Do you know if there will be any changes made to the set or to the way Drew does the show when the new season starts in September?

Do you what the season average was for the Price is Right this season? Did ratings go up or down by the end of the season, and is CBS happy with how Drew is doing?

Well I think absolutely anything is possible.... A new set, new rules, anything is possible for season 37. The reason I say this is I just found out from my friend in hollywood that longtime producer roger dobkowitz has been let go. Trust me when I say this everyone, it was Roger who kept the show on its current path for season 36. Fremantle media wanted to change almost everything about the show, the set the games...you name it. Our friend Roger fought till he had no breath in his body to keep the price is right from spiraling out of control.

They just concluded filming on season 36 this week & the season finale will air shortly, I believe on July 17th.

Season 37 will begin taping on July 20th & will have a traditional mid september launch.

I will keep you all up to date on the latest as I hear it, but by no means am I a confident boy going into season 37 now that the dob is gone.

The season as a whole tailed off about 10% for the season, which in all honesty is not bad, it started off like a house of fire in drews first week then the bottom fell out quickly & it went thru bad months in november & december, then something happened when they made those primetime specials, more people got introduced to him as the host & the show climbed up a bit & maintained the ratings for the season, but the first month of the season was tough to climb out of. The primetime shows easily won their time slots (even in repeats)..the show overall did alot better than I thought it would, but now all is up in the air with roger dobkowitz getting let go.

I have not heard anything more on the show going on tour since early this season. I last spoke to roger about that subject earlier this year & he said def not in season 36 & probably not until mid season 37 at the earliest. Now that he is gone I have no idea what they will do. I will contact my friend in hollywood this week & see what I can uncover

Great information!!! Thanks!

In your opinion, what do you think is the worst case senario for TPIR with the recent let go of Roger Dobkowitz?

Ratings are down all across television this season, especially in daytime. Ratings being off for TPIR shouldn't be a problem at all, considering Bob Barker has retired and the show is in it's 37th season. But, seems to me like CBS and Fremantle are making the ratings problem more that it really is. I just hope someone will fight for this show. Knowing Drew Carey, I'm sure he'll stand in the way and try to keep things the way they are. Maybe Bob himself could even come back and stop Fremantle from what they want to do to the set and the show itself.

At this point I would say the price is right with an american idol type look, that was the plan before Roger stepped in last year & i saw some of the designs for the set they were planning for this season (36) My god I can't imagine the show without the doors, without models, without actual prizes on the stage & a " new contestants row" Let me just say if they use the plans they were going to use last year... I will never ever watch the show again & it will become the laughing stock of television...

Bob will not get involved in this, that much I assure you. He has no involvement in the show anymore. Drew Carey from what I understand is not at all happy about this, I will find out more info as we go along here

I am completely with you on this one, mriggles, the show will be dead without the set we all know an love. I couldn't imagine the Price is Right without the classic designs, the sliding doors, contestants row, the retro look. And I'm so glad to hear Drew isn't happy with this. The fact that he's upset just makes him a better host - I hope he can do someting about it.

If they mess with the set, they're going to kill the show, no doubt. The Price is Right is not The Price is Right without the set, the doors, contestants row, and the overall retro look. I just can't imagine it being an American Idol-type set.

The one saving grace is that as of now the new season starts taping on either the 20th or the 21st... I forget which, so there may not be enough time to radically change everything., but i suppose if they work round the clock, it can happen, after all the price crew is the very best in the business.

Trust me when I say, this look will not work... I saw the designs & me being a die hard fan of the show will flat out refuse to watch it... Its not a done deal yet though so their still may be hope

No, it just won't work with a show like TPIR. I've watched the show from the very beginning, all through my childhood, and I still watch everyday.

And what's worse, Drew Carey, even though we all know he's against the changes, will be blamed for ruining TPIR. It's wrong, though, because he's not the one who'll kill it.

The reason why I think CBS and Fremantle want to change TPIR is to attract the 18-34 age demographic and to get the ratings back up. It's not going to be possible to get the 18-34 demographic because they are at School or Work. And if the ratings don't come back then it could kill the show. CBS and Fremantle need to look at what isn't working with Price right now and try to fix it otherwise everything is going to fail and kill the show.

It seems to me that the ratings improved late in the season and those prime-time airings were pretty popular too. I don't know why they don't give it another year. Making it another AI copycat isn't going to work. I don't think they attract the same crowds.

Fremantle is SO AI HAPPY, that they think the only thing that can work is something like that....

Your right, the ratings from feb-may were the best of the year & the show once again was winning the time slot (not every day) but early on other than the week of 10-15, the view beat price handily every week, which is unheard of.... THat show was number 1 no matter what for 30 years!

But the fact that ratings were crawling back up should be a sign to them to let it go unchanged for at least another season. And the primetime specials really did great, even now when they're repeating on Wednesday nights they're getting close to 8 million viewers.

Your right Julie... You should be running fremantle ;)

The ratings for the primetime specials were almost as good as Bobs Million dollar spectaculars over the last few years. The name of the game is making money & the show got off to a very very bad start in that department this season, but as time went on, things steadied.

If they don't radically change things, the loyal price viewers like myself will still watch, Drew grew on me as the season went on, I think he did a very very good job in his first season, BUT there are some people, well one in particular who is determined to make the show anything but retro. With JUst over a week to go until the production begins for season 37, the wheels are spinning over at beverly & fairfax.

More when I can talk...right now I am being muzzled from giving specifics:lol:

In theory your right my friend, but Fremantle has done extensive research this season on the audiences who are now attending the show & it is thought by some (well one person mostly) that the show needs to have its own look now because thats what the core audience members would be attracted too..

Im telling you, if what could happen happens, the show will not look anything like we know... It could be bad, BUT Nothing & i repeat nothing has been settled on. I know there are people hard at work right now on a whole new set, but I honestly do not think this set they are designing will ever see the stage... I base that on my gut feeling, not any inside knowledge I have.

Could be, but last year everyone feared the worst & things turned out ok, BUT there is no Roger dobkowitz this year to fight the good fight.

I can't even begin to tell you how big of a loss that is, even if nothing changes with the set or anything else, you will see the difference now that Roger is nto with the show, trust me on that

They have been hard at work on designing the season 37 set, BUT as you said time is running out, with 1 week to go it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
