View Full Version : Did it bother anyone else???
RetroJessica 05-03-2008, 02:14 PM When they brought in regular male characters? It bothered the heck out of me, because the whole idea behind this show was to feature a prominent all-female cast. As soon as they roped in George Clooney and McKenzie Astin, it ruined the inegrity of the show. There were, and still are, entirely too many all-male shows on TV, and this was one of the first all-female shows, that featured strong, independent women who didn't need men to get by in life. But by the later seasons, the girls got involved in serious relationships, got married...that for me really ruined the idea behind this show. They should have just had occasional boyfriends here and there. But the idea of Tootie and Jo getting hitched to dumb men at such an early age gave young girls the wrong idea. The four girls should have stuck together and never gotten involved with men.
jo's sister 05-03-2008, 02:19 PM i don't think that was in the show

jo's sister 05-03-2008, 04:15 PM what's the look
Ireneparalegal 05-03-2008, 06:03 PM i don't think that was in the show
Two male characters were added to the show. If you are a fan of the show you would definitely know abt George Clooney being added to the show for a while as well as the young actor, Mackenzie Astin.
InspectorExstead 05-03-2008, 06:59 PM i didn't mind it as much. firstly, george clooney was cute. lol. but i think the show needed some new characters & the guys gave something new to the show. andy was always hilarious with the way he interacted with the girls. i can see what you're saying about the show centering around the girls though. but i don't think the show ever lost that; the girls & mrs. g/beverly ann were still the main focus.
now, pippa on the other hand...i didn't like so much. lol.
ZeldaGilroy 05-03-2008, 07:33 PM now, pippa on the other hand...i didn't like so much. lol.
 I totally agree about Pippa. I could not stand her. She was not necessary to the show at all!!!
I really liked George Clooney on the show. I always wanted George and Jo to end up together, but he ran off with Cinnamon and she married Rick (another annoying characater in my opinion.)
As for Mackenzie Astin, I thought he was an odd addition because it seemed strange to have this preteen boy hanging around all the time, but I did like him and after Bev adopted him he seemed to fit right in like one of the family.
Jude The Obscure 05-03-2008, 07:41 PM Well, some other characters didn't quite mesh--like Kelly or Kevin. Neither of them lasted a season.
Ireneparalegal 05-03-2008, 08:48 PM Pippa was not needed at all. I couldn't stand the character.
InspectorExstead 05-03-2008, 09:04 PM  I totally agree about Pippa. I could not stand her. She was not necessary to the show at all!!!
seriously! out of all of the characters, she was the worst one. i never understood why she was there to begin with. i know the writers were trying to get back to high school girls since the girls had all grown up. but they were trying way too hard & pippa was just plain annoying. i remember in the series finale, pippa was in a photo they took, but not natalie. that was really annoying.
RetroJessica 05-03-2008, 09:12 PM Pippa I could bare. But why they felt they needed testoterone is beyond me! I, for one, wish there was less testosterone in the world.
ZeldaGilroy 05-03-2008, 09:25 PM i remember in the series finale, pippa was in a photo they took, but not natalie. that was really annoying.
Don't even get me started on the finale...UGH! How could such a great show have such an horrid finale??? It barely focused on any of the actual cast...and I know it was a spin-off attempt, but to ignore the main characters in a finale is ridiculous. That end shot without Natalie made me furious!
jo's sister 05-03-2008, 09:28 PM Gime me a break
Ireneparalegal 05-03-2008, 09:32 PM I can understand the feeling of men being on a show where it started out all females. I never found the addition of George annoying. Mackenzie...a tad bit annoying but not so annoying like many other kids who are brought onto a show to save it. Pippa was that annoying kid.
jo's sister 05-03-2008, 09:35 PM listen tow old men females are fee can do any thing like men can do eat your heart out
RetroJessica 05-03-2008, 10:08 PM I hate men!
Ireneparalegal 05-03-2008, 10:10 PM I hate men!
I think we got that.
I don't. I love men. I hate jerks. ;)
PlayOn 05-03-2008, 10:28 PM I hate men!
prodigy child of the '60s and '70s are ya?
it was still a good show, even after George and Andy came into the mix. But then again, I'm male, so what I do know other than how to burp my name and the alphabet?
Ireneparalegal 05-03-2008, 10:29 PM I'm male, so what I do know?
Awwww, I love ya. :D

i hear you! that season finale was ridiculous! it was just weird that it wasn't as ORIGINAL cast centered as it should have been for a series finale. after nine seasons, that wasn't the best way to end it.

the finale was a good ep, but not a good finale! i think they shouldve had a two-parter finale after the two-part spinoff attempt! i wouldve watched the blair spinoff had it worked out cause i do love blair...shes my fave! ;)
jo's sister 05-04-2008, 11:47 AM balir is snobish brat

I so agree with you.
jo's sister 05-04-2008, 02:52 PM blair is not rich she doesn't own anything
Ireneparalegal 05-04-2008, 02:54 PM Blair's family owned a textile business. They gave Blair the best of things in life. Eventually that family business would be Blair's business.
jo's sister 05-04-2008, 03:03 PM do you see cousin geri
Ireneparalegal 05-04-2008, 03:05 PM Geri was Blair's cousin. That doesn't mean Geri's mother and father were rich. Besides, Geri had her own personality and I don't think cared for money the way Blair did.
jo's sister 05-04-2008, 03:19 PM balir is jealious about geri
Ireneparalegal 05-04-2008, 03:50 PM I never saw Blair being jealous of Geri at all. They were merely two different people who happened to be cousins.
jo's sister 05-05-2008, 01:59 PM ger i si handi caped it called somehtign it motive to the brian
Ireneparalegal 05-05-2008, 03:37 PM Geri had cerebral palsey. Blair was EMBARRASSED of Geri because of her handicap, she wasn't jealous.
jo's sister 05-05-2008, 03:53 PM look i know ok
Ireneparalegal 05-05-2008, 10:19 PM Well, some other characters didn't quite mesh--like Kelly or Kevin. Neither of them lasted a season.
You said it.

InspectorExstead 05-06-2008, 12:53 AM can we just move on geez
jo's sister. can you please refrain from making rude comments? i don't know if you realize it, but it does come off as rude and it's been going in several threads. if you don't like a particular conversation or agree, you don't need to comment on it. everyone can post and say what they felt about the show; that's what this message board is for. but please, no mean or rude comments. and if you are sorry, just make sure you don't keep posting the same stuff.
jo's sister 05-06-2008, 03:39 PM iam sorry that was out of the line
RetroJessica 05-12-2008, 12:39 PM I just think that if these women have stayed single, never married and never even got involved with any man, they would have made an even bigger impact on women by not needing men in their lives. Heck, I'm almost thirty and I'm still single and never dated a man in my life! I am loving my life (except for all the male friends that I am desperately trying to lose)
jo's sister 05-12-2008, 01:48 PM i say yes they are single
Czas na Zywiec 05-12-2008, 01:59 PM Geri had cerebral palsey. Blair was EMBARRASSED of Geri because of her handicap, she wasn't jealous.
Actually she was jealous of Geri, not embarassed. Everyone thought she was embarassed because of Geri's handicap, but when Mrs. G sat down to talk to her Blair explained to her that she was always jealous of the attention Geri got from her family while growing up. That's why she didn't want Geri to do stand up at her awards ceremony, cause she would be taking the attention away from Blair again.

Such a man hater. 4 young beautiful girls are bound to find men.

in the reunion movie, blair said she was jealous!
Gemini_89 03-08-2016, 12:29 AM George annoyed me, but not Andy. I found Andy funny and adorable.
I liked Jeff, him and Tootie were one of the only long-term relationships on the show and they fit together.
Jo married to ANY man was so weird to me.
