Family Matters
Boy Meets World
Perfect Strangers
The Hughleys
I also liked teen angle/ it was about this kid who dies. he beacomes a angle. he helps his friend out.
waichingliu81 08-24-2008, 11:20 AM we don't have that channel here in the uk, but the ones i enjoyed watching on you tube are family matters and hangin' with mr cooper
GARFIELDKOOL 08-24-2008, 11:57 AM Mr. Belvedere was the best. Perfect Strangers and Just the Ten Of Us were OK. Family Matters was good before it became the Urkel Show.
JulieSomoski 08-24-2008, 12:07 PM 1993-1996 was the best for TGIF - I never missed a Friday night in those years on ABC. My favorite would probably be Family Matters, with Boy Meets World a very close second, then Sabrina and Step by Step tied for third.
catlover79 08-24-2008, 01:05 PM My fave lineup was Full House, Family Matters, Perfect Strangers and Just the Ten of Us. I also liked the early years of Step By Step and Mr. Cooper, and Mr. Belvedere just rocked!!!

Didn't the TGIF theme evnings start in 1991? I don't recall it because called TGIF in the 80's. Also I think TGIF ended in 1998

I think the Friday night sitcoms were dubbed TGIF in the 1989-90 season. I remember that's when they had the animated opening with the mouse and alarm clock aka "time for fun".

Ok I must don't remember because I wasn't watching heavily in 89
howierules86 08-24-2008, 01:17 PM Also I think TGIF ended in 1998
Nope, I distinctly remember the 1999-00 season being the last for TGIF.

I stopped watching TV on friday Nights in 1995 but I didn't know it lasted that long.
catlover79 08-24-2008, 01:25 PM ^ Same here. I watched TGIF faithfully from 4th grade until about 10th grade. By then, I was in high school and shows like Family Matters and Step by Step were really stale. They just weren't funny anymore. That said, I'd love to see the early episodes of all these shows again, because they really were a lot of fun!!!!!

Monika, if I had a time machine, I'd invite you to time travel back to anywhere from 1989 to 1996 with me and have a Friday night pajama party watching all those great TGIF shows!

I actually thought TGIF ended when Family Matters moved to CBS in the 1997 season

I wish I could go back to September 27, 1991 so I could record the 8pm to 9pm hour block when Urkel appeared on the 2nd ep of Step by Step-lol
howierules86 08-24-2008, 01:44 PM I actually thought TGIF ended when Family Matters moved to CBS in the 1997 season
Nope, by that point, Sabrina the Teenage Witch & Boy Meets World became the two signature shows for TGIF at that time until the actual end in 2000.

I was surprised that Full House was on Friday Night at one point-lol That show should have been on Sundays at 7pm

That could be arranged, too - if I actually had that time machine!
TVFactFan 08-24-2008, 01:54 PM I have one night of TGIF on VHS in my cabinet right now
From the night of May 27, 1991
8pm-Full House
8:30pm-Family Maters
9pm-Perfect Strangers
9:30pm-Going Places
DSfan 08-24-2008, 03:17 PM I like:
Boy Meets World
Family Matters
Step by Step
Full House
Odd Man Out (actually liked this show, surprisingly)
I have never seen Perfect Strangers. I really want to but no channels ever air it on reruns and there are no episodes on the Internet really.
Skywalker 08-24-2008, 03:37 PM 1989-90: Full House
1990-91: Full House and Family Matters
1991-92: Family Matters and Step By Step
1992-93: Family Matters and Step By Step
1993-96: Family Matters and Step By Step
1996-97: Boy Meets World
1997-98: Boy Meets World
1998-99: Boy Meets World
1999-00: Boy Meets World
Big C 08-24-2008, 04:28 PM Step By Step, without a doubt.
I also liked Sabrina and Boy Meets World, but Danielle and Melissa were still not close to Angela in my mind.
Angie was THE reason I loved TGIF.
JulieSomoski 08-24-2008, 05:26 PM I know TGIF started in 1989, but I always thought it ended in the 2000-2001 season. Maybe it was 2000, though, because that was the last year for both Boy Meets World and Sabrina, which pretty much carried TGIF in those last years.
When did it start back up again? Was it 2003 or 2004? That obviously didn't last long, though.

Yes, it did end after the 1999-00 season.

2003 to 2005 - Totally did not compare to the 90s lineups (Hope & Faith was easily my favorite one at that time for sure).

Yeah, the second TGIF was nothing like it was in the 90's. They had Hope and Faith and 8 Simple Rules on there for awhile, which were the only 2 I watched. It seemed like when they moved their sitcoms to Friday nights, they all were eventually cancelled soon after.
Scoobiedoo30 08-24-2008, 06:00 PM 1990-1991 Full House and Family Matters
Schmoopie 08-24-2008, 06:04 PM Monika, if I had a time machine, I'd invite you to time travel back to anywhere from 1989 to 1996 with me and have a Friday night pajama party watching all those great TGIF shows!
Sounds fun! Can I come? My all time fave TGIF show was Full House, but I never watched any of the other shows. I had actually forgotten that those shows were included in the lineup. Wasn't Family Matters in there at one point? I know it came on after Full House, because the same guy did the theme song for both shows.
Andrea

You sure can, Andrea!
DSfan 08-24-2008, 06:21 PM The 2000's version was so bad when they had Married to the Kelly's, Hope & Faith (that was alright), something Savages with these stupid brothers and their father, what else did they have during those years?
howierules86 08-24-2008, 06:21 PM Wasn't Family Matters in there at one point? I know it came on after Full House, because the same guy did the theme song for both shows.
Yes, Family Matters was there for quite a while. See my first post in this thread to look at the lineups if you need to.
TVFactFan 08-24-2008, 06:54 PM I see "Odd Man" out was a 5 month Wonder-lol
PunkyP0WER 08-24-2008, 07:58 PM i was never into those sappy shows but if i had to choose it'd be full house.

Never even heard of that one! Or Going Places.
TVFactFan 08-24-2008, 08:54 PM Never even heard of that one! Or Going Places.
Going Places was a one year wonder in 1990 starring
Alan Ruck
Heather Locklear
Staci Keanann
Big C 08-24-2008, 09:03 PM Staci Keanan
Angie's future co-star was on a different show before SBS was?! WOW!
Mr. Television 08-24-2008, 09:06 PM Angie's future co-star was on a different show before SBS was?! WOW!
Did you ever see My Two Dads? She was on there too for 3 years. That was a good show.
TVFactFan 08-24-2008, 09:06 PM Angie's future co-star was on a different show before SBS was?! WOW!
Yup, and before that show she was on "My Two Dads" that last from 1987 to 1990, and the Show "Going Places started 4 months later in the fall of 1990
catlover79 08-24-2008, 09:53 PM Yeah, let's all go back in time!! The shows back then were way better!!!!
Pavan 08-25-2008, 12:59 AM I liked it the best from 1988-1993 (I even liked Baby Talk), but I did watch shows like Family Matters, Step by Step, Mr. Cooper and the first few seasons of Boy Meets World after that era.
Scoobiedoo30 08-25-2008, 01:30 AM The Very cute Jodie Sweetin

1993-96: Family Matters, Boy Meets World, Step By Step, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper (Yes, this was the same lineup three years in a row)
I didn't care for Clueless.
howierules86 10-03-2008, 05:24 PM The 2000's version was so bad when they had Married to the Kelly's, Hope & Faith (that was alright), something Savages with these stupid brothers and their father, what else did they have during those years?
You're thinking of "Complete Savages" from the 2004-05 season, which I never liked.
janet42 10-03-2008, 09:58 PM My favorites were "Full House" and "Just The Ten of Us"
Buffyboy323 10-04-2008, 07:03 AM My #1 favorite TGIF show from the 90's has always been a toss up between Full House and Family Matters.

Not to rain on the parade of 90's TGIF love, but by request, here's the 2003-2005 era of TGIF:
2003-2004: George Lopez, Married To The Kellys/This Big House, Hope & Faith, Life With Bonnie
2004-2005: 8 Simple Rules, Complete Savages, Hope & Faith, Less Than Perfect
