I saw this earlier today, and its fantastic news. The 8pm move hasn't hurt the show one bit, and its rebounded a lot from its post-strike spring episodes last season. I'm really surprised to see it beat HIMYM. While its great for BBT, CBS should be a little worried about Mother. An 8pm show should not be beating an 8:30 show . . .

If it was on at 8pm, I could see it very close or over 10 million viewers. I really wouldn't be surprised if at this rate, it reaches that by the end of this year. Once 2.5 Men is done, this show should easily slide into the 9pm slot.

That is only because of the HUT levels advantage at 8:30. Which in layman's terms means more people were watching TV at 8:30. This is the first time the 8:00 show beat the 8:30 for a new episode since these two shared the 8:00 and 8:30 time slot. I think both HIMYM and BBT are both doing well, but this is quite a feat for BBT to actually have more people watching the show at 8:00 than HIMYM had at the higher rated 8:30.

I have to say, this episode has been the best of the whole series so far in my opinion! I've never watched an episode of a single tv show 3 times ina row without stopping to catch a breath.

If I were CBS, swap 'Mother' and 'Week'. Both would probably do better in the ratings!

IMO, the past 3 episodes have 'Mother' have been fantastic and 'Men' is back to its early years glory (cause imo, the last season was weak).

Yeah, this episode was really great. Sara Gilbert is really adding so much to this show, IMO. And Kaley Cuoco was the greatest thing about this episode - hopefully they'll learn from this and give her more storylines. She's awesome in her role.

First we need to see it renewed for next season, and then we can concentrate on Emmys Awards, which it richly deserves.

I hope your right about the renewals. It has done very, very well, but it has only been three weeks, and CBS always seems to make HIMYM sweat out a renewal to the last day before the upfronts every year. I hope they do not do that to BBT. Let's also hope to many good ratings weeks to come.

As to the Emmys, they always seem to nominate the same people and shows over and over again. They need some new blood like The Big Bang Theory. I do think that Jim Parsons made a mistake going for best lead actor, when he should have gone for supporting actor. I know technically he is a lead, but in an ensemble cast, and they say you should go for the best supporting actor. Let's hope for better next year.

I think BBT is on top of its game this season. Its at a high in both viewership, demos, and quality, and viewers are obviously noticing. CBS should be thrilled with how well this show is holding up.

Some other shows go up over 2 million. Big Bang is not even on cbs.com anymore, so maybe this has something to do with people watching on TV.

They probably saw last spring that as the live ratings decreased, internet viewing increased, which like you said, could be a reason for the great ratings so far this season.

Not having huge DVR numbers is probably a better thing for this show - it's showing that even against a show like DWTS, it still manages to bring in great live numbers.

I agree that the show is doing excellent so far. The only thing that concerns me is with Chuck and Terminator : The Sara Connor Chronicles doing badly in the ratings NBC and FOX are probably going to change those shows eventually, and put up more competition. If they do it could bring BBT's ratings down.

Am I the only one who's noticed that CBS' "The Big Bang Theory" is nowhere to be found on the Web, at least in full-episode mode.

It's not available via web streaming, nor are episodes from this season available on iTunes. I discovered this the hard way the other day when I missed its regular Monday 8 p.m. airing. I went to CBS.com thinking I could easily catch up online. There were plenty of clips but no full episodes. Last season, full-length "Big Bang" adventures were readily available via CBS.com; I spent plenty of time watching them late at night when I should've been working on stories.

"Big Bang" studio Warner Bros. TV confirms the online rights are being held back to sweeten future syndication deals with local stations. Warner Bros. did the same thing with "Two and a Half Men" -- local stations that paid big bucks for the off-net rights to the show also got the rights to stream segs on their station websites.

I understand the business logic of this approach, but in this era where viewers are accustomed to having on-demand access to top shows, it's pennywise and pound foolish to not allow at least limited streaming or paid download access to a few recent segs -- especially when so many other programs are so widely disbursed on the web.

When fans get the urge to hang with Sheldon and Leonard and the gang, you don't want to make them hard to find.

I guess in the long run this is a wise marketing move. In the short term, I guess us hardcore fans will be downloading torrents lmao.

I also worry if the ratings beat 'mother' throughout the season, 'mother' could get the axe. And they are my two favorite shows on television.

Although, Pavan, maybe you can correct me if I'm wrong...'Mother' is gauranteed a fifth season already due to the contract with lifetime. They need 110 episodes before its put on syndication. According to variety this past spring, 'Mother' has been gauranteed a 26 episode fourth season and a fifth season, whatever amount of episodes that might be. If they do indeed produce 26, the total number of episodes at the seasons end will be 90.

I agree with Variety. While that might help now for TV ratings, the spring numbers will be way down I think. It is a mistake to remove it from cbs.com, because people expect every show to be on a network's website now. So if you miss it, you're screwed now. ryan: 100 episodes is usualy standard for local syndication, but it can be low as 88. So HIMYM will be fine. But it being cleared in syndication, doesn't mean CBS has to bring it back next year...of course they will though because they are so close to syndication (though why would CBS care...Fox owns the show and will gain from it), but Lifetime bought the fifth season in reruns IF there IS a fifth season. Thats what that means.

As for DVR, Big Bang and HIMYM added about 500,000 in total viewers to their Live+SD ratings...and viewers is the numbers I'm only covering for my DVR ratings data.
That doesn't mean it didn't gain anything. In HH/18-49 HH numbers, Big Bang went from a 5.7 HH in Live+SD finals to a 6.0 HH in DVR+7. In 18-49 it went up from a 3.6 to 3.9 rating.
Mother went up from a 5.9 HH to a 6.2 HH and 4.0 to 4.4 rating in 18-49. Solid gains, but in viewers, from what I see, they went up about 500,000 each from their live+SD ratings, which is not a big player. There were about 6 CBS shows that went up over a million or so. I'm surprised that HIMYM and Big Bang are not bigger players in DVR since they skew pretty young...that is all I'm saying.

I agree that it should be on cbs.com. However, I do think it shows the strength of the show that Waner Bros. is already thinking about future local syndication. By the way, Two and a Half Men is the only other sitcom that Warner Bros. does not allow online streaming for. They do allow Old Christine full episodes on cbs.com. It really tells you how much they think of this show if they are following the same model they followed with Two and a Half Men. I take it to mean Warner Bros. thinks this shows is going to be around for several years to come.

Smaller DVR numbers are a good thing, IMO. It shows that more people take time to watch it live instead of DVRing it for later. And I don't think Mother has anything to worry about - it's still getting great ratings, and a higher demo than BBT. It'll definitely be back next season, but after that, there's no telling.
