View Full Version : Which actor could have replaced James Evans on Good Times? studd911 07-02-2008, 05:58 PM which actor could have replaced james evans on gt anybody in mind, and dodid anybody think that alderman davis was like a ghetto richard nixion divalastic 07-08-2008, 02:36 PM No one. To this day I have yet to see an actor whose acting was so powerful in a sitcom. The only other sitcom actor that may come close is James Avery. Esther Rolle was a very good actress as well. Sitcom wise to me her equal would be Phylicia Rashad. It's a shame now how looks are more important than talent these days. hatwink 07-11-2008, 10:13 AM I think no one could replace James or Florida.Esther Rolle and John Amos are powerful actors, and for those roles, impossible to replace. Andenisa 09-22-2008, 04:01 AM I'd say Lou Gossett. I realize he played as Thelma's fiancee. But in my opinion, his acting talents are just as good as John Amos' Yemana's Coffee 09-25-2008, 07:45 PM No one. To this day I have yet to see an actor whose acting was so powerful in a sitcom. John Amos is a great actor. 70s show watcher 09-28-2008, 12:03 AM ossie davis might have been able to pull it off MikeLutton 09-28-2008, 02:29 AM sherman hemesley would beengood or reginald vel johnson if he was acting by then GARFIELDKOOL 09-30-2008, 07:26 AM I'd say Lou Gossett. He also gave the family a decent male figure in the house when James was gone. He wasn't James, but he came close. Don Howard 10-14-2008, 09:03 AM The only person I might buy in the role (in addition to the aforementioned Lou Gossett) is Paul Winfield. But not replacing John Amos, I believe, was the right way to go. |
