Is that bad? *Pleasant Tomorrow* 11-17-2008, 05:00 PM The highest score is a 36, but NOBODY really ever gets to the 30's unless you're some ivy league genius. 19 isn't horrible, though. I think the ideal score is usually in the low 20's. I know that I got somewhere between like 22 and 24 but hell if I remember exactly. To tell you the truth, colleges are more concerned about SAT's if that. Hollow 11-17-2008, 05:22 PM ugh, my experience with that **** was horrible. i was about halfway through the first section (of about 70 questions) when the lady said there were three minutes left. i don't know how the hell that happened, i'd gone through the questions swiftly without wasting any time. so i just had to fill in random answers for the rest. i didn't get the chance to finish the next few sections without guessing a lot either. for the last section or two, i literally could not understand what i was reading because my ADD literally disabled me from grasping any of it (because the subject didn't interest me), tied in with the anxiety and panic over how badly it had gone so far. never, ever again. ohno: i'm kind of confused about that thing though. my score ended up being in the bottom 10%, but i believe it was a 16 and based on what ashlee said, that doesn't seem all that bad of a score. moreover, my best friend who is an incredible student and has been recognized even outside of school for his academic achievements was also in the bottom 10%, though i don't know what his score was. ugh, such headaches that damn test causes. the hell with my low score. i know i could take it again but there's no way i'd be able to work any faster than i did. but that's one of many reasons why i thank the good lord that i can finish my degree here without meeting ******** standards or transferring to university. god, **** universities. seriously. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 11-17-2008, 05:28 PM ugh, my experience with that **** was horrible. i was about halfway through the first section (of about 70 questions) when the lady said there were three minutes left. i don't know how the hell that happened, i'd gone through the questions swiftly without wasting any time. so i just had to fill in random answers for the rest. i didn't get the chance to finish the next few sections without guessing a lot either. for the last section or two, i literally could not understand what i was reading because my ADD literally disabled me from grasping any of it (because the subject didn't interest me), tied in with the anxiety and panic over how badly it had gone so far. never, ever again. ohno: i'm kind of confused about that thing though. my score ended up being in the bottom 10%, but i believe it was a 16 and based on what ashlee said, that doesn't seem all that bad of a score. moreover, my best friend who is an incredible student and has been recognized even outside of school for his academic achievements was also in the bottom 10%, though i don't know what his score was. ugh, such headaches that damn test causes. the hell with my low score. i know i could take it again but there's no way i'd be able to work any faster than i did. but that's one of many reasons why i thank the good lord that i can finish my degree here without meeting ******** standards or transferring to university. god, **** universities. seriously. those standardized tests are all bull****. with the time limits and all that crap, how do they expect us to do our best? it's all pointless in judging someone's intelligence. at our school they liked to rank our asses, too, based on our gpa's. I was like 80 something out of 390 students, while some dumbasses were way above me because they took easier classes. another stupid measurement of one's intelligence. dawsongirl 11-17-2008, 05:44 PM I don't know. What did you score on the individual tests? I got 26 both times I took it, but on one, my science score was in the teens, next time it was in the high 20s. So maybe just one section sunk you down. As long as I can get a degree and get out. Courtnee 11-17-2008, 07:41 PM I don't know. What did you score on the individual tests? English -25 Math- 18 Reading - 22 Science - 14 I'm actually really upset because I thought I would do better. I'm def gonna take it again in Dec. Hollow 11-17-2008, 08:13 PM well this was at my highschool, so it was even more pathetic. at my college I think they only issue like a valedictorian and salutetorian (sp?) and crap. either way, I don't care. As long as I can get a degree and get out. oh geez, a high school did that? that is pathetic. you're right about it being unfair. i've always been pretty bad at schoolwork in general mostly due to ADD and i was on the honor roll in my last semester of high school because two of my classes were choirs, another one was office aide which was based solely on obedience, and the rest just had overly lenient teachers. would have been bad if i'd appeared to rank higher than someone who had taken calculus and physics and **** and got a slightly lower GPA than me. i found my ACT results, by the way. english - 16 math - 18 reading - 14 science - 15 i'm confused, did i just guess really well or something? it doesn't seem that bad. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 11-17-2008, 09:55 PM oh geez, a high school did that? that is pathetic. you're right about it being unfair. i've always been pretty bad at schoolwork in general mostly due to ADD and i was on the honor roll in my last semester of high school because two of my classes were choirs, another one was office aide which was based solely on obedience, and the rest just had overly lenient teachers. would have been bad if i'd appeared to rank higher than someone who had taken calculus and physics and **** and got a slightly lower GPA than me. i found my ACT results, by the way. english - 16 math - 18 reading - 14 science - 15 i'm confused, did i just guess really well or something? it doesn't seem that bad. Yeah, the ranking like that honestly makes you feel like crap. I felt like a moron when I knew I was just as smart as half of the kids that got a better ranking than I did. The way they figured it wasn't fair. I don't even remember my ACT or SAT scores. I know they were good enough but not great. I tried to put that crap out of my head as soon as I got into college. It's all bull****. Most colleges don't even look at ACT's anyway. browneyes106 11-17-2008, 10:51 PM I got a 19 the first time I took the ACT. I took it two more times. The second time I got a 22 and the third time I got 25. Don't beat yourself up about the first time. Just focus and have confidence for the second and do each practice on the subjects you have trouble with. JT 11-18-2008, 01:13 AM I might get beat up for saying this but...I made a 29 on my ACT test. Made a 26 the first time, then took it the second time and made the 29. That's higher than some of the damn valedictorians made, but I wasn't an honor graduate (.2 measly little points!). dawsongirl 11-18-2008, 01:27 AM The tests seem to vary so much that you might get one the 2nd time that's just easier. The first time I took it I apparently got hard science questions; the second time, easy ones. Kind of a joke. dawsongirl 11-18-2008, 01:28 AM I might get beat up for saying this but...I made a 29 on my ACT test. Made a 26 the first time, then took it the second time and made the 29. That's higher than some of the damn valedictorians made, but I wasn't an honor graduate (.2 measly little points!). :( I thought I was high. j/k JT 11-18-2008, 01:43 AM :( I thought I was high. j/k LOL! 26 is indeed a high score. I was actually not gonna retake it at all, but the way our state-funded scholarship program works, there's a certain threshold that you can cross and after that, your GPA is no longer a factor in the amount of money you get. Your ACT score is high enough to overrule it, and well...I like money, and so I took the test again and did the damn thing lol I can't remember if anything was easier or harder the second time around. Science is NOT my thing, though, so that was the only score that actually went down. The other scores increased a lot, though. I made a 35 in English. AllIWantIsYourClutch 11-18-2008, 02:52 AM I got a 29 the first and only time I took it...My friends who took our school's prep class got lower scores than me and my friends who didn't all got in the 30s. I thought that was interesting. Courtnee 11-18-2008, 10:03 PM The science part totally kicked my ass. |
