View Full Version : Remember the Good Ole Days when buying something at a store was a SMOOTH PROCESS?
TVFactFan 09-11-2008, 07:18 PM I go to Radio Shack on the way home from work and once I brung the headphones to the counter the cashier asked me..........
Your phone number?
Last name?
First name?
Address?
Have you heard of our new??
To the point where I'm like-"JUST GIVE MY SH*T SO I CAN GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!!
anyone else annoyed by the SURVEY EXPERIENCE at the counter?
Wreckless 09-11-2008, 07:20 PM They do that at every store.
Wreckless 09-11-2008, 07:21 PM I go to Sam Goody and they ask if I want this and this, I just say no like 5 times and I pay and leave.
InspectorExstead 09-11-2008, 07:37 PM i usually just get asked for either my zip code or phone number. but there's always a "would you like to sign up for our credit card...?" i know it's part of their job to sell more things or get people to sign up for a credit card, but no, i've got enough credit cards, thank you.
Mr. Television 09-11-2008, 07:38 PM should have said none of your business. lol
TVFactFan 09-11-2008, 07:38 PM They do that at every store.
I know that, I'm saying it makes shopping annoying.
Wreckless 09-11-2008, 07:41 PM Then don't go shopping if it's that much of a problem for you. Stores ask that while being annoying, cause their job is to sell so much to the customer and offer them deals or what not. When I went to this little store equivalent to Wawa the other day, the woman offered me something I could use to save money on milk. So I took it. Some stores are more annoying then others, espec. ones that sell electronics.
TVFactFan 09-11-2008, 07:45 PM should have said none of your business. lol
Suddenly shopping online has become more attractive-lol
Mr. Television 09-11-2008, 07:46 PM The only time anyone should know my address and phone number is when I'm having a pizza delivered. lol
Wreckless 09-11-2008, 07:49 PM Yeah start buying online lol it's way better
The only thing I get asked for is my zip code.
Courtnee 09-11-2008, 08:31 PM When they ask for your zip code, what they're doing is adding to a survey to see what people in certain parts of the country are buying.
Schmoopie 09-11-2008, 10:10 PM Yeah start buying online lol it's way better
Absolutely! The only drawback is not being able to see the merchandise up close before paying, but I buy online all the time and rarely if ever have I had a problem! Online shopping is WONDERFUL!
Andrea
Hollow 09-11-2008, 10:11 PM i never get asked any of that.

Radio Shack is the worlds worst when it comes to asking for personal information. I hate going in there.
catlover79 09-11-2008, 11:32 PM Sol, you would've made a great writer for Seinfeld. You make the most mundane things sound hilarious.

Wreckless 09-11-2008, 11:43 PM He just asked you background info lol. It is ridiculous but manageable.

Ever hear of memorizing. It's not War & Peace. It's a simple sounding address. I'm buying something from a store. They get my money. That's it, no more.

I'd love to hear Judge Judy ream them out.
Zoneboy 09-12-2008, 12:19 AM Cashier: Hi, Welcome to Hardees, Would you like to try our new prime-rib burger?
Me: No, I'll have a large diet coke and that'll be all.
Cashier: Would you like an order of fries or a hot apple pie with that?
Me: No, Thank you, that'll be all.
catlover79 09-12-2008, 12:21 AM ^ Well, in my line of work, we are supposed to upsell (or at least attempt it) or be penalized. So I can understand why they do it - it's when they won't take a hint that it becomes annoying.

Unless it's a name like Main Street- I wouldn't memorize any street but mine or relatives lol. I used to live on a Main Street, matter of fact lol, is your street easy to memorize? JW.
Wreckless 09-12-2008, 12:23 AM MMM Apple Pie lol you got me hungry now. shoot I would love some fries and pie, great combo! But yeah, I don't mind at all when restaurants ask me that. Does anybody else besides ppl in Jersey have a place nearby called PJ Wellahans? I think it's local but their you have to ASK for fries, otherwise they give you chips with your sandwich, platter etc. 95% of the time it's fries, ask for chips lol.

Hardees is the only fast-food restaurant in town that does that. I try to avoid that place as much as possible but I was in dire need of a drink and they were the closest place around at the time.

How long ago was that?
Wreckless 09-12-2008, 12:28 AM I never heard of a place like Hardees, is it like a Champs kind of restaurant?

It's a fast food place. Here's more info:

Wreckless 09-12-2008, 12:34 AM Ok Cool. It sounds like a restaurant to me. I could go for some Mickey D's right now, I'm so hungry.

Yesterday
Chocoholic 09-12-2008, 03:18 PM I absolutely refuse to give the cashier my address or phone number or other personal info. If they claim they can't ring up my order, then I just tell them I'm taking my business elsewhere.
It also drives me crazy when the cashier tries to get me to buy more or sign up for the store card. One time, I was at JC Penney and the woman asked me THREE TIMES if I wanted to sign up for the store credit card. After the third time, I turned around and left. I know it's their job, but they should not be so pushy.
Wreckless 09-12-2008, 05:10 PM I agree, damn, 3 times is ridiculous. Usually, people just ask me once, or they'll ask me in places like Sam Goody for numerous things, If I want to buy them for the next time I visit, but I just say no and pass lol.
OH Nuts! 09-12-2008, 10:41 PM I go to Radio Shack on the way home from work and once I brung the headphones to the counter the cashier asked me..........

It is annoying!! I just say to them "I don't give that out." And if I get hit up to buy something else (as in a fast food place) I tell them firmly "If I wanted that I would have asked you for it."
Dude111 04-27-2026, 02:39 PM I go to Sam Goody and they ask if I want this and this, I just say no like 5 times and I pay and leave.I think more people should tell them where to stick all thier crap! (If they want business that is)
Its gotton ridiculous...
icecream 04-27-2026, 02:45 PM Posts from both Dude and TJ have disappeared in this thread.
Now Dude shows up, but TJ still isn't there.

Coffeecup 05-02-2026, 12:34 PM I somewhat feel sorry for the cashier who is encouraged to ask the customer. I do agree, one wants to get their merchandise and leave the store.
TVFactFan 05-02-2026, 12:49 PM How pathetic do someone life has to be to respond to a 16 year old thread?
Dude111 get help please.
