If Tony Romo Sees You Stranded on the Side of the Road, There's a Good Chance He Helps
http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/nfl.fanhouse.com/media/2008/09/tony-romo-425-white.jpg
Is there nothing Tony Romo (http://nfl.fanhouse.com/tag/TonyRomo/) can't do? Beat the Browns? Check (http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/09/08/cowboys-begin-super-bowl-run-with-impressive-win-over-cleveland/). Woo Jessica Simpson from John Mayer after he had already dumped her? Check (http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/08/18/jerry-jones-interview-romessica-good-for-the-franchise/). Make Wade Phillips (http://nfl.fanhouse.com/tag/WadePhillips/) less goofy-seeming by comparison. HUGE CHECK.
And just when you thought Romo was the model of perfection, he goes and saves a couple from a burning automobile, somehow making him more perfect. Okay, slight exaggeration, but Romo, returning home after the Cowboys thoroughly waxed the Browns earlier in the day in Cleveland, pulled over to assist Bill and Sharon White, who were busily changing a car tire after suffering a blowout (http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/story/899904.html)."I don't know, a hundred cars, probably more, had to go by. Nobody was stopping," said Bill. "That's just kind of the way it is in today's world."
And then ... "Bill was fooling with that tire, and I was standing beside the car watching him," Sharon said. "The next thing I know, a nice-looking young man, very well-dressed, but with something strange on his chin, he walked up, smiled, and said, 'Hey, you need some help?' "
Sharon hadn't even noticed a car pull up. So now it's Bill and the well-dressed young man both bent over a flat tire at midnight on a Sunday, trying to figure out why a faulty air compressor plugged into the cigarette lighter was leaking more than pumping.
Bill admitted to not getting a good look at the guy (probably didn't want to seem like he was staring at that thing on his face (http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/story/899904.html)), but it didn't take Sharon long to figure out that she was in the presence of greatness (well, save that Seattle game from the '06 playoffs, anyhow): "I didn't want to bother him," Sharon said, "but I asked again, 'You're Tony Romo, right?' " I knew it was him by then. But he smiled and said, 'Yes, ma'am.' " Sharon: "I did something no 50-year-old woman should be doing, but I screamed real loud, and then jumped up and hugged him."Bill was more concerned with Romo not spilling the beans on how the Cowboys had fared earlier in the day; the Whites were headed home to watch the game on TiVo.
In all seriousness, this is an amazing story, and it says a lot about Romo the person. And although it's a relatively small gesture, it's something the Whites will certainly never forget -- and probably something most of us wouldn't have even thought about doing. Look, we're driving a 10-year old car that is sitting in a parking lot with a flat tire in the dead of night. He could tell by that we're nothing special. But here's a young man making millions of dollars, and he's got all this fame and glory, and he does this?" The Whites couldn't thank Romo enough. "But if I ever had the opportunity, I'd also like to thank two other people. His mom and dad," Bill said. "They obviously raised him right. ..."Well, except the part about finding the right girl (http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/08/19/jessica-simpson-is-not-good-at-reading-pump-fakes-romo-family-o/). But otherwise, I couldn't agree more. And for all the mindless stories we see about "making it rain" and "puppy-murdering quarterbacks," it's refreshing to read that everybody in the NFL hasn't lost their mind.

Mr. Television 09-12-2008, 10:53 PM Way to go Tony. :woohoo:
catlover79 09-13-2008, 01:36 AM That's a nice story, Janice. Thank you for sharing it.

Nobody of course lol. I'm not saying all of us are perfect and Tony isn't, I'm saying, a lot of people look at him like he's flawless. He's a talented, excellent QB with a nice looking (but dumb  ) chick on his side lol, good for him but he does have flaws. Nevermind actually, I can see this turning into a fight...Romo did a good thing, that's all I'ma say.

What is it with you? I post a nice story, and you take a shot about it. You don't have to post in EVERY thread, and you don't have to PISS in so many threads. I'm getting fed up with it.

I agree Janice. He shouldn't have ruined your thread like that. He doesn't have to trash Romo on every single thread on the boards.
BarneyFife 09-14-2008, 01:15 AM I've never been a Dallas fan but you have to give Romo credit, he's a class act and he always seems like he's having so much fun out there on the football field. I enjoyed that story. Kudos to Tony.
Wreckless 09-14-2008, 02:23 AM I agree Janice. He shouldn't have ruined your thread like that. He doesn't have to trash Romo on every single thread on the boards.
I can't trash Romo yet somebody else can post endless amounts of crap about Philadelphia, the Eagles specifically, even before I started talking about Romo on here. I don't have a problem with the guy, a couple of times I made jokes about it and everybody thought I was serious (not this thread). The only problem I have is the jersey he wears- the team he plays for basically.
Wreckless 09-14-2008, 02:42 AM And I didn't even say anything that bad- I said he has flaws and that he's not perfect. Trashing him would first be calling him a bad quarterback, which I did not say and it wouldn't be true. I think Romo is a nice guy I guess. He's a talented quarterback. Dallas fans want me to praise the guy for everything he does like I'm a Dallas fan. I've seen many fans call the guy bad words, bad mouth him worst then saying he has flaws and get on him- even Dallas fans after not winning the last 2 years. That's all.

I don't care if you like Romo or not. I don't care for McNabb either but I don't post in endless threads about him. If it's gameday and their's a thread of course I do but you've even posted in threads that had nothing to do with the Cowboys to down him. And this thread was a nice thread talking about something good he did. I know if it was McNabb who did it ,I would give him props. I guess that's just how I am. If I couldn't do it then I wouldn't have post in it. and Solomon might not like the Eagles but I have heard him say that McNabb is one of the best qbs in the league so even he gives McNabb credit.

Not to change subjects but I doubt that he would say that, he bad mouthes the Eagles and Philly as much as he can. So to me, if people are going to constantly take shots at the Eagles and even the city, I see no wrong in just saying Romo has flaws. What is so bad about that? And a lot of people post in the sports section. I'm not trying to start an argument, I didn't think saying the guy has flaws was bad. It's not even a criticism.

Same to you- I'm lining up and getting ready to post all the threads either in the title or in the first post you start by bad mouthing the Eagles, philly sports or philadelphia as a whole. I never have talked bad about Dallas nor Dallas sports besides the Cowboys, because they're our rival obviously. You HAVE done that, except with Philly etc. Here are some:

I been bad mouthing philly teams on this board way before you had the internet so you are going to have tp deal with it or fade off to a Eagles mesage Board. You can go to
eagles.com
Eaglesfever.com
Scout.com
Wreckless 09-14-2008, 03:00 AM So you admit it? Check out some of the links of your inappropriate behavior, talking badly and cursing when the subject of the Eagles or Philly comes up...most times you bring it up. I don't even need to go to an Eagles board, I like 99% of the members on here, the mods do a great job and I have no complaints except for you banishing my team and the city of brotherly love in the sports section.

Janice 09-14-2008, 03:02 AM Give it a rest, Wreckless. You can line up 1,000 threads about Solomon, and they amount to NOTHING. He's an invaluable member of these boards, and if you don't believe me, ask TJ. You've been on Solomon's ass since DAY ONE. Get off it. I mean it. Drop it. He keeps the Sport's board hopping, just about keeps the site hopping. You're fighting City Hall here. He's a popular, well-liked, longtime member. Give it up.

You have one hell of a nerve to come to this site and tell members what they're doing wrong. You're not a moderator. Report someone if you think they're doing something wrong. We'll put your complaints in the circular file. You're a chronic complainer with a bad attitude, and those are your good points. Behave or you'll be a not so fond memory soon.

I say Romo has flaws yet I lined up threads where he has been bad mouthing Philly forever. If he just stops most of it, I said he doesn't have to like any team but calling them ****adelphia isn't right. I get in trouble if I post something about Romo, yet people are friends with this guy and he bad mouths Philly and doesn't get in trouble? I'm not trying to fight anything here- I'm defending my sports teams and city.

Everyone is friends here. That's your problem. You're making yourself Solomon's enemy. Bad move on your part. You'll get nowhere with that. Trust me. He's been here forever. He's a good member. You don't like him, this isn't the last site in the world. Every been banned from anywhere? Where did you come from, out of the blue?

Like I said to him- I like 99.9% of the members on here, I don't have a bad attitude on the whole boards- it's in one section of the forum. If you think I have a bad attitude, look at some of my posts from the Chit Chat section. But Janice, you don't even know me- just because I don't like a friend of yours, doesn't mean I have to like everybody I meet in life. Basing my attitude off of SO doesn't mean I have a bad attitude outside of the internet.

It has nothing to do with Solomon being my friend. If you were on anyone's case, I'd be on your case. I don't care if you're a Priest outside the internet. My only concern is your behavior here. Look at this thread, a mess, because of you. You attitude sucks, and it's not just me saying it. Do yourself a favor and rethink it. You won't last long. Football season is just starting. If you think you're going to harrass ANYONE, think again. It's not happening. You'll lose access to the Sport's board, permanently.

I haven't sad anything bad in this thread. I gave you examples of how he was acting up and you dismissed it for no reason. I said Romo has flaws and everybody got on me for that. I'm not harassing anyone nor am I trying to. And I haven't been on Solomon's case since Day 1. I posted in the sports board a couple months after I signed up here- I'm just saying.

You need a attitude adjustment when it comes to sports chatter
Wreckless 09-14-2008, 03:23 AM Even if I ignored Solomon, Janice, I know you still would have something against me. You are a mod and you are doing your job, so don't think I am bad mouthing you, but I know you don't like me because I don't like Solomon or the things he says.
Wreckless 09-14-2008, 03:24 AM You need a attitude adjustment when it comes to sports chatter
Nah I don't. I'm not talking to you now anyways. You need to have respect when talking about other people.
TVFactFan 09-14-2008, 03:33 AM Nah I don't. I'm not talking to you now anyways. You need to have respect when talking about other people.
You will be talking to me soon, count on it
Wreckless 09-14-2008, 03:34 AM How do you figure that? If not for the sports threads when I reply, I would never talk to you on here.

This was my thread, and it was about Tony Romo helping a couple in trouble. We don't need your two cents in every thread. If you hate Romo, you should have just passed this thread by. You knew where your comment would lead, and here it is. Proud of yourself? For God's sake, on the 'Cute things your pet does thread' on Chit Chat, you got all funky, accused me of getting mad. I don't need your attitude, and I don't need to defend myself against your mindless BS. You accused a member yesterday of stalking you. Members are not going to censor themselves because you can't handle your team being criticized. Get over yourself. You're not that important. If you're going to act like a punk, you're gone. Your attitude at Chit Chat and Sport's forums are not welcome. With the click of a button, they can disappear on you. It's that easy.
You have potential, but I'm not here to be anyone's mentor. Knock off the attitude. If you can't take your team being ripped on, find yourself a nice Disney board and chat about Bambi and Cinderalla. Now it's 3:30 am, and it ends here. I suppose I'll have to lock this thread to get you to stop flapping your jaws.
Wreckless 09-14-2008, 03:37 AM Yeah because in the thread you were like, who said anything about him pooping? and It sounded to me like you were getting angry when I didn't know what you meant. He can talk bad about Philly, yet I can't talk bad about Dallas. I don't get it, it's the same thing. I'm not here to argue with you Janice, you never responded to what I said about you not liking me.
Janice 09-14-2008, 03:44 AM Yeah because in the thread you were like, who said anything about him pooping? and It sounded to me like you were getting angry when I didn't know what you meant. I should lock you out. You're paranoid. It sounded like....you don't like me....my team....Philly, Brotherly Love.....everyone's picking on me. Good Lord, are you kidding me? I'm not here to like you. You bring too much heat to the Sport's forum. Talk about Dallas all you want, on the proper thread. Start a thread about how much you hate Dallas or even Romo, but don't hijack other threads. Don't use vulgar language, don't use the word Homo or post homosexual joke pictures. This isn't 10 years ago. Get used to Solomon ripping apart the Eagles, because he's not going to stop for you. Again, if you picked on ANYONE, I'd be on your case. I'm not closing this thread. This discussion is over.
Janice 09-14-2008, 04:11 AM One final thought, Wreckless. Think about trying to fit in, instead of being defensive. It's a fantastic group of people here. It gets wild here on the Sports board. Solomon and GARFIELDKOOL go at it, and it's a riot. It's not mean-spirited though, and everyone is friends at the end of the day. Please try harder. I see potential, but you have to accept what's been in place for years here. Solomon's not going to change for you. Accept that.
If you think you're edging out a six-year member with almost 70,000 posts, think again. Team and player bashing is allowed, yet some members exercise some restraint for their friends, some don't. Patriot bashing doesn't bother me, but if I post an article on Tom Brady's injury, that's not the place to bash him. It's good old commom sense. Let's try to start fresh. You know your sports, and this forum welcomes all members. I think, with some people, sports is like politics. It brings out an angry side of people. Sports, politics, whatever, none of it is worth a person's reputation or standing on the site.
Wreckless 09-14-2008, 04:15 AM Janice I am so sorry in the past in disrespecting you, your authority and lashing back and forth at you. I should of kept to myself and shut up.
Wreckless 09-14-2008, 04:16 AM And I agree, sports does bring out an angry side of me at least- so it is not tolerable. Even if I don't agree with a member on the board, I should control myself even If I don't agree with them.
Janice 09-14-2008, 04:24 AM Don't worry about it. We both lost our cool. I think you could be a valuable member to the Sport's board. You make excellent and keen observations on the Show forums. Just work on it. If you put your mind to something, you'd be surprised what you can do. We're all friends here, and we're a welcoming group. You just go to an established forum ready for battle, lol. You can do it. Contact me privately, if you need advice or need to be calmed downed. :)
Wreckless 09-14-2008, 04:27 AM I think it's cool of you to be this way, you didn't have to warm down to me when I was being an a-s-s but you did anyway, I admire that. Yes I think I get too rowdy in the sports section lol. For now, If anything I disagree with, If I have nothing nice to say, I will refrain from saying it, otherwise I will say what I have to say but not in a disparaging, disrespectful manner that will not be tolerated. Yeah I like a lot of the people on here and have made connections and friends with some of the members here, so I'm glad the mods and TJ keep everything great as far as order goes, including you :).
Wreckless 09-14-2008, 04:28 AM Also, I think the Sports pick em was a great idea.
TVFactFan 09-14-2008, 12:58 PM How do you figure that? If not for the sports threads when I reply, I would never talk to you on here.
As long as you are on this board you have no choice but to talk to me, you better believe that.
Schmoopie 09-15-2008, 12:57 AM Um... okay... well, I feel kind of awkward replying in the middle of this "war zone" but I just wanted to say that the story about Tony Romo is a wonderful one. Thanks for posting it, Janice. Most of the time all I ever hear about is how players get arrested for assault or DWI's (not passing judgement or blame-just making a statement), so it's nice to hear that some of them actually care about more than their million-dollar paychecks. I think that if a player does something out of pure kindness it reflects highly on the team, no matter how well they play-and that's a good thing.
Andrea
Wreckless 09-15-2008, 02:49 AM It's not a war zone anymore lol. Don't worry about it. Yeah Tony is a nice guy .
