View Full Version : SAVE BACK TO YOU!!! PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION AND SEND BOTTLED WATER!!!
Sonia 05-14-2008, 09:46 PM Brian
I have it on good authority that there is still hope. Executives at CBS are very discouraging but FOX studio is aware of how much excitement there is about the show. They are aware of all the work that you have been doing and are not ready to give up on the show yet. Let's all keep working. The response has been overwhelming and has not fallen on deaf ears. Thanks to you all for this incredible effort. Don't give up.
We're not giving up. We're trying to find a way to take this a step further.
By FOX Studio you mean 20th Century Fox...because I doubt FOX will change its mind....
Sonia 05-14-2008, 09:47 PM Thank you for sharing that...we will continue the campaign. At least I will, I can't speak for others. Is there any news outlets you think we can try?
I'm on board Brian till the end ;)
Brian Damage 05-14-2008, 09:53 PM I'm on board Brian till the end ;)
Great! Thank you Sonia!
JulieSomoski 05-14-2008, 10:28 PM Okay, now I have mixed feelings. What do we do? Is CBS done and over with this show now? Should we keep our aim at them, or should we switch back and start sending water to FOX???
What are some news outlets we can do? Maybe could someone contact a local newstation in LA?? I'm trying to hink off the top of my head right now.
Sterling Holobyte 05-14-2008, 10:32 PM I don't watch the show, but I signed it anyway because I like Patricia Heaton and Kelsey Grammer.:)
JulieSomoski 05-14-2008, 10:34 PM I don't watch the show, but I signed it anyway because I like Patricia Heaton and Kelsey Grammer.:)
Thanks for the support at least! :)
Sonia 05-14-2008, 11:08 PM Hey guys, did we ever try to get kelsey Gramer fan forum on board for our campaign? Just thought about this....
catlover79 05-14-2008, 11:32 PM Are any shows done in first run syndication anymore? Syndication gave a new lease on life to several short-lived network shows like Mama's Family, It's a Living, etc. I say, keep fighting!!
Brian Damage 05-15-2008, 03:57 PM I just contacted Fred Willard. I know it is a long shot, but I have to try.

How can I get ahold of Patty & Kelsey
Thanks Brian
JulieSomoski 05-15-2008, 04:01 PM How can I get ahold of Patty & Kelsey
Thanks Brian
That's a good idea - I think the next step in this campaign is to start getting everyone to write letters to FOX, or even the stars of the show, telling them we want them to renew the show.
Is CBS pretty much a done deal, or are they still looking into this show? We should also write letters to them.
Brian Damage 05-15-2008, 04:01 PM How can I get ahold of Patty & Kelsey
Thanks Brian
I am currently looking, but I don't see any way to contact them. Did anybody email the Kelsey fan club?

JulieSomoski 05-15-2008, 04:06 PM We should all start writing letters to FOX execs, you know, by snail mail. I think doing this will be another way to show that we will go out of our way to show to FOX that they are idiots for cancelling BTY. Plus, it's a whole lot better than en email.

Sonia 05-15-2008, 04:10 PM I just emailed him. :)
What did you tell him :)
JulieSomoski 05-15-2008, 04:18 PM I emailed him as well - I wonder if he'll respond to us!
I just told him how much I loved him, and how I think Back to You was shafted by FOX. I went really in depth (probably too much), but I pretty much told him everything I would if I was standing right next to him.
I'm about to write 3 letters - 1 to FOX (anyone have their address), 1 to CBS, and 1 to Patty.
Brian Damage 05-15-2008, 04:23 PM What did you tell him :)
There are many fans who are totally upset that FOX pulled the plug way too soon on Back To You. We don't want to take this cancellation sitting down. We have organized a campaign to send bottled water over to CBS in hopes that they will see there are die hard fans to this truly great sitcom. Why bottled water you ask?
As part of the new station manager's cost cutting initiative, she eliminated some things, parking spaces, vacations, and free bottled water in the fridge!
In addition to the bottled water, we also have an online petition. We are trying to get every fan to sign this. We just need a little more exposure. Is there anything you can do to help?

That's a great email. I think if anything right now he should go have a 1 on 1 interview with Kevin Reilly at FOX. Just maybe get some of the "real" reasons why the show was cancelled prematurely, maybe even pressuring him to go back on their decision.

 That should be our new slogan: "It's not over . . . until the last bottle of water."
JulieSomoski 05-15-2008, 04:57 PM Does anyone have an email address for FOX?
blerg 05-15-2008, 04:58 PM After last nights episode, this campaign should be nicknamed "Patty and Kelsey, Doin' It Again."

That was a great episode, wasn't it? I love your avatar, by the way - I gotta get that posted somewhere on the site. It's just hilarious-LOL
Pavan 05-15-2008, 06:06 PM Spoke to Nina, CBS Entertainment President. Asked for a statement on the show. She said 99.9% chance the show is not coming to their network. Their looking for more hip younger comedies for the Monday block, such as Worst Week (single camera).
Keep sending the water, I guess. But it doesn't look realistic.

I guess there's always that .1%-LOL. I guess if in these next couple days, we rally gotta get her attention, somehow. We really gotta get more people to send water, write letters, send emails.
DO you think we have any chance at all with FOX???
Pavan 05-15-2008, 06:25 PM I doubt Fox will get it back. They have two mid-season sitcoms in production already lobbying for one slot. Both are single camera. They are trying to get the Malcolm in the Middle audience back I guess. That was one single camera sitcom that worked for them. Bernie Mac did OK, too, however. Plus I don't think Reilly likes it.
See the Fox upfront comments on the bottom:

JulieSomoski 05-15-2008, 07:24 PM I think it's a shame that no one wants this show. If they really had to, couldn't they cut back on production costs for this show? Maybe even Kelsey and Patricia would be willing to get pay cuts if it means staying on the air and finding an audience.
I really think FOX should hold onto Back to You for awhile. Just in case Til Death and the new comedies completely bomb (which is very likely for a FOX sitcom, and TD), they still have the 4 or 5 or however many unaired episodes of BTY that they completed production on. They could easily air those in their place if they had to, which is of course unlikely, but as long as they have them, they should air them somewhere.

As long as Reilly works for FOX, BTY doesn't have a chance to go back there  .

I did read where Kelsey said that their are ways around the high costs so I don't think that's a problem. Fox just used that as an excuse to cancel it.
JulieSomoski 05-15-2008, 07:37 PM Just thought I'd update: we're about 4 away from 4400 signatures. I say we either wait until Sunday night to send the petitions to FOX/CBS, or we wait until there are 5000 signatures.

Where did you read that> But, of course there are ways to cut down on custs. They could use a smaller budget, cut salaries, whatever they have to do, it could be done. That's why I don't understand why FOX keeps bringing this up as an issue.

I don't remember. Their were so many articles posted the last few days. lol I know Kelsey said they never even disgust any of that with them though.

I understand - everything's been so scattered lately. I suggested to Brian we make a sticky including all the sites and articles that have been written since the cancellation.

I'd say wait till Sunday as you can get the maximum amount of signitures possible then. I'd maybe send them to ABC and NBC aswell, I mean there's always a chance. ABC's only got 2 new shows for fall, they've said theyre going to wait till they see pilots before they make decisions, there might be a chance there if their new comedy slate is terrible.
EDIT: It's 4407 btw. I think we're getting a signiture about once every 10-20 seconds or so.

Lately, it seems like we've been getting 100 signatures an hour!
I think sending it them as well is a good idea. I'll actually print it out, then mail it CBS and FOX, but I'll just mail it to ABC and NBC. I hope that's okay with Brian, though.
Yeah, I think I'll mail it Monday morning. Then, if it continues to grow, and reaches, let's say, 10,000, I'll print a new version and send it again.
Brian Damage 05-15-2008, 09:38 PM I saw Kelsey on the Today show this morning on NBC. He was promoting the new Simpsons ride at Universal Studios. No mention of 'BTY', but he looked pretty bummed out. I could be wrong, but he did look down.

Simpsons Ride? I bet FOX forced him to go. They probably told him not to mention Back to You at all (which he totally should have!)

Fine by me, people, let's keep the signatures coming. I wish some of these guys would send the bottled water too.

Yeah, me too. But, you never who could be sending, but just isn't telling us.
I'm like really desperate for more signatures. We need to keep this petition going strong. I've been reading some of the signatures, and some have been saying that they just recently watched BTY for the first time, before American Idol, and they found it very enjoybale. We should send that to FOX, to show them that pre-Idol viewers are turning in.
Thought I'd edit this in: we're still the most popular petition on Petition Spot, as well as the most active petition! It's been like that for a day straight now!!

I was just thinking, how about going internationally? BTY was shown in England, Austrailia, New Zealand, etc. How about we try to advertise our campaign over there?
JulieSomoski 05-15-2008, 10:25 PM Yeah, don't forget, he is the voice of Sideshow Bob.
I just find it funny that of all people, they sent Kelsey.

How do we do that?-LOL
JulieSomoski 05-16-2008, 03:45 PM We're now at 4600 even, which is good, but it's defiinitely been slowing down lately. But seriously, what else can we do??
tbswatcher 05-16-2008, 04:30 PM I really hope the show can be saved since the (series finale?) was so funny, but if it is over I'm happy with the last episode we got. Anyways Brian, If it's ok with you I wanted to post a link to the petition on my forum Online Tv Forums (http://onlinetvforums.proboards81.com/).

Thanks for doing that! I'll put the link to your site on the BTY links thread (if you don't mind!), along with a few others I have to add on right now.
Yeah, the last episode was great, and it really did seem like a series finale, which is a great way to end the show if it is over (but it isn't, so we shouldn't worry!!! :D )

Iluvtv4 05-16-2008, 07:29 PM Well, that is disappointing news but doesn't CBS know who they are--to say young and hip is neither young nor hip. There is also the more important consideration when programming a comedy--good and funny. Back to You would have been a great fit at their network. Let's hope she rethinks it.
Iluvtv4 05-16-2008, 07:33 PM Kelsey has always been known as a gentleman and must have agreed to do the press for the Simpsons Ride before they cancelled his show. I know he did mention the campaign but maybe he didn't rant--which you're right would have gotten more attention. Yeah, he should of. He could have done a Chuck Darling style rant, that would have got the networks and no to mention the viewers attention.;)

Wait a sec....he mentioned the campaign of ours?
JulieSomoski 05-16-2008, 07:43 PM Id now love to see the video of him on the Today Show - I wonder if it's anywhere on the internet.
JulieSomoski 05-17-2008, 01:45 PM The petitiion has really slowed down lately. We're up to 4684 signatures. We're still the most popular petition, but we're no longer on the most active petitons list. What else can we do to get people to sign? I really wanted to make it to 5000, but now it's looking unlikely.
ryan423 05-17-2008, 07:02 PM I too think changing the campaign won't help the cause of the petition slowing down. I feel we had one great idea and to let that go without the press knowing isn't going to help.
At this point, I think we've done our best. There's not much more we can do though.
Brian Damage 05-17-2008, 08:26 PM I merged the two campaign threads. This way, we can focus on just one thread to talk about the campaign.
Ireneparalegal 05-17-2008, 08:27 PM I sent out a package of water out yesterday. I was sick all week and was barely able to make it out of bed finally.

Sonia 05-17-2008, 09:14 PM Hey Brian do you think we should send the petition to Peter Chernin of 20th Century Fox besides CBS/ABC/FOX/NBC. Twentieth ownes BTY and they are the ones that should be convinced to continue their efforts to find a new home for the show. Doesn't hurt right ...what do you think?

I checked BTY's site on ten/ Australia ( http://ten.com.au/backtoyou) but they don't have a message board for us to post the petition link :(

Excellent idea, it certainly couldn't hurt.

Sonia 05-18-2008, 08:20 AM I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but what abt a copy of the petition to Patricia Heaton's agent's office? Kelsey Grammar's agent's office? or their fan clubs?

JulieSomoski 05-18-2008, 01:51 PM So where should we be sending the petition??? I like the idea of sending it to 20th Century FOX, that way, if we send it to them, they could pass it along to the networks. And I think we should send it soon. We can't keep them waiting forever.
And there's also the issue that the petition is like 115 pages long-LOL. I tried to print it yesterday, and it told me that 115 pages were ready for print.
What else can we do to maybe get the press's attention about our campaign?? I think it's great that we've gotten word out about the petition, but I'd still like our Bottled Water Campaign to be more publicized.

Good afternoon Julie, I will be getting a bunch of contacts for us, hopefully by Monday. We will blitz them like crazy with everything we got.

Good afternoon, Brian! :)
Thankyou - I'm sure you have moer contacts than I do, considering I have close to none. Should we send out the petition tomorrow, or give it more time? We should definitely send it to 20th Century, since they are the ones trying to find a new home for Back to You.

As soon as we get the contacts, they should be sent out. I want it there before the Memorial Day weekend.
Also, if you know of anybody else who can send the stuff out, please let them do it. Moms, Dads, Grandmothers, Brothers, Sisters, Friends, Aunts, Uncles etc...
I will be doing the same and seriously urging everyone to do the same.

I've already gotten my brother to send out water. I'm trying to get everyone I know to send emails and letters.
For the petition, I think I'll send it out once it hits 4800. I really wanted 5000 even, but that might take awhile longer. I guess we'll see what happens today. I'll send it to 20th Century, with a little note attached that asks them to pass it along to the networks.

I just emailed the FOX station in Pittsburgh with all of our links. I figure, since this show is set in Pittsburgh, it might be of interest to them.

That's a great idea - I'd love to see them do a whole story on it. Too bad I don't live in Pittsburg. If I did, I'd probably have a whole rally to save this show!
Brian Damage 05-19-2008, 12:10 AM Anybody have an existing account on craig's list? I think we should plaster our petition there. I just registered, but they said no new accounts can post links.

That's a good idea - too bad we didn't think of it last week. How long do you have to be a member before you can post links??
JulieSomoski 05-19-2008, 05:00 PM BTW, I just sent my letters out. I really wrote a long one to FOX, just to tell them exactly what's been on my mind. I also seng them $5, and I jampacked the envelope with bottle labels (I had to have had over 50). Hope that'll help some!
For the petition, when should we send it now? It's up to 4900 signatures. I was kind of hoping for 5000, and we're so close, but if we wait any longer, it definitely won't be getting there before Memorial Day weekend. I say we take our chances, and wait until it does reach 5000.

I say we definitively should wait until it reaches 5000. That also means we try to push harder to get those extra 100 signatures ;) .
As far as sending the petition before Memorial Day I say we might as well wait until after that. Network executives are rushing to go on vacation anyways so I doubt they'll have time to pay any attention to it. Our best bet is to get the petition in their hands by Tuesday or Wednesday next week!

I agree - I think it may already be too late before Memorial Day. That way, if we send after, we can the executives to be serious with us again, after their vacation and all.
Plus, it doesn't help that I won't be here tomorrow to send anyways. I hope all goes well - I'm hoping we get over 5000 tomorrow, so I'll send it out Wednesday or Thursday at the latest - it definitely won't get there until after MD.
I still have the issue of actually printing it out and getting it to 20th Century FOX. It's like 120 pages long - I definitely don't have the ink, and I'm gonna have to find an envelope big enough to fit it in-LOL. I guess we'll find a way, though (I'm hoping).

Brian Damage 05-20-2008, 11:31 AM Dear Mr. Moonves,
In case you didn't know, there is a huge campaign afoot to save the sitcom 'Back To You' starring sitcom veterans Kelsey Grammer and someone you should be very familiar with from her CBS sitcom 'Everybody Loves Raymond', Ms. Patricia Heaton.
I realize that 'Back To You' is a FOX sitcom, but the fact is, it was never a right fit on that network. If there is one network that knows superior comedy, it is CBS. Over 9.5 million people can't be wrong! This sitcom is right for you. Give it a shot, put it on the schedule and I guarantee you that you will NOT be disappointed with the end result.
If you need to see our tremendous movement, please take a look at some websites that our campaign has reached. We will not give up this fight to save a future classic sitcom. You have the power to make things happen and we implore you to give 'BTY' a second, third and fourth look!
Our rallying song is 'Ain't No Stopping Us Now' because that is how we feel. There is no stopping us from getting this fabulous show back on the air. Don't you want to be the network to acquire a certifiable hit sitcom?!?
I invite you to see our movement and hope you will reconsider bringing this show to the "Tiffany Network."

TV DVD Fan 05-20-2008, 10:36 PM You guys are really going all out to save a wonderful sitcom. I was meaning to sign that petition the other day, but got sidetracked. I'm definately doing it now! I can't see how CBS can resist such fan power. I've never seen such a phenomenonal movement following a show's cancellation to get it back to the airwaves! Fantastic work, guys! How exactly does the whole "sending bottles" of water thing work anyway? Just mail a bottle of water in a sealed envelope to CBS (Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question, I've never done this before)?
You guys rock. I can't believe this thread is so long!

I read that 20th Century Fox has until the end of June to save a show that was canceled by ABC! I don't know if this applies to BTY as well but I'm hoping it does. This way we'll have over a month to push harder with our campaign

Hmmm, that may be good and bad.
Good, because we can continue with our campaign a bit longer...
Bad, because it ONLY gives us a month to continue our campaign.

Bad, because it ONLY gives us a month to continue our campaign.
You're right! Still, I doubt the actors and the writers would sit around waiting for much longer, they need to work so they might move on to other projects. So, let's look at it this way: until a week ago we thought we had only a few days ... now we have one more month...to "Get 'Em BACK where they belong ...on CBS...or ABC..." ;)
JulieSomoski 05-22-2008, 05:06 PM Let's hope that applies to Back to You as well. I'm sure it has the best chance of any 20th Century show that's been recently cancelled to be revived. All I know is that the next month is going to be a long one - now at least we have part of the summer to get this campaign going strong again.
We definitely shouldn't send the petition for awhile, then. Maybe in a week or 2 - we can't wait until the month is over, so we gotta do it maybe a week or 2 before.
JulieSomoski 05-22-2008, 05:40 PM Okay, I got an idea for more advertisement of our campaign. Our main focus right now should be the bottled water. The petition is good, but that along will get us nowhere. I'm not sure who (if anyone) has sent water lately, but if we have a month to get this campaign going again, we're gonna have to get help.
So, I was thinking that maybe we could enlist the help of a bottled water company. I know the Jericho fans did it last season by enlisting the help of a small nut company, that fans sent orders to to help the cause. They also chipped in 10 cents for every pound of nuts sold, I believe. If we could do this, we could definitely get people's attention!

So, I was thinking that maybe we could enlist the help of a bottled water company. I know the Jericho fans did it last season by enlisting the help of a small nut company, that fans sent orders to to help the cause. They also chipped in 10 cents for every pound of nuts sold, I believe. If we could do this, we could definitely get people's attention!
great idea, let me look around...

JulieSomoski 05-25-2008, 08:09 PM Should we start sending emails to these water companies asking for their help? If we could even get the help from one of them, I'm sure that would help us a lot.
I'll start sending out emails . . .

I'll start sending out emails . . .
Yes, we should start emailing them ASAP. The sooner the better, I actually started. Some points I brought up were free publicity, a background on why bottled water, links to our sites and who has already responded to our campaign, ie, newspapers, the AP, etc.
ryan423 05-26-2008, 01:45 AM WOW...the 3 of us have accomplished alot in the past 24 hours and come up with some fantastic ideas, haven't we?! LOL...I'm going to bed but will definately think of more people to possibly contact through the night!
JulieSomoski 05-26-2008, 12:41 PM Yeah, I sent a lot of emails last night as well to the water companies. I just talked about how they could help us out, and why it would be a good idea. A lot of the email addresses at that site didn't work, though, so I'll have to try again later.
JulieSomoski 05-26-2008, 05:16 PM Anybody have a mailing address for Fred Willard? I've been trying to look around the boards already to find one, but I can't :D
Brian Damage 05-26-2008, 08:20 PM I emailed a bunch just now. I targeted small bottled water companies in the Pittsburgh area.
Brian Damage 05-27-2008, 02:05 PM I spoke with a representative of Crystal Rock water, he said it was an interesting idea and we should call this number toll free!

I emailed him, still waiting for a reply. But, I'll call the number as well - wonder what they'll say about it.

JulieSomoski 05-27-2008, 04:10 PM Anybody have Fred Willard's mailing address . . . . ?????
I got an email back from Evian Natural Springs Water Company, and theyt old me that they are not currently interested in donating water, but if we feel this strongly about our cause, then we need to show our support by calling their headquarters at 1-800-633-3363 (Mon-Fri 9am-6pm ET). I highly suggest we give them a call.
I also got an email back from Dasani Water (owned by Coca-Cola Company). Here's what they had to say:
"Thank you for contacting The Coca-Cola Company, Ms. Somoski. We are delighted that you would think of our Company as you seek assistance.
Typically, requests for sponsorship like the one you described are reviewed locally by our bottling companies. You may wish to contact your local Coca-Cola bottler with your request. We will be happy to put you in touch with them if you provide us with your postal zip code. Please feel free to "reply with history" to this email.
We hope to hear from you soon.
Laura
Industry and Consumer Affairs
The Coca-Cola Company"
So, just give them an email at DASANI.SUPPORT@NA.KO.COM - tell them about our campaign, give them your zip code, and they'll put you in touch with your local bottling company. I'm not sure what'll happen after that, but when I do, I'll post!
I"m still awaiting on word from the thousand other emails I sent out.
Brian Damage 05-27-2008, 06:53 PM Thank you for you recent inquiry for bottled water service; however, we do not service your area. We provide home and office delivery in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
Brian Damage 05-27-2008, 07:06 PM I do not have Fred's mailing address unfortunately.
I would just like to let everyone know, I have emailed the mayor of Pittsburgh, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. I told him about our campaign and asked for any assistance he maybe able to provide. It certainly is a long shot, but I figure a show that is "based" in Pittsburgh, might be of some interest to him.
Sonia 05-27-2008, 10:12 PM Here is what the postcard looks like....
(Front) Ryan Church
(Back) Chuck and Kelly with CBS Address
print it out on card stock, or
you can get post card paper,
or whatever you want to print it out on,
really. :)
For the template, email me at bdamage1@msn.com
Thank You Toni!
Is it possible to have a few alternate copies of the back of the postcard with addresses of ABC/FOX/CAA/Four Boys Film/ 20th century Fox etc. I'd like to mail a few others besides the one to CBS!

Very good idea to email Pittsburgh's mayor. Never though of that myself. Let's hope he emails you back with positive things to say!
I also posted this on the other thread, but from my email from Pepsi-Cola Company, they said to send a letter to this address:
7550 Reese Road
Sacramento, CA 95820
Telling them about our campaign, and possibly asking for water donations to the CBS/FOX addresses, and they'll more than likely be happy to donate a few cases of water for us. It's the most positive email I've gotten back so far, so I suggest everyone send them a letter!

I was thinking the same thing - the water shouldn't go to waste. I'm pretty sure the guys at the Jericho campaign had their nuts go to the Hurricane Katrina victims. We'd be donating water and saving a show at the same time!
I've been saving my water labels for the past week. I gotta have at least 100 - I have a huge pile of them in a shoebox, and I'm getting ready to send them either tomorrow or Friday.

I did make one with FOX's address, I sent it to Brian also. If you get me addresses for ABC, CAA and Four Boys Films, I will quickly do some with those as well. It's not hard to change the address. I also have some to Les Moonves that I have been sending out daily.
However, check out this link. I have seen this other places as well. Apparently Kelsey Grammer is going to be in a new sitcom on ABC, or at least seriously considering it--NOOO!!!!

Jericho fans refuse to give up
By Tim Surette - TV.com

Show's faithful put up billboard in Los Angeles asking for someone, anyone, to pick up the canceled drama.
If people fought for causes the way Jericho fans have fought for their favorite show, there would be world peace, no climate crisis, and smiles on the faces of children everywhere.
Can a billboard save Jericho?.
Well, that may be a stretch, but those who love Jericho are a devout bunch. They organized the feel-good story of 2007, plotting a save-the-show campaign that actually worked. Upon truckload after truckload of nuts delivered to CBS, the network lifted its cancellation order and brought the show back for a seven-episode second season.
Unfortunately, viewers still didn't tune in the way CBS hoped, and the show was once again put to rest.
But a little thing like that isn't going to keep Jericho fans down. They still believe there is plenty more Jericho left to be shown, even if it isn't on CBS. So what have they done now?
They've rented a billboard in Los Angeles.
The giant sign is located on Ventura Boulevard near Vineland and is in the form of a faux-real-estate sign basically stating that Jericho is for sale. It promises 6 million fans and lists the phone number of Jericho's production house, CBS Paramount, and a Web site for more information.
The sign was funded by donations from fans and went up earlier this week. It's expected to remain up for a month. And the kicker? CBS owns the billboard.
But Jericho fans aren't stopping there. They're taking the campaign to the next level and are attempting to buy television ads promoting their cause. The idea is to get ads up on Time-Warner Cable in Los Angeles in hopes that they'll catch a producer's eye who will then revive the show.
Interesting idea, but it's going to cost them. According to one of the organizers, the cost to get ads on the cable service is $6,500. But as of a few days ago, the fans were already more than halfway there.
What does everyone think? Inspiring story or time to let go?

FANS ATTEMPT TO SAVE 'JERICHO' WITH MASSIVE BILLBOARD
The Hollywood billboard was purchased by fans as a part of the campaign to persuade Paramount to find JERICHO a new home
By CHARLENE CHENG, Contributing Writer
Published 5/30/2008
LOCATION: Studio City Mobile Station, 11001 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA
In a grand sweeping gesture to show that they are the most obsessive and rabid of followers, the JERICHO Rangers have launched a new campaign to help find JERICHO a new home. In addition to a $7,500 gigantic billboard featuring a "TV Show For Sale" sign (paid for by auctioned JERICHO items autographed by the cast!), the campaign also includes:
- Full page ads in Variety (4/25) and The Hollywood Reporter (4/28), costing a total $11,180 - paid for by fan donations and more auctioned cast-autographed memorabilia.
- A letter writing campaign to CBS Paramount, who Comcast is exploring a possible partnership with, and other potential buyers.
- The infamous Nuts to Nielsen campaign, designed to draw attention to the flaws in the Nielsen viewer rating system. 1,000 pounds of nuts have been sent to Nielsen so far; 700 to Variety, 800 to the Nielsen facility in Florida to protest Nielsen's poor treatment of American workers, and another "shelling" is in progress to the LA Times - just for the attention.
- Fan-purchased DVDs of JERICHO's Season 2 for military personnel in Afghanistan and Iraq. (Here's to hoping they've already seen Season 1.)
- The dream that one day fans will scrape up enough money to fund a Save JERICHO commercial on cable. Currently, the campaign is halfway to their goal of $13,615 for 300 thirty-second commercials. Contribute to the cause here

ryan423 05-31-2008, 12:04 PM We need a new strategy ASAP to get more people to sign the petition. It's definately slowed down and we need to find a way to get more people to sign it.
One Idea I had about the ".webs.com" site that Julie runs is to put up a mailing list. People can sign up for it and then whenever Brian gets word about anything or any new articles appear or site updates, they will be notified. This would also help if the strategy of the campaign ever changes.

Because I have been sending so many post cards my mail man asked me about them. He said he had watched the show and really liked it, yet had no idea it was canceled. He also said he will check out the campaign and sign the petition. So there's one more.... Every little bit helps.

JulieSomoski 05-31-2008, 03:50 PM I really don't know what else we can do. We have a little more than week left to go, which really is not a lot of time. If we don't hear something soon, I don't know what to say.
I think we should stop with the petition, though, and maybe send it in. If more people wanted to sign it, they would have signed it already. We won't stop with it - we'll definitely keep it up for awhile still, but we need to show it to the networks, either by mail or email. I think just the fact that someone from the Mayor's
ofice took the time to respond is quite a big step forward  . As for the Mayor... I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Thanks Brian! Excellent job!
Sonia 06-02-2008, 08:18 PM Okay then, I'll try to send the link to the petition to 20th Century, in hopes that they will print it out, or at least show it around to the execs. We have a week still, so we can't stop now.
Thanks Julie. You've been amazing throughout this effort  !

JulieSomoski 06-02-2008, 10:20 PM Agreed!
Awww, you guys . . . I definitely couldn't have done this alone - I hope you all know that!
JulieSomoski 06-04-2008, 05:37 PM I just got an email from Coca-Cola Company (finally!) and they sent me an address and phone number to contact their bottling company out in Oakland, CA, which is the supplier for LA. Here's their address:
Coca-Cola Enterprises
7901 Oakport St.
Oakland, CA 94621
And their phone number: 800-441-2653
Please contact them! Ask for donations and their help in any other way! It may be cutting it close, but if we can get donations from them still, it would help!
ryan423 06-04-2008, 06:01 PM A Quick FYI,
Josh Gad is fully aware of our campaign. I have friended him on facebook and not only is it really him, he has the petition uner his "posted items". Here's the messege under the link to the petition;
Hey all, as you may or may not know, "Back to You" has been canceled by Fox. If you can find the time to sign this petition the cast and I would be very grateful. There are many great episodes and stories yet to be told! Thanks all!
J. Gad

I'm willing to send him a messege on facebook asking about the campaign but was curious Brian if you wanted to write it with any questions about the show. I'm sure he'd know whats going on.

That's great news - you should definitely send him a message telling him all about our campaign, ASAP. We have a week, and I want him to know just how much we're doing for his show!

That is fantastic news Ryan!
While I can't and won't reveal who I know that is affiliated with the show. Please direct him to this thread and let him know EVERYTHING that we are trying to do. Ask him to stop by and give us the heads up on what he knows and what he can possibly add. Like Julie said, time is against us right now.

Yeah, if you can give him the link to this board, I'm sure he'll get to know a lot about our campaign :D It's probably easier than telling him about it, too.
Sonia 06-04-2008, 08:59 PM I hope it won't be a problem but I sent him a message too. Thought the more the better ;) . Also put the link of our threads here and Julie's "Save Back to You" site.

ryan423 06-04-2008, 11:24 PM I've gotten a reply from JOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And so soon! Just an hour and a half after messaging him; here's my letter to him and then his reply;
Dear Mr. Josh Gad,
I’d first like to introduce myself. My name is Ryan Schwartz. I’m 15 and from Forest Hills, NY. I was and still am a hug fan of Back to You. As you already know, there is a huge campaign on the internet to save the show and according to inside sources, the decision for renewal at FOX, CBS or any other network is June 11th. Not only is there a petition as you know of but there are also numerous websites, myspace pages and face book groups. The original campaign was based on episode 13, “The New Boss” when the character of Margret Cho takes water bottles away from the crew and staff. Fans nationwide sent dozens of packs of bottled water to CBS, specifically Nina Tassler and empty water bottles were sent to FOX. After all, they did cancel a fantastic show! As the campaign went forward, we began sending letters as well as a few dollars at a time to show how much we truly care.
This past week, fans like myself and others of the Sitcomsonline.com message boards began sending emails and letters to wattle bottle companies and distributors asking if they could possibly sponsor the campaign and send a few bottles and/or packs of water themselves. We’re still receiving numerous replies from such companies as Pepsi-Cola and Evian. An email was even sent to the mayor of Pittsburgh asking if he could donate water as well!
If the show returns or not, you should be proud to have done an amazing job on what was an amazing show! We all hope we’ve made an impact!
Below is a link to the sitcoms online.com message board’s of Back to You. There you will see everything we did and are doing for the campaign. I’d love to hear back from you, not just because your Josh Gad, but to know your fully aware of the campaign. If you could tell us anything you know that could help us, we’d be glad to hear it! You are a true talent and if Back to You isn’t it, there is no way you won’t get a hit sitcom of your own!
Thank you for your time. Congratulations on your wedding and if you can, tell Kelsey we all hope he’s recovering well from his heart attack!
Yours Truly,
Ryan Michael Schwartz

Now His reply;
Dear Ryan,
We are all more than aware of the campaign and we are unbelievably honored and amazed by the support all of the fans have given us. As far as I know, the fight is not yet over. We all truly believe we have an incredible show on our hands and it would be very sad if it were only given one season. I can assure you that the more people who join this campaign, the more interest CBS and others will give the matter. On behalf of Kelsey, Patricia, Ty, Fred and myself, we thank you sincerely and promise that should we be given the green light, we will all be back with smiles on our faces, ready to shoot season two of "Back to You!" Thank you again bud and please continue the great work.
All the best,
Josh Gad
Sonia 06-05-2008, 08:01 AM Josh replied to me as well!!!!! I have to give kudos to him for taking the time to respond to our messages!!! Love the guy and the actor :) !!!!!
Re: "Back to You"
Dear Sonila,
I am blown away by the outpouring of support we have received. I can assure you that all of us are truly grateful for all of the hard work you guys have thrown into this. I believe this is an uphill battle, but I think that the more people who let their voices be heard, the more the networks are going to have to take notice. Nothing would please us more than doing more episodes of a show that was only just beginning to get into its groove. The episodes that have yet to air are some of the funniest of the season and to be stopped so suddenly is very frustrating. All of us are ready to give you guys a show that is one for the ages. Hopefully, it will soon find a home and we can deliver on that promise. Thank you again for all of your hard work!
Sincerely,
Josh Gad
Brian Damage 06-05-2008, 09:16 AM Brian,
I am deeply honored with all of the effort that you and the others are throwing behind this matter. I can assure you, the more people who get involved, the better shot the show will have. We are all incredibly grateful for all the support and I can assure you that your pleas are not falling on deaf ears. It is definitely an uphill battle, but I can assure you that if we are given the green light, all of us will be back making more episodes the minute we get the call. Either way, I thank you for your hard work and commend your your tenacity.
All the best,
Josh Gad
JulieSomoski 06-05-2008, 04:18 PM That's awesome - He seems like he really cares about what we're doing, and he understand why we're doing it. I hope he passes those links along to other people, just to get the word out. I really hope some network we'll see all that we're doing!

I had given Julie this address and it's not right.
Grammnet Productions
Lucy Bungalow, Room 276
5567 Melrose Ave.
Hollywood, CA 90038
I sent a letter to this address and it came back, RTS.
Sorry people.
I got this info with contactanycelebrity.com
I have called his production # and Kelsey's Publicist,
Stan Rosenfield and the phone #'s are right. I called the right place.
JulieSomoski 06-21-2008, 04:15 PM I thought I'd update this. I honestly think we should keep pressing, at least until July 4th. I mean, it's better than just sitting back and doing nothing. So, I found a few links that I thought I'd post, to get everyone sending water and letters again.
Here is the address to Nina Tassler in New York. We should definitely start sending water there, since we've already sent water to the address out in LA, and the fact that this is where Kelsey will be meeting with her:
Ms. Nina Tassler
51 West 52nd Street
New York, NY 10019-6188
I have also gotten a hold of her phone number at the New York offices, which is (323) 575-2747. I suggest everyone give a call!
I have also found the email address for Les Moonves: lmoonves@cbs.com
I also have the link to the CBS feedback form. That is the easiest way to send CBS a general message requesting that they pick up Back to You:
