According to tvshowsondvd.com Shout Factory will release a single 90 minute Christmas themed disc on Sept 16 (I can see that date changing), it is already up for pre-order at amazon...which lists it as being in color, which has to be a mistake.....fantastic news but wished it was more extensive since O&H had at least 10 Christmas themed episodes, but beggers can't be choosy!

They are also reporting that the release will include Rick singing 'Baby I'm Sorry" so maybe our resident expert "CJ" can figure out what episode will definatley be included in this release, since "CJ" has expertly tied every Rick song to the episode it comes from!

OH Nuts!

It will be interesting to see which 3 they pick (or 4 depending on how much they cut an ep) I REALLY HOPE they're not Busy Christmas, The Girl At The Emporium, The Christmas Tree Lot, or A Piano For The Fraternity - it be so nice to have an addition to the Xmas eps I have already. And YES can't be in color as only last season was color.

Well, it sounds to me like it will include this one, then.

185: The Christmas Tree Lot 12/18/1957 - Oh, Baby I’m Sorry

Oh well, maybe I'll luck out on the other choices. I've been doing pretty good with Shout (only 50% of first set were repeaters)

It's great that O&H must be making good sales for SHOUT for them to continue to put out more offerings.

I agree it would be nice if some other Christmas episodes could be included besides the same old same old that have been released on so many other dvds. If I were choosing two I would include would be Day After Christmas and The Miracle I think it is called, I call it CAn Ozzie make it snow, as I talked about in another thread.

The Girl at the Emporium has a Christmas theme, in that they are in the holiday season, but it really isn't Christmasy.

I'd be great if the next relsease from Shout regarding O&H was that they were releasing the Complete uncut First season.

These new offerings are just wonderful and have me so exciting. For someone who's a real fan (and I am) my collection is relatively small (about 165-170 right now) so the more eps I can get the better.

What I really hope is Mill Creek releases another set. All things considered, they did a wonderful job.

The early yrs are not my fav ones and I'm not crazy abt the season by season releases other shows do - I like releases having a mix - but there may be something I don't know as you are a more savvy collector than I. (Everything I've gotten has been thru stores, no trading so far, really do need to think abt this route or buying from collectors,or I'll never have a real collection unless Shout or Mill Creek keep up their pattern up of coming thru with these amazing releases)

Does anyone know just how many public domain episodes are out there? I really need to organize my collection and see just how many episodes I do have.

This might help a little. Below, is my ''missing'' list of 92 episodes. I know there are a few more on this list that are ''available'', I just haven't been able to locate them. The ones I do have are from Disney, film transfers, a couple of different family-type channels, DVD's I have picked up along the way, and the official releases. Oh, and ME TOO in Chicago will begin airing O&H again in July at 2:30am. They are beginning with the 5th episode, Halloween Party.

Check your episodes, folks !!! If anyone can provide ANY one of these missing titles for me, I would love to hear from you.

Wow! That's a lot of work for you to do. I do appreciate it. It seems I'm missing about 175 episodes. Some of the titles throw me since a few sound familiar until I see another title that might fit the episode too.

I just cut & pasted it from my ''Ozzie'' file, LOL.

If you are unclear about an episode, I may be able to help you sort it out if you provide a little episode detail. I have encountered a few that I have had to change, thinking I had them, only to find out they were still among my missing.

I believe I have 7 episodes of the ones CJ is missing. Curiosity, The Painter, Too Many Children, A Tuxedo for David, The Buckingham, An Interset For Harriet and Lending Money to Wally.

I thought I had another one but ended up what I had thought was it's title was something different of what it is. I'm with Honeybea. It's HARD to figure out what some of the titles go to what show because some shows seem to be able to go with a couple different titles.

I want to double check all my tapes, but that's what I can figure so far by my old lists. I hadn't updated them in a while, when I know I added a few more episodes that were on some Christian channel a few years ago.

I like season by season. Unct, and provided they continue for the entire duration of the series, because then I know I am getting Every episode of what show it is I'm collecting. I also like to watch them in 'real' time. In order the entire series, of few seasons in a row every once in a while. It's like watching the show and characters grow. You can also get a sense of when the show really started coming into it's own. You know how a lot of times the first season of so of a show, the feel to it is entirely different than the rest of the series. I like having entire series, and watching the natural progression of the show.

I did that recently with Family Affair, I have all 5 season sets. I watched wach one as they came out, then after the 5th I started at the beginning and watching 2-3 episodes a night, went through and watched the entire series beginning to end. It was fun to see Buffy and Jody gradually aging every night.

Yes, I see your point. I was so used to VHS releases which tended to do a hodge podge or best of. But now with DVDs storing so many epsiodes it's easy, and yes, I def see the advantage of continuity. The season by season def works, esp. for shorter series.

With O&H, cause it went on for so long, guess I never thought of it that way. I am hoping one day to have at least 250 eps. Ideally of course I'd like them all. But might rest happy at 300. There really is something nice about having ALL of a series. There are a few where I'd like to, but I also have had issues with clutter so I'm leary of collecting too many. The only 2 where I do have everything is I Love Lucy and Sex And The City. Other shows, bsides O&H, I'd like to have a lot of would be Patty Duke, Little House On The Prarie (which w/b easy). I already have the first 5 seasons of Bewitched, which is enough for me since I don't care for Dick Sargeant as Darrin. With Bewitched many fans seem to agree S#5 is where the season jumps the shark. O&H NEVER jumped the shark, staying just wonderful throughout. Another reason I  the show so much.

I always like the Darrin 1 years best on Bewitched too. Darrin 2 seemed a little tostandoffish and stuffy to me.

Dick Sargent was in an episode of O&H. He played June's old boyfriend who comes to town, visits and is to have dinner with Dave and June only Dave has to work late. See we keep it on the O&H topic. lol

One thing I think O&H did better than any other series, with children, was letting the kids actually grow up, age mature and be the age that they are.

While Family Affair tried to keep the twins acting 5, and Brady Bunch tried to have Cindy stay 5 forever. Full House tried to keep the Oleson Twins from aging. etc..etc..

Ozzie never wrote David and Ricky to be stupid, or lacking common sense. At 26, Rick wasn't still going around saying "I don't mess around boy!"

And he also didn't write them to be older or more mature than they were. Or having them grow up to fast.

WhileI wasn't alive at the time, it seems like everyone says that after graduating High schoolso many people just got married. Being married at 17 or 18 was the normal. Well, we had Ozzie and Harriet who were always trying to discourage any notion of Dave or Rick thinking of getting married. Ozzie was always like, you should finish college first. I'm specifically thinking of the episode, where Ozzie and Harriet think a newlymarried friend of Dave who invites he and his current girlfriend to dinner are actually trying to sway Dave to marry the girl. Ozzie goes into mode of trying to subtly bring up how expensive running a household can be whenever possbile. Oh course sensible Dave informs Ozzie at the end of the show, he isn't thinking of getting married. He still has a few years left of college for one thing.

Which I'll toss in here, a little something I remember David (the real) Nelson saying in interview in the 80's for the Disney Channel Magazine.

One thing Dave could never figure out was how come Rick was in law school, working as a law clerk and living in a house while David was also married, a lawyer in a law firm and yet he lived in an apartment. haha

To answer the question from a few posts ago..."How many O&H episodes are in the public domain?" May I suggest the theory...ALL of them.....my reasons being....I know of at least my 200 personally owned PD ones, that I compare it to other collectors lists that had recorded episodes from various sources (christian broadcasters, etc) that aren't part of my PD collection....lets face it....the 1985 copyright on the shout releases and disney channel airings are just for show, probably wouldn't hold up in a court challenge. I think the key to not locating certain "missing episodes" are that the films just aren't out there, obviously the Nelson estate holds the master films, yet shout used edited versions, oh well.....but I can't imagine 100 being legally copyrighted and 300 or so falling into the public domain....Oswald enterprises dropped the ball years ago and I'm sure they are all in the public domain but the nelson estate will never admit it....speaking of David and family, I am still trying to locate him or his representation regarding copyright and licensing "Ozzie's Girls" but so far no luck and no response from Shout Factory when I asked them for possible guidance in contacting him regarding a business proposition.

I like season by season shows too. It is nice watching the boys grow before your eyes. I remember reading somewhere that Ozzie hand picked 200 shows he wanted in public domain, but I think there's more out there too.

Now for those of you that have a good collection of the episodes, whould you buy season sets if they were available? I would, unless I already had the complete season, but since I still need close to 200 episodes, I doubt I would have a whole season and then they are scattered on various dvd's and tapes.

Just to update, Shout Factory has gotten back to me, and I do now have David Nelson's legal representation info....so the process and inquiries will now slowly begin in my quest to possibily license "Ozzie's Girls" for release for a very tiny start up company that will definatley have TEEVEECLOSET in the name...lol....Again this is an extremely expensive endevor and really would just be a labor of love and we all know how expensive "love" can be sometimes...lol..... I'm thinking of possibily suggesting a limited numbered edition of either 500 or 1000 units and maybe just selling them through a website and other online retailers. I'll never get them into Best Buy....I will keep everyone posted but might have to keep mum until something can really get finalized, but if I get a definative "NO" or a outrageous license fee I'll also let you guys know. Again my wish list for releases at first is....

OZZIE'S GIRLS
THE NEW ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW
TAMMY (yes it was series for one year!)

Best of Luck Tee Vee. What a great venture. There's tons of those types of series that I'm sure many people would love to see again, and own, if even for the novelty of it.

Heck, if the 1 season of Tabitha could be released, why not Ozzie Girls or The New Andy Griffith Show!

The Boys Chrsitmas Money, is DAid and Ricky getting a job to earn some extra Christmas money. They are rather young. I think it's a second season episode.

Ozzie thinks he's helped the boys land a job as box boys for the neighborhood store. The weather is bad as Ozzie and Harriet worry about the boys in the harsh elements. They then learn that the boys never even came by to ask for a job at the store. O&H worry about just where the boys are and what job they got.

I won't tell you what the Boys were up to since the episode will be out next week on DVD and a lot of people here haven't seen it. I don't want to give away the ending, but I wouldn't mind having their job. lol

That's def a shame, cause the complete eps (soup to nuts, not cuts, all the commercials) are a REAL JOY to watch, but even a shortened ep is better than none. Hazarding a guess, probably 10% of mine a complete. God Bless the first Madacy VHS sets I got - they were complete.
