The "Roseanne" reunion on CBS' "The Big Bang Theory" is becoming permanent.
Sara Gilbert, who did a three-episode guest stint last season, has joined the Warner Bros. TV-produced series as a regular.
She will reprise her role as Leonard's (Johnny Galecki) brilliant colleague and on-and-off love interest Leslie Winkle.
This mirrors the storyline of Gilbert and Galecki's characters on "Roseanne," Darlene Connor and David Healy, who also had an on-again, off-again relationship until tying the knot in the penultimate season's finale.
Gilbert's role on the long-running ABC sitcom earned her two Emmy nominations.

PrettyinPink55 08-09-2008, 12:52 AM Sweet!!! :D I'm glad she'll be a permanent cast member!!! :)
She does a great job as Leslie!!!
ryan423 08-09-2008, 01:09 AM Ummm...I love her as a guest star but frankly, do we need a new cast member? :[ I love Sara Gilbert but I dont know about this.
Scoobiedoo30 08-09-2008, 01:15 AM and yall may not know this but Sara and Jonny Galecki Dated at one time in Real Life.

I feel the same way. I like the Leslie character, but only in small doses. Making Sara a regular cast member might hurt the show a little bit. The show was fine just the way it was. There's no need to add anyone to the cast, IMO.
Superbowl 08-09-2008, 09:14 AM I like Sara, and would like to see her as a recurring character. However, I really don't think they needed another regular cast member. What makes the show great is the incredibly great chemistry among the five cast members. I really don't want to see any air time cut from the original five for a new character. With six cast members it is starting to get a little crowded now.

I see what you mean...

I completely agree. Her character was fine, but the show doesn't need a new regular. It's fine as it is.
Bricolo 08-09-2008, 06:23 PM I'm glad, much more interesting than the dumb blonde character.
JulieSomoski 08-09-2008, 10:35 PM I agree - this is a mistake. Leslie was great as a recurring character, but quite frankly, I mainly enjoyed her because it was Sara Gilbert. The character wasn't the greatest, anyways. I'm not sure how well this will turn out - hopefully it won't take any attention away from Penny.

That is just right. The show is centered around the four geek guys, and how they relate to Penny. That is the essence of the show. They need to keep that as the basic theme. I hope this does not create a distraction with another character in every show. As a recurring character Leslie is fine, but we don't need her in every show. I hope this does not change the great chemistry of the show.
ginger23 08-10-2008, 03:27 AM I actually think this is great!! I think Sara and Johnny have this really great chimestry and it would big great to see them cooperating each and every week. I think anyone who grew up with Darlene and David like I did would agree with that....

No one can disagree they have fantastic chemistry. I'm one to say Roseanne was the best sitcom ever made. The problem is I guess that Leslie is one of those characters that you want in small doses. Maybe that'll change depending on the way Chuck and the writting staff bring her into the show.
Scoobiedoo30 08-10-2008, 11:11 AM I am hoping something happens between Johnny and Penny
Superstar 08-10-2008, 05:07 PM Anybody else think there could be some sort of love triangle between Leonard, Penny and Leslie?
Is she really going to be a regular? I read that she was going to do more episodes than last season, but wasn't going to be a regular.
I agree the premise is the 4 Geeks and a Girl. I thought last season Leslie was only using Leonard as a booty call? Should be an interesting triangle as Penny was shown to be a little jealous of Leslie last season. Change of pace of Penny going out with the beefcake guys and Leonard being jealous.
ryan423 08-10-2008, 05:38 PM It has been confirmed that Leslie will be a loving relationship for Sheldon! This doesn't mean that there still couldn't be the love triangle between Leslie, Penny and Leonard:]
Can't really picture Sheldon being in any kind of loving relationship with anybody. He's a little too self-centered and has virtually no awareness of other people's feelings, but just getting to the point of him being in a relationship sounds like it could be hilarious.
JulieSomoski 08-11-2008, 01:23 PM Based on the season finale, I'm hoping something more happens between Penny and Leonard. I just hope Leslie won't come and mess things up with that storyline.

I think you are out of luck on that one. I think Penny and Leonard will break up, and Leslie will be used to make Penny jealous. If you remember, Penny had some jealous looks when Leslie first slept with Leonard. I don't know if you saw this video interview, but Kaley sort of hints at the idea that another character will make Penny jealous this season. See here :

thetornado 08-11-2008, 09:21 PM I wasn't sure about the big bang theory but now I will have to check it out!

Give it three or four episodes I am sure you will enjoy it. It is a really funny show, but you may need a few shows to get used to it. If you want to see one of Sara Gilbert's episodes from last season they are replaying one of them on Monday, August 25 at. It is a good one with the physics bowl .
MrRetro_08 08-12-2008, 05:56 AM Thanks for the info
PrettyinPink55 08-13-2008, 10:53 AM Anybody else think there could be some sort of love triangle between Leonard, Penny and Leslie?
That's how I thought it would be.
I want Leonard and Penny together, but not too soon...does that make sense?
Scoobiedoo30 08-13-2008, 01:00 PM I also like Leonard and Penny Together.
