View Full Version : Another wardrobe malfunction...
LoveMrsG 07-01-2008, 05:38 PM And I'm NOT talking about Janet Jackson!!! We were talking on here before about the 1st season wardrobe with the girls wearing skimpy shorts in Peekskill, NY year-round. I've always noticed another problem with wardrobe in the season 3 episode, "The Academy" where Jo fixes her friend from military school up with Blair and Mrs. G. and the girls all go to this military academy dance. Is it just me, everybody, or are Natalie and Tootie wearing dresses that are WAY too old for their age in that episode??? It could just be my imagination, but I think they're wearing old-lady-type dresses instead of looking like teenage girls at a dance...especially Natalie.
pfeifferobsessed 07-01-2008, 09:15 PM i think natalies was intentional! ;)
Jude The Obscure 07-01-2008, 11:11 PM "oh......gladiolas.......stunning!"
Nighthawk76 07-01-2008, 11:34 PM This really doesn't fall under the subject of "wardrobe malfunction" but what was the costumer thinking when he or she picked the dress that Jo wore to Mrs. Garrett's wedding? That was an awful dress. And wearing it with sneakers and socks was even more tacky.

Jo was wearing SNEAKERS AND SOCKS for Mrs. Garrett's wedding??? I've definitely seen "Out of Peekskill" before and *I* sure didn't catch that!!! But then again, I was probably too busy weeping because we were losing Mrs. Garrett! :)

OMG yes...this subject really has no end for me, because I hated almost every outfit every person wore on the show. However, one does stand out: I have always DESPISED that horrific peasant dress Jo wore to the cotillion in "Double Standard." Just thinking about it makes me weep, and every time I see it a die a little inside.

You mean every outfit in every episode? Even on Blair?

good Lord!!! you surely cant mean blair...she always looked stunning! tooties outfits in the eastland years were the worst...those ties and high socks, ugh!
painmakeyourway 07-02-2008, 08:04 PM ok I'm being forced to add qualifiers
Of course Blair always looked gorgeous, even when she had bad hair. And actually, aside from the bad hair, all of the girls looked fabulous. And no, I can't say I hated EVERY outfit in EVERY episode. I actually liked some of them. But I'm just not a fan of '80s fashion, so I don't like most of the clothes.
but don't get me wrong, Lisa Whelchel always looks amazing, she's too beautiful to be hampered by bad clothing ;)
pfeifferobsessed 07-03-2008, 05:21 AM thank you for clarifying that up!
and i agree, lisa whelchel is beautiful! :D
RoryGilmore 07-03-2008, 02:29 PM I watched "The Academy" yeterday or the day before and it seemed like Jo's hair was shorter than it should've been. idk I colud be going crazy here I guess its just shorter than I would've thought

i kinda always thought the same thing...maybe she had gotten it cut right before that ep or something!
Jude The Obscure 07-03-2008, 07:28 PM I loved the rare occassions when Jo would let her hair down :)

Knee socks were really, really popular during the mid-1980's. It even became a running joke during the 5th season with Boots St.Clair.

Blair never wore a bad outfit during the entire nine seasons. That's why she was Blair. Also, even though Blair was considered the stylish one, she actully dressed really conservative, especially beginning with the Edna's Edibles episodes.

totally off the subject but I love Boots!!! I think she's hilarious
Jude The Obscure 07-04-2008, 02:41 PM I think Jamie Gertz was perfect in the role! Boots should have been more on FOL!

definitely!
"whoosh!"
Jude The Obscure 07-05-2008, 12:54 PM I liked her more as Boots, than her character on Square Pegs.
"Say, can I get the pate by a half-smidge?"
"Sorry, I only sell by the whole smidge"

I think the 5 of them look like princesses in this episode (a bit 19th century but cute) & JO was especially gorgeous!

I liked Blair dressing up as a biker chick.   A nice reversal of roles. It would have been nice if she did that more often.

Women wearing sneakers with skirts was very popular in the 1950s and 1960s in the USA. It is still popular among Orthodox Jewish girls and women to this day, and I assume many Muslim girls/women dress like this as well.
Johnny be good! 01-03-2013, 08:30 AM My parents were adults in the 1980's and they've always mentioned their teen cousins dressing beyond their years.
