BarneyFife 11-06-2008, 10:41 PM LETS TALK AND SEE WHAT IS NEW. :p Welcome to SO David! I love both. In fact i could probably spend the rest of my life watching old shows and movies and be happy. JAlanRuss72 11-06-2008, 10:51 PM Love TV shows and movies from the '70s and '80s (even before). They're no where NEAR as good as they use to be.;) ponytail 11-07-2008, 06:45 AM I love old tv shows and movies. I really don't watch the new shows. I do like Dancing With The Stars and Dog The Bounty Hunter but I still watch Leave It To Beaver and Bonanza and The Andy Griffith Show. OH Nuts! 11-07-2008, 07:45 AM I DO!!!!!! Esp. from 50s & 60s bmasters9 11-07-2008, 07:53 AM I am in this category too. Matter-of-factly, my television lineup is mostly late-'60's to around 1987, but I do have a couple of seasons' worth of "Lucy" from 1951-53, and I thought that they had some laughs. MrCleveland 11-07-2008, 02:00 PM Definitely, especially TV Shows prior to 1982. I like the shows and movies from the 80's and 90's too. Doodyville10019 11-07-2008, 02:08 PM I'd be ecstatic if you gave me a bunch of old TV action or detective shows from the 1950's (and, of course, a good supply of 1956-60 Howdy Doody shows would be nice too!) and a half way decent DVD player and TV set. I'd be in seventh heaven! waichingliu81 11-07-2008, 02:21 PM i do! tv and movies back then were fun and full of variety. nowadays, there is no such thing as variety because we are stuck with reality tv and the like. thank goodness for sites where we can watch old shows, as well as you tube and classic tv dvd sets Mikado 11-07-2008, 03:32 PM I love old movies , going back to the silent era....I love the TV comedies of the 60s and 70s (plus I love Lucy), what i hate is new movies and comedies (not counting the great Corner Gas) ekkostar 11-07-2008, 04:42 PM ...I thought that was the purpose of Sitcoms Online (The newer TV stuff is sort of secondary on here anyway). MickeyMac 11-07-2008, 06:31 PM Right here baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With very few exceptions I dont like TV shows made past 1968, and I cant think of one show that has been done in the last 20 years that I saw and liked. Love old movies and miss watching Turner Classic Movies. The new movies that come out now are beyond terrible. People forgot how to act and to write scrips apperently. Total old school here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yooch 11-07-2008, 10:45 PM Definitely. The old movies I like are classics like Casablanca, plus John Ford produced Westerns with John Wayne--stuff like that. I also like the WWII sagas like The Longest Day, A Bridge Too Far, etc. I like current movies and shows too, if I think they're good quality. treky 11-08-2008, 02:02 AM I do! I also like some of the new shows, but not as much: I like the "C.S.I." trilogy, "THE AMAZING RACE", "MY NAME IS EARL", "THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE", "TWO AND A HALF MEN", "WORST WEEK" and that's about it for the newer shows, but I'll sometimes watch old movies on TCM (the only good movie channel anymore-let's just hope they don't "jump the shark" like AMC has). I LOVE watching some of those old silent movies on Sunday nights! Schmoopie 11-08-2008, 06:23 AM I am a huge Audrey Hepburn fan, so I love old movies. One of my favorite movies of all-time is "Roman Holiday". I would be thrilled to death if our cable company ever decided to offer TCM (Turner Classic Movies) for basic cable subscribers! I would gladly exchange several of our current stations! My other favorite "old movie" is "Some Like it Hot". In fact, for :tree: :santa2: :cc: this year, I am going to San Diego and will be staying at the Hotel Del Coronado which is where "SLIH" was filmed! I cannot wait! :) Andrea tv star collector 11-08-2008, 09:23 AM Me! Me! I still enjoy watching classic movies and old TV shows, even after multiple viewings. If I tried to list 'em all, I'd be sitting here all day! Yooch 11-08-2008, 01:37 PM If they ever took TCM off the air, I'd be sad. And yeah, Audrey Hepburn, I used to have a crush on her. Theda Bara 11-08-2008, 06:30 PM I absolutely love, old television shows...99.9% of my TV-DVD collection is programs from the 60s, 70s & early 80s. Schmoopie 11-09-2008, 06:58 AM I am more into the old movies than TV shows, but I love to watch old TV shows as well. Andrea bmasters9 11-09-2008, 03:20 PM I absolutely love, old television shows...99.9% of my TV-DVD collection is programs from the 60s, 70s & early 80s. Mine is pretty much the same makeup, except that I go further into the '80's, to 1987 at least. MickeyMac 11-09-2008, 04:16 PM I go nowhere near 1980's show except for maybe Miami Vice, and Magnum PI, only because I liked those shows as a kid. 80sTrivia 11-09-2008, 08:29 PM I've always enjoyed classic television show as well as old movies. They don't make movies the way they used to, that's for certain... Theda Bara 11-09-2008, 08:52 PM Mine is pretty much the same makeup, except that I go further into the '80's, to 1987 at least. I am a 1970s show junkie:lol: I will say, about 85 % of my television collection is from shows from that decade. comedyfreak 11-09-2008, 11:09 PM I love old movies especially anything with Bette Davis, Lucille Ball, and Joan Crawford. I also love the old horror films from the 30's & 40's. I also like Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. bmasters9 11-10-2008, 06:19 AM I am a 1970s show junkie:lol: I will say, about 85 % of my television collection is from shows from that decade. I think that all of us have favorite decades that each of us really enjoy, and that's part of the fun of it. Theda Bara 11-10-2008, 08:36 PM I think that all of us have favorite decades that each of us really enjoy, and that's part of the fun of it. Yes, that is true; personally, I think the best television shows came out during the 1970s!!!:) JAlanRuss72 11-10-2008, 08:45 PM Yes, that is true; personally, I think the best television shows came out during the 1970s!!!:) Agreed. To me the 1970s WERE the Golden Age of comedy- Sanford & Son, Good Times, Barney Miller, All In The Family, Bob Newhart - it doesn't get any better than that decade. The shows were grittier, more realistic, NOT politically correct, and HILARIOUS. ;) bmasters9 11-10-2008, 09:09 PM Agreed. The shows were grittier, more realistic, NOT politically correct, and HILARIOUS. ;) I have season sets of three comedies from that decade-- three of "MTM," two of "What's Happening!!," and one of "Taxi." I have truly enjoyed all of them. Theda Bara 11-10-2008, 09:15 PM Agreed. However, sitcoms really came of age in my opinion in the 70's. They were extremely well-written, funny but could deal with real issues. Individually, some of the best sitcoms ever, came out of the 70's, e.g., M*A*S*H, All in the Family, Barney Miller--shows like these are masterpieces of excellence--and I believe will become timeless, like I Love Lucy from the 50's. Cactus Jack 11-10-2008, 11:11 PM I love sitcoms and movies from just about any decade :D, |
