View Full Version : When you're stressed....
Wreckless 11-09-2008, 01:21 AM what do you do to relax/calm down/make things better for yourself etc.? For me, I take a nice, hot, long shower, watching my The Wonder Years complete set DVD also relaxes me a good amount...sometimes taking walks & playing sports help to alleviate a lot of stress or pain. Music is a big component in relieving stress for me- I love it & it relaxes the stress out of me. What about you? Talking to friends also might help.
Big C 11-09-2008, 01:29 AM I do one of the following:
drink some water
eat something
take a hot shower
watch my recorded 'Step By Step' episodes
BTW, Wrecky, I have reached 1,000 posts.
I hope you, LB, or someone else is payng attention...

bleh, hope you feel better soon. :(
But I feel you. Trying to relax just doesn't cut it for me. I'm too anxious of a person. Crying ends up being all you can do.

Yeah dude, I'm a nice guy lol. Check the Chit Chat forum again..
Yooch 11-09-2008, 02:09 AM No particular strategy, just ride it out. Prayer works for me, and maybe a psalm--but when I'm coming out of the stress and calming down, not when I'm in the worst part of it. When I'm stressed, I'll still pray, but not very reflectively, just short prayers--anything longer doesn't seem to work at this stage, because it's harder for me to concentrate. Then once I've calmed down, then music, TV or any other distraction helps heal the effects of the stress.

sometimes a good cry is the only way to fix something. i've done that soo many times.
i'll also take a shower, go on a walk or talk to a friend.

This is so me, especially the crying part! Warm showers work wonders, though!

Wreckless 11-09-2008, 04:40 AM Talking to friends never helped me 99.9% of the time- yes crying does solve something!
ekkostar 11-09-2008, 10:42 AM Writing steamy stories or long rambling musings, working on avatars and wallpapers or watching stupid cartoons like Family Guy usually helps. When I'm particularly angry about something I like to play the first two levels of Shadow the Hedgehog. There's something therapeutic about playing an angry hedgehog youth with a gat while listening to some rap in the background.
sunshinefizzy 11-09-2008, 12:35 PM Cry, listen to music, walking, making a joke about how much life sucks. I just try to tell myself that everything is all right and I'm all right than I feel better. It takes some time but it really works because calm just clicks in when it's supposed to.
TVFactFan 11-09-2008, 12:56 PM go to a oriental massage spa so I can have a chinese women walk on my back and massage my problems away
lol

Number 9 Dream 11-09-2008, 06:38 PM Vent to a friend, cry, take a walk or drive (depending on the weather), go shopping, eat, take a bath, or sleep it off.
InspectorExstead 11-09-2008, 09:20 PM also, i forgot to add...
going for a drive to anywhere, going to the beach, shopping, napping. lol.
Brad Russ 11-09-2008, 09:58 PM Another thing that helps me relax when I'm stressed, is to go across the street, and watch tv with my ex-girlfriend. For some reason she has a mellowing affect on me. She works better than xanax.
janet42 11-09-2008, 11:34 PM I cry and then I talk to my mom and my best friend about it. I think that it's ok to cry. I always feel better afterwards.

Coffeecup 03-22-2026, 05:22 PM One thing I do when I am stressed, such as someone has says something, I don't like, is I rub the back of neck. When that happens my hair gets tangled. I should get shorter hair.

Oh yes. Definitely. When I'm stressed or really tired , I feel it in the back of my neck. Rubbing the back of my neck really does reduce stress and tension. ;)
