, but what makes it worse, is that teachers lie to kids about how to handle bullies, and they punish kids for trying to defend themselves against them.
And yet, whenever there's some news report about a kid going on a shooting spree at school, the first thing people do is blame it on what they see on TV, or some other form of entertainment, and never consider that school itself might be to blame.

I was too, Jennie, but not because of a visual impairment; it was because of something else that was (and still is-even at 51 years old) wrong with me.
catlover79 11-23-2008, 01:42 AM I was picked on all the time - I was a skinny, scrawny bookworm with glasses, braces and clothes that were constantly too small because I was always growing taller!!

Speaking of, Rudolph and Hermie were ruthlessly taunted in that special, and look how they ended up. :D
littlebelle 11-23-2008, 03:59 AM Wow, listening to your guy's stories makes me thankful I was never picked on or excluded in school. I'm sorry for anyone that had to go through that, kids and teenagers can be so awful to one another. You always have to remember that school is such a small part of your life, and most of people that were bullies in school end up having sucky adult lives!

InspectorExstead 11-23-2008, 02:51 PM i was bullied one time, in fourth grade. some boy kept bullying me and he even tried to put glue in my hair one time. he had quite a mouth on him too for a fourth grader. i don't know if he liked me, or he was bored and wanted to be extra annoying. either way, i finally told the teacher & made sure she moved me to a different seat. other than that, i've never had any problems with bullies.
MickeyMac 11-23-2008, 03:11 PM :bighug: :bighug:
Thats for everyone here who had to deal with bullies.
