It is filled with great details. Lydia gave us so much, we gave her an extra segment with lots of behind the scenes stories! You'll want to read this!
Jude The Obscure 10-29-2008, 02:07 PM Excellent job, Pav!! Wow--I didn't know that much about Lydia.....or knew that Ted Knight was that ego-centric. Hopefully her upcoming projects will help push Too Close back into syndication and DVD releases. And she is still very very HOT!!!
Pavan 10-29-2008, 02:18 PM Thanks, Jude. She was a pleasure to interview. Very willing to share everything. And yes, she is still very stunning. 46 now...time flies. She was 18 when the show started.
Jude The Obscure 10-29-2008, 04:40 PM Dang, I'm closer to her age than I thought--woo hoo!! :D
Heck if she ever puts out a book.....I'll be in line to read it.
catlover79 10-29-2008, 06:04 PM Thanks for sharing, Pav!!! :D Very cool...the next time you do an interview for the site, maybe you can track down Gregory Sierra (hint, hint)!! ;)
Mr. Television 10-29-2008, 06:25 PM That was an excellent interview Pav. I used to have a big crush on Lydia when the show was on....I probably wasn't the only teenager who did. lol

I never knew about anything from TCFC but I did hear that he could be a handful during his years on TMTMS. He really didn't need to be. He was a comic genius and he was good in just about everything he was ever in.

He was hilarious playing off of Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack.

That's one of my favorite movies. He was great in it.

He always looked ready to explode every time Rodney made a wisecrack about him!!
mstewart 10-29-2008, 11:47 PM Too bad that Ted's ego was over the top. I heard that him and Nancy Dussault did not get along well on the show when she complained about how her role on the show was underdeveloped. Nancy Dussault is an underrated actress. She does comedy very well but never was in shows where she can fully display her skills in it. The New Dick Van Dyke Show she was great in but she was kicked to the curb after two seasons. She sure is an excellent singer and I was glad they let do some singing on the show.
70s show watcher 10-30-2008, 01:21 AM great interveiw ive always liked lydia she seemes like a very interesting person and yes i agree with everyone here she still looks great
Robert 13 10-30-2008, 11:21 AM Great interview! Couldn't stop reading it. Can't wait to read Lydia's book when it comes out. Her audition story was funny about the raspberry. :D
robyrob 10-30-2008, 12:17 PM great interview, and it was AWESOME getting to watch the show again last night (I do have both released seasons, but its still great to see it on TV)!!
I always liked the show better when the girls were around, it worked better as an esemble than trying to be a one-man show. Ted Knight was hilarious in everything I've ever seen him in, but he probably had some self-esteem issues that made him act the way he did, Hollywood just makes people weird sometimes.
I do remember seeing Lydia in a lot of those guest starring roles she mentioned, its neat hearing all the inside stories about them.
Pavan 10-30-2008, 01:27 PM Glad you all liked it. Thanks to Lydia's openness, the interview was a success! She is very nice!
HuntingtonM15 11-02-2008, 05:37 PM Great interview! Lydia is such a sweet woman. When I wrote her for an autograph a while back, she even sent a handwritten note apologizing for the long wait.
Lydia on raising children...
I interviewed Valerie Bertinelli on my radio show, and we were talking about our kids. I confided that I had been spying on my 14-year-old son's chat room and discovered he was talking about losing his virginity with a girl at school. Needless to say, I am completely freaked out. Valerie said she was nervous about her son Wolfie too. Neither of us can believe we are coping with things like this, since we both barely feel like grownups ourselves. She said that writing her book helped her "purge the shame" of her life. All the things she had been hiding and covering up were finally out in the light of day - and somehow this enabled her to get that lightness of being she was looking for. That's what I'm finally doing - not hiding anymore.
If it wasn't clear, what I quoted above is from the Sitcoms Online interview. The link is in the opening post.
Sitcoms Online should continue its series where it interviews people about meeting Valerie Bertinelli.
