View Full Version : Shows That Relaxed You
Wreckless 09-09-2008, 04:50 PM Maybe after a hard day's work you feel tired or not in a good mood, or you just had a bad day or something didn't go right, what show(s) did you or do you always come home to put on or switch to, that relax you? Maybe the show was all about family, taught good values and just relaxed you. I'm not talking about shows that were hilarious, and got you out of your bad mood- they can be but what are some of the shows that relax you, settle you down or make you feel good?
For me it was always The Wonder Years. I could put in my bootleg series and watch episodes all night if I had a bad day and the premises and kind of show it was made me relaxed. Taxi & The Mary Tyler Moore Show were some others.
repeatshistory 09-09-2008, 05:32 PM Believe it or not, The A-Team was always something that I found relaxing. It was first on when I was a freshman in high school, and there was something reassuring about the formula plotlines and the lack of any real violence. In a series where the bullets were flying, no one ever really got genuinely hurt. Unrealistic? You betcha. Fun and relaxing? That too.
JulieSomoski 09-09-2008, 05:39 PM This is a tough question, because there's a lot of shows that I could easily fall back on after a hard day. Two, though, have got to be Three's Company and Roseanne. I've seen them a million times, but they always make me laugh every time I watch them.
Another one is Mary Tyler Moore. At nights, when nothing is on, I'll pop in the DVD's and watch away! Same goes for Mad About You.

Sharop 09-09-2008, 06:36 PM Cheers
Frasier
Friends
Family Ties
Murder, She Wrote
tv star collector 09-09-2008, 07:25 PM Well, The Andy Griffith Show immediately comes to my mind, because
everyone is so laid back and nothing seems to faze Sheriff Andy Taylor. By
contrast, Deputy Barney Fife is a bit hyper. But all the other citizens are,
for the most part, very relaxed and easy-going.
Also:
Leave It to Beaver
Happy Days
They're just "feel good" comedies that make you feel like the world is not such a bad place (if it's only for thirty minutes).
sunshinefizzy 09-09-2008, 08:22 PM Three's Company, Roseanne, Seinfeld and Everybody loves Raymond.
Schmoopie 09-09-2008, 09:59 PM I was going to mention Seinfeld as well, but that always has me cracking up so badly! Not exactly relaxing!

Last night, after a really bad day at work, I watched my Love Boat DVD. It helped relax me quite a bit. :)
Wreckless 09-09-2008, 10:00 PM Happy Days is another show, one of my favorites and I love. It's just a great show to watch at any mood- unless you don't feel like watching it or TV lol. Otherwise, it's a great mood setter.
rsandcm1 09-09-2008, 10:48 PM Home Improvement was one that I could just sit down and put on. Even if I had seen the episode a million times, it would still relax me and make me feel good inside. (Not to mention give me a couple of chuckles here and there!)
Brian Damage 09-09-2008, 11:07 PM Frasier, The Odd Couple
DSfan 09-09-2008, 11:08 PM Wonder Years, Saved by the Bell, California Dreams, few others as well.

You are so right about that! I just started watching disc 1 of Season 1 last night and I'm already hooked (of course, I loved it when it was on prime time)!!
"Full House" would be another one that relaxes me. Even if I've memorized the episode; it's still fun to watch!

No, the other antonym for 'relaxed' is 'excited'.

Are you making fun of me Wreckless?! :)
Adamantium 09-11-2008, 04:45 PM For me, after I've had a bad day at work, "Wings" is the show that relaxes me. Once, a couple years ago I had a HORRIBLE day at work. I came home, put in my Wings tape and had a marathon. I felt alot better afterwards.
Wreckless 09-11-2008, 07:37 PM Are you making fun of me Wreckless?! :)
Nooo why would I do that? :happyface

Go watch your Sabrina the teen aged witch  .
Btw, how many championships have the Seahawks won? Since you wanna bring sports into here.
Big C 09-11-2008, 08:48 PM Wreckless, I can't believe you are taking shots at littlebelle.
Just because your precious Eagles got pummeled by Seattle on national T.V. in 2005 doesn't mean you have to bash her.
Littlebelle didn't put up 42 points against the Eagles, IIRC.
I have heard Philly fans get a bad rap- no offense, but if Bryan Westbrook doesn't put a scoop of ice cream on his brownie, he'll get booed.

You've been talking trash- how many superbowls did the Bills lose in a row? Eagles Fans are way better then Buffalo. Last year was the first time in 10 years their was a home game in Buffalo for MNF, you think the NFL cares about them?
dawsongirl 09-11-2008, 11:10 PM Anything I consider a fav and that it easy to escape into for awhile. Both comedy and drama.

I'm not one of those bandwagon sports fan... obviously I like the hawks for reasons besides their track record. So I don't really get all worked up when people say things like "how many rings do the hawks have"?
Big C 09-12-2008, 02:54 AM She survived a dismal decade of football (They NEVER made the playoffs during the entire runs of Melrose Place and Step By Step, BTW). I think she can handle this.
Wreckless 09-12-2008, 02:56 AM It's not even about that- I wouldn't of brought it up if you didn't run your mouth against the Eagles little belle. All I said was Loaf of Tatupu  and you started.
littlebelle 09-12-2008, 02:59 AM I just like to bring that game up when the opportunity calls. Besides how could you not love Tatupu :) .
Big C 09-12-2008, 03:07 AM LB,
May I recommend these possible avatar choices since you're such a fan of Mr. Tatupu?

I think they'd look a bit cooler than the one you have (no offense).
Wreckless 09-12-2008, 03:07 AM You brought up both games, loathing like you guys did anything that year. And you did in a way that displeased me. Ok you guys beat the heck out of us on MNF @ Philly with Mike McMahon as our QB lol, it was just how you came out talking about it.
Wreckless 09-12-2008, 03:09 AM May I suggest this pic?

littlebelle 09-12-2008, 03:12 AM Well I'm sorry I offended you. I have a tenancy to be blunt and direct especially when it's with something I feel passionate it. Ask FSU, I have a really bad temper and I don't realize what I'm saying and who I'm saying it to. I'm really a nice girl, and don't really hate any other football team besides the Steelers () so no hard feelings.

How are you really going to call me out for bringing up sore subjects to eagles fans then you go and post a picture like that. I was trying to be nice and even apologized.
Big C 09-12-2008, 03:22 AM This is certainly an interesting war of words.
Whoda thunk littlebelle would get dragged into our towering inferno of big-time talking?
I think this is why I switched avatars- I like to talk a lot, just like Mr. Kennedy (kENNEDY!)
BTW, glad you switched avis.

Sure you were . It's because when I mentioned Tutapu, you were laughing like crazy and talking about the 2 games, what about those posts?
Wreckless 09-12-2008, 03:23 AM Seriously, let's take this football convo to the Chit Chat- Sports section. Either make a thread or post in one of the ones already.
littlebelle 09-12-2008, 03:25 AM Yeah, this is ridiculous. I get enough fighting in real life... this used to be the one place I could come and none of that would happen. I'd just type peacefully about my favorite shows.

Not my fault for starting it. You started trash talking the Eagles. I don't want a fight but if you're going to take shots first, I'll fire back.
Big C 09-12-2008, 03:28 AM LB's my best friend, and I'm willing to defend her whenever necessary.
Besides, she brought up a butt-kicking like you bring up Eagle butt-kickings of other teams... I think.
Wreckless 09-12-2008, 03:30 AM I don't mind- I'm saying all of us need to get out cause we're posting in the wrong section lol. Post in the sport section and we'll continue our fun war of words, or pictures, FSU lol.

I posted a post earlier saying how sometimes I just say stuff that's blunt and pointed but really don't really mean to be offensive. So I'm sorry if I offended you, I don't hate the eagles or anything.
Big C 09-12-2008, 03:34 AM Guys.
Let's be a bit more careful with where we post our thoughts.
I don't want LB to get dragged into another inferno of words.
Wreckless 09-12-2008, 03:36 AM ^ I agree. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=232141&page=3
And ok, little belle, maybe I took it the wrong way, I'm sorry for posting the Superbowl pic, you know.
Wreckless 09-12-2008, 03:37 AM And I don't hate Seattle at all- matter fact, one of my fondest moments is when Romo botched the snap against them and lost the game . Good times.
