All of these shows are from the 1950s, 60s and 70s (with some 70s shows pouring into the 80s). For the most part the schedule would stay the same through December, except for the short-lived shows which I might change after a few months.
robyrob 07-20-2008, 03:09 PM excellent schedule, but it would NEVER work for TVLand because too many people would like it - and they just can't have that.
MickeyMac 07-20-2008, 03:12 PM If I were in charge of TVLand, first off no more shows past 1970. A good portion of those shows are aired elsewhere, and that would leave room for more shows from the 50's and 60's that seldom(if ever) get shown. Also I would program more of the rock and roll music shows like Shindig, Hullabaloo and the like.

I've typed up schedules in the past with just 1950s and 60s programming. But for TV Land I think it works best if we include the 1970s as well.
And also, only one show is complete on DVD (The Monkees). The rest either haven't finished or haven't started their DVD runs yet.
As for The Monkees, I just think it would make a nice companion to the 1960s Batman series. That's why I added it to the lineup.
dawsongirl 07-20-2008, 10:16 PM excellent schedule, but it would NEVER work for TVLand because too many people would like it - and they just can't have that.
Yay...love for Route 66.
Jude The Obscure 07-20-2008, 10:26 PM Would be a great lineup--if the channel were called Turner Classic Television
I still say Ted Turner missed the boat when he didn't think of this channel.
icecream 07-20-2008, 10:36 PM I'll use the schedule I had for the sitcom broadcasting channel.

No thanks, I have had enough of the 1970's!!!!

Fine, then go watch someone else's imaginary TV Land. ;)
As for the 1970s, I'm not a huge fan of the Norman Lear stuff that the 70s are famous for. I'm more a fan of (the shows I listed in my schedule) The Odd Couple, Taxi, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, those type shows. I respect Lear's shows and enjoy some of them some of the time but I really love the other 70s shows.

Simmer Down Adam, breathe in, breathe out, take it easy buddy. If you are looking for a fight, try boxing. Me no fuss, no fight. I think you misunderstood me. I prefer 50's and 60's TV, but there are a handful of shows from the 70's I dig. I just think they take too much attention away from overlooked gems from previous decades.
Give me time and I'll come up with my dream TV Land schedule.

I was just joking around. If you knew me, you'd know I can't stand confrontation, lol. That's why you'll never see me in the Politics Board. :)
And for the record, I don't have the "onions" to try boxing. :D

Schmoopie 07-22-2008, 02:36 AM I love your schedule, Adamantium! Most of those shows I absolutely love! Especially Dobie Gillis. I remember when it used to come on the GOOD "Nick at Nite"!
I agree that with TV Land, there shouldn't be any shows that are older than the 70's.:rainbow: I could deal with shows that ran until the 80's (as someone pointed out), but I think 80's shows are just too "new" for TV Land. Plus, it makes me feel old, because I remember when they first premiered!
Okay, that being said, here's my list of what should be on Nick at Nite:
The Patty Duke Show
The Munsters
Love Boat
Fantasy Island
Brady Bunch
I Love Lucy
Dobie Gillis
Leave it to Beaver
Happy Days
Laverne and Shirley
Hart to Hart
Partridge Family
Monkees
All in the Family
Archie Bunker's Place
Muppet Show
Vega$
Welcome Back, Kotter
Bewitched
Dick Van Dyke
Get Smart
Green Acres
My Three Sons
Donna Reed
Father Knows Best
Andrea

Groovy baby, I can dig it :)
Wreckless 07-24-2008, 04:41 AM I dont know about times and days wise but I'd have
Gilligans Island
Happy Days
Laverne and Shirley
The Cosby Show
Brady Bunch
Threes Company
All In The Family
Jeffersons (not as much as the others though)
Bob Newhart Show
The Munsters
and Mary Tyler Moore
and i would set it up something like Nick @ Nite did back around the mid to late 90s, like, bewitched bawednesdays, fonzie fridays, etc.
So how about, Mary Mondays
Taxi Tuesdays
I Love Lucy
Bewitched
Taxi
Wednesdays would be a mix of all shows (just the whole lineup ran down the list)
Thurston Howl's Thursdays!
Fonzie Fridays
and saturday and sunday would be more mixes, with the shows not listed on the weekdays shown more
Scoobiedoo30 07-24-2008, 12:20 PM I would bring back Benson to The TV Land Schedule.
James28 07-24-2008, 11:17 PM If I were in charge of TV Land, I would not air any shows that have aired past the year 2000 at all. I would have a chance to bring One Day at a Time to the network.
Scoobiedoo30 07-25-2008, 01:10 AM I agree with you
goingghostal 07-25-2008, 09:22 AM Actually, any schedule submitted for our beloved TV Land channel that DOES NOT include a show possessing one iota of this rapidly spreading infectious disease which has become known as "Reality" TV being aired on what WAS originally intended to be a channel whose sole purpose was to entirely focus on and deliver "nostalgia" programming {and STILL should be} for our viewing enjoyment would satisfy me immensely. Adamantium, your schedule won me over, especially, with the inclusion of "The Three Stooges" on your list as I am a huge Stooge fan and have nearly every one of their "short" filmings. I may be in favor, though, of adding some of those outstanding shows from the 80's, as well. And "The Andy Griffith Show," {those episodes airing in black and white prior to Don Knotts exiting} no doubt is my favorite half hour comedy ever because it just reminds me so much of life in my childhood days and keeps me "young" at heart. I never grow tired of viewing it, even though I've seen every episode so many times that I know what line will be said next. It would be "UN-AMERICAN" for TV Land to ever even consider the idea of removing that show from their lineup {they couldn't possibly be THAT stupid! Or COULD they?}, BUT this is the "new" brainwashed TV Land which has contracted this "Reality" disease, so nothing they may inflict next on us viewers would surprise me. Anyway, I don't have a schedule penciled in, but here are a few of my suggestions to add: {sorry if any duplications appear}
The Adventures of Superman
77 Sunset Strip
Topper
Have Gun Will Travel
Wanted Dead or Alive
The Untouchables
Rawhide
F Troop
McHales Navy
The Outer Limits
One Step Beyond
The Invaders {starring Roy Thinnis}
Saturday Night Live {shows from it's origin through the mid 80's}
And from the 80's {or possibly from the early 90's} I would include the following hourly shows:
The Wise Guy
Midnight Caller
The Equalizer

I wrote down a bunch of shows and then scheduled them. Not all the shows made the schedule, such as Have Gun Will Travel, F Troop, and Classic Saturday Night Live. Though, I only figured on the the first five seasons.
I don't have a problem with 80s shows, but for TV Land, I would prefer only 50s, 60s and 70s.
Also, for my schedule, I tried to pick only shows that were not complete on DVD. "The Andy Griffith Show" is complete on DVD, otherwise I would have considered it. Same goes for "Three's Company" and "I Love Lucy." But I still felt Lucille Ball should be represented on TV Land. That's why I went with her other series "The Lucy Show."
As for the Stooges, growing up, I remember a time when TBS aired the Three Stooges at 6:05am. So I wanted it there for other people to grow up with the Stooges on at 6.

OK, Adamatium, I understand your reasoning for omitting some of the classic ones you just mentioned because of the DVD's that have become available. I left out a lot, too. There are just so many great shows {far too many to list} that all of us would truly enjoy viewing on the TV Land channel, but we will probably never be presented with that luxury. I realize that it would be virtually impossible to air everyone's favorite shows, but again, I just wished the ptb on TV Land would please listen to our plea and abruptly CEASE this "Reality" garbage and devote more energy and attention into making available at least some of these wonderful shows from past decades. As for the Stooges, I grew up worshipping them and still do! I have the majority of their aired "short" films on four VHS tapes which I copied off of cable back in the 70's without the commercials and the quality is still very decent. I'm sure you are aware of Sony's excellent reproduction of their "short" films on DVD beginning with Volume I {1934-1936} and Volume II {1937-1939}. I purchased both of them from Amazon and the quality is just unbelieveably perfect! I also bought two other DVD's from Sony, "Spook Louder" and "Merry Mavericks" in addition to pre-ordering Volume III {1940-1942}, which is scheduled to be released in late August of this year. I would recommend this collection to any diehard Stooge fan. The price is right and the quality is outstanding! Sony really hit a homerun with their effort and I hope they continue to make available ALL the volumes in chronological order.
storrs19 07-26-2008, 08:47 AM If I took it over there would be no shows that debuted after 1980. It would be much like it was when it debuted back in 1995 or 1996 with all shows unedited and only retromercials. In other words, it would be what it was and should be now.

Before I got a DVD player (before I ever heard of DVDs), I taped The Three Stooges off of TBS. Plus, I bought all the Stooge tapes I could find in stores. Of course that took some years, as I was a kid and had to always ask my parents "Can I get this?" My dad's a Stooge fan himself, so he was glad I got into them. Anyways, in 2000, or around that time, AMC started airing The Three Stooges. I taped all those. At one point with all my official tapes and AMC tapes (my TBS tapes were long gone at that point, I had a problem taking care of stuff), I had all 97 Curly shorts. And almost half of the Shemps. I had about three of four Joe Besser's from AMC. And then... DVDs came out. So I restarted my collection. I bought a bunch of the Sony releases, figuring they'd never release them in order. Well now they do, and I'm very happy about it. Hopefully now they'll go for all 190 shorts and I'll get back all the Curly's, all those Shemps I never got and finally get all the Joe Bessers. Then I want someone to start tackling the Curly-Joe era. I have most of their movies with him. Rhino released two volumes of the cartoon, but I want the whole series. Maybe Shout! or some company would release all the episodes to "The New Three Stooges." I have their 1949 TV pilot "Jerks of All Trades" and their final appearance together, "Kook's Tour". Basically, I want every Three Stooges show or movie ever made.
And don't worry. If I stayed in charge of TV Land, I would change the schedule, just not as often as they do. I already feel like I should have given "The Lucy Show" a better timeslot, maybe an hour. And I'd like to add "Have Gun, Will Travel", "Topper", "Amos N' Andy", maybe some more variety shows like Red Skelton or Jack Benny. But that would all come later.
I gotta say, if TV Land actually had the schedule I made, I would struggle to find time to watch all my DVDs. I'd spend most of my time watching TV Land.

Oh now that would be VERY cool! I never thought about adding retro commercials! I love watching those, which is sad because usually we all hate having to put up with commercials!

Including the CBS cartoon, "The Three Robotic Stooges", that aired as part of "The Skatebirds"? :)

My Stooge collection does not include any of the cartoons, although, I did enjoy them, too. Yes, I'm certainly delighted to see that Sony will be releasing their next DVD, Volume III and I too, hope that they will continue to feature all the shorts chronologically. I have read reviews on the Amazon site from those who purchased "Shemp Toast" and a few other Stooge DVD's which have been out for a few years expressing their disappointment in the quality of the films, saying that some of the shorts had a yellowish tint to them and the clearity was grainy, but they would have to be MUCH better than what we were used to viewing off of cable, or at least that is what I imagined. It must have been a trial and error situation with creating better quality because as I stated, the DVD's "Spook Louder" and "Merry Mavericks" which I purchased were nearly perfect in quality. I had NO complaints with those two, nor Volumes I & II and I look forward to receiving Volume III in late August. There were some 8 and 12 pack DVD offers available and their reviews were not that great either, however, despite those negative reviews I would have purchased every DVD available, great quality or not, until I owned all 190 shorts had Sony not decided to begin creating volumes in chronological order. I had read in my Three Stooges Fan Club newsletter that Sony was soon to begin creating these volumes, so I just anxiously waited for them to come on the market. Keep 'em coming, Sony!
Yes, I agree, if TV Land were to air your schedule, I too, would spend much less time watching DVD's and the repetitiveness of ESPN's Sports Center just to catch some baseball scores! LOL!
KurtfromPitts 07-28-2008, 03:50 PM I would program The 50s at 5, The 60s at 6, and The 70s at 7, with different shows on different days, such as I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners on Mondays at 5, and The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family Fridays at 7.

PattiB 08-04-2008, 12:41 AM It still makes me feel sad to remember how wonderful TV land was years ago and see what they done to it. :(
If I could decide what to do with TV Land I would return it to it's roots. Classic TV.
I wonder if it's possible to contact Ted Turner somehow and put a bug in his ear about a Classic Sitcom network?
Adamantium 09-03-2008, 06:22 PM If only I really was in charge of TV Land, no one would have to worry about the upcoming TV Land PRIME. But no. The arses in charge of TV Land run the place. I have to settle for typing up imaginary schedules for the channel.

I really wish you owned TV Land. Your schedules are a lot better than their's.
hoosierelvisfan 09-03-2008, 09:25 PM Beginning in September of 2008, here's how the schedule would look.
Primetime Lineup
8:00pm - “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”
8:30pm - “Rhoda”
9:00pm - “The Odd Couple”
9:30pm - “Taxi”
10:00pm - “Chico and the Man”
10:30pm - “Welcome Back, Kotter”
11:00pm - “Barney Miller”
11:30pm - “The Bob Newhart Show”
12:00am - “Laugh-In”
12:30am - “Laugh-In” Concluded
.
That's a great schedule. I would replace "Rhoda" with the Andy Griffith Show and also see about fitting Sanford and Son in somewhere. I would also love to see some dramatic cop shows on the schedule from the 70's such as Baretta; Starsky and Hutch; and SWAT. I would love to see Emergency on there as well.
Sadly, this is nothing but a pipe dream. TV Land has turned into "B-Grade Reality Show Land" and ""1990's/2000's Land." I cringe when I turn on TV Land and see Scrubs now and Designing Women and "Move That Bus!!!" LOL! I can't stand second-rate reality shows like "She's Got the Look" and "Family Foreman" which are bad enough once but then they end up showing the same episodes two times in a row and then four hours later and then eight hours after that and then two days later, three days later, four days later, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, . . . . . etc, etc, etc, etc, The same way with these movies they've been playing. Show the same three or four movies twenty-eight times each in one month. With all the great shows out there, why oh why can't they show some variety in there and instead of showing "My Cousin Vinny" for the 300th time, fit in some Sanford and Son; Andy Griffith Show; Mary Tyler Moore; or Bob Newhart??????
RIP, TV Land
Rue_McClanahan 09-05-2008, 03:44 PM If I took over TV Land, there would be no origional series...just the Myths & Legends and stuff like that only. I would bring back a lot of shows and take away some that are now on there. Man, I really do wish I could run TV Land! I had a lot of fun creating this program schedule and I sooo wish they would have these shows on again and get rid of this reality show stuff! Man, they annoy the heck out of me with them. I can't believe how many times they re-air an episode. Like I said in my other post though, it's that way with other stations too cause there was a reality show on CMT that it seemed every single time I turned to that station it was on there...drove me crazy just flipping past and there was is again! Gesh, enough already...to me it's bad enough the first time, let alone the 100th. There's sooo much more that can be put on TV Land that you don't have to air the same episodes of these TV Land Origionals a million times.
We all need to ban together and get a list of the shows we want to see come back to TV Land and then make up a little note on how we feel about these changes and that we want it to still be the classics, ect. and get it into a petition to have a bunch of people sign and send to them. But, sadly that may not work. Anyway, here's what my schedule would be:

Excellent :yourock:
I could not have said it better myself Solomon. That sums it up in a nutshell. When I watch my bootleg dvds of shows from TVLand and they leave the TVLand promo spots and retromercials in it reminds me of what a great channel it once was. My only hope is to get RTN in Louisville, Kentucky before that network goes down like the rest of them.
