Nighthawk76 05-28-2008, 07:36 PM Congratulations ladies! party:
Congrats.
Not to be an ass or anything, though, if you graduated 12th grade in 1998, wouldn't it mean you graduated kindergarten in 1986, not 1985?
PZelda 05-28-2008, 10:34 PM Congrats.

She had to stay behind one more year in grade school (I think). So she started kindergarten in 1984 instead of 1985.
EmoJoe 05-28-2008, 10:36 PM I GRADUATED IN 1998!!!!
....from kindergarten.
i bet i just made a lot of people feel really old : o SORRY ABOUT THAT.

Oh, I see now. Sorry about that :)
Once again, congrats, y'all. I'm ten years away from being where you are and I'm already trying to think of excuses to miss the reunion.
catlover79 05-28-2008, 11:31 PM YES!! My high school graduation was June 7, 1998 at the Palace Theatre in downtown Cleveland. My 10-year reunion will be held at the end of July (and yes, I plan on going!).

 I don't blame you.
dawsongirl 05-28-2008, 11:44 PM The September 1st deadline requires that a child be five years old before September 1st in order to begin Kindergarten that year. It may vary in other states.
I think it's the 15th here. Unfortunately for some kids who just barely make the cut-off (like their birthday is the 12th or something), they are often a little behind some of the other kids in class.

lol...I work with kids who were born in 1998, so you're fine.
catlover79 05-28-2008, 11:58 PM Thanks. :)
Cool.
I graduated Kindergarten in 1985. I was born in '78. Because my birthday is after the September 1st deadline I started Kindergarten in 1984 instead of 1983. Also, I was in first grade for two years (1985-1987) instead of one year because I have poor vision and the teacher I had during my first year of first grade wouldn't make materials accessible to me, ie: larger print. The September 1st deadline requires that a child be five years old before September 1st in order to begin Kindergarten that year. It may vary in other states.
The cutoff in Ohio is in August or September - at least it was when I was in school, I'm not sure how it works now. I started kindergarten in August 1984, but I didn't turn 5 for another month, so I was the youngest in the class. I was a bit of a hyper kid and had trouble paying attention, so the teacher recommended that I stay behind instead of moving on to first grade in 1985. So I then became the oldest when I was in kindergarten the second time. Had I gone on to first grade in 1985, I would've graduated from H.S. in 1997. But things always turn out like they're supposed to, so I'm OK with it. :D

Ah, I see. Here, the cut-off is October 1, so if you're born September 30, you'll be in one grade, but if you're born October 1, you'd be in the grade below. That is why there were 4 year olds in my kindergarten class for a couple of weeks, then 6 year olds started sprouting up too. I just there with my 5 year old self wondering why I couldn't be special lol
And to be honest, I have every intent on going to the reunions. I guess I'm really just trying to see how I can become this incredible person for all to be jealous of over the next decade. I want to piss the valedictorians off just once!
PZelda 05-29-2008, 02:36 PM Heh... I was in kindergarten in 1991 instead of 1990 like the rest of my class... my parents actually made me wait one more year before I went to kindergarten. So I was 6 years old that whole year. It paid off in the end, tho, because I skipped first grade and went right to second grade in 1992. I know... this has nothing to do with graduating in 1998. Uhm, that was the year I finished 7th and went to 8th. And I actually do have a sibling who graduated from HS in 1998 so his 10 year reunion is this year also. No idea if he's going to his or what...
It's actually been 5 years since I graduated from HS so if my school did such a thing as a 5 yr reunion, I'm eligible this year.
Cactus Jack 05-29-2008, 03:10 PM I was in kindergarten in 1994 like the rest of my class too, and LOL I graduated in 1998 from something too....third grade LOL *more people feeling old*, and I never skipped a grade and I graduated last year!
