For me the top stupid things were

Wanda's Crying

Sweet daddy's outfits

J.J's hat

Gurdy eating pet food and giving her friends real food

James not going to a interview because the bus was taking too long

The plot about Keith BREAKING HIS LEG TRIPPING OVER JJ. If they were by a stairwell and Keith fell down the stairs, THEN I could buy him breaking his leg. That was the stupidest plot EVER on Good Times.

Which hat of JJ's are you talking about, Sol? I would laugh at Wanda crying, but it did get old after awhile.

J.J.'s hat must have been a popular thing in the 70's ( I can't recall) because after watching the movie CLAUDINE the other night, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs was wearing a white t-shirt and a blue cap, just like J.J's. He looked like J.J. while wearing those two things in a kitchen scene. I was like, "Hey, it's J.J."

Willona getting so easily taken in by her ex-husband was very out of character (and stupid). Thankfully, she came to her senses by the end of the episode and gave Ray a much-deserved right hook!!!! :D

OMG Solomon, you have obviously not seen any documentaries on HBO or any other cable channel that aired segments abt pimps in America. Oh man... some of the outfits they wear, make Sweet Daddy look like he is going to a funeral. Solomon, that is how the pimps looked and dressed back then.

Doesn't look like they have changed much  The last pic is a pimp in his custom-made coffin:

I found them while searching the internet under the Pimp and Ho stuff. Seriously, I seen a documentary abt pimps in America. I believe it was on HBO. They also have an annual Pimp and Ho Ball. SERIOUS! NOT KIDDING YOU AT ALL. They give out awards  This documentary showed various pimps and how they dress, why they became pimps, etc. It was interesting, let me tell you.

You are right. Sweet Daddy's outfits DO NOT COMPARE to these guys' outfits. And I couldn't post some of the other pics I found because of the females in the pics and how they were dressed. Or lack thereof.

I did not understand Gurdy eating pet food, because I feel if you can afford pet food, wouldn't you be able to afford a can of tuna, or any other "no frills" brand of can foods.

I thought I'd chime in.

-Black Jesus bringing all that luck and never being seen again.
-James ditching the interview and saying he fired the company first.
-Willona's apartment looking all modern with wood paneling in the projects.
-A hamm radio in the apartment. Where did they mount the antenna?
-Florida not wanting to do a high paying commercial because it wasn't "honest". She was hired as an actress, not for a testimonial.
-Bookman not realizing he had just bought the car back.
-Keith having zero job skills, did he get drafted into the NFL right out of high school?

^ Keith went to college - he mentioned that he'd been up for the Heisman trophy.

That was not a ham radio, it was a CB radio. They don't neccessarily require large antennas. My grandfather had one during the CB craze of the '70's and it had no special antenna. Also about Keith's lack of job skills, on one episode he mentioned that all he was taught or expected to do was to play football, with no stress on academics or other skills.

The Evans were poor and must not have had many clothes. Florida had only orange clothes, James had only a gold colored shirt and JJ had only a purpley/pink turtleneck.

Let's see...Thelma and Michael's PSA announcments written into every script. "Alcoholism is the number one killer of teenagers today..."Hypertension is the number one killer of black people"

Thelma's whining...she was a beautiful young lady and very smart but MAN could that girl whine!!!

JJ...PERIOD..enough said...

Willona and her popping in with her comments...

I agree about the Keith falling over JJ thing...that was beyond dumb!!!

The Penny story was totally unrealistic... I grew up in a NYC project single people got one bedroom. I could be mistaken but did Penny have her own room?

Thank you for the information, I never knew who the Judy Cohen character was trying to portray when I watched the episode.

I just listen to Judy Collins versions of Send in the Clowns and I like Judy Cohen's version a lot better because Collins version had more of a COUNTRY TONE to it.

And michael always wore that multi-colored pattern shirt that looks like multiple cuts of pattern were sown together. They always seemed to wear the same clothes.. :rotflmao:
