Does anyone think this new version will be better than the original?

Very doubtful...although the original deteriorated as the seasons went on. The HS years are my favorites.

I remember watching the show and thinking to myself..... this does not represent todays youth (back then) Rap music was beginning to influence the youth of that time frame and I just don't remember seeing much of that in the show. I also believe that it lost it's attraction somewhat by the end of the 3rd season.

BH still does not represent youth of today. In general, those kids (with the exception of Brenda and Brandon) were born in Beverly Hills, had cars given to them, they wore the best of clothes, etc. BH represents a certain group of youths but not a majority of them. With this new BH in the works, I think it will look a lot like the junk that is now shown on MTV such as The Hills. You will see more sex and more skin and God knows what else. BH was tame looking back on it.

I think it would have been better off if it had ended with the HS Graduation. I didn't really care for the College years. I watched the show up till the time Dylan left after his wife was murdered. I didn't really watch many episodes after that although I did tune in to the final episode.

They'll probably put the show on after Gossip Girl. They do all of that on there.

It's just too bad that Fox didn't pick up the pilot. For the sake of keeping it close to the original they should have picked it up.

Really? I thought it was just getting started then. The first couple seasons were quite corny, and I thought it was starting to pick up by season 3, and was great up until the last couple seasons.

I hate to be so blunt in saying this, but not only do I agree with this comment (the high school years were the best), but it seems stupid to me to remake a show and have it be the exact same title! It hasn't been that long since it's been off the air, has it? More than ten years, yes. But it's not like redoing a show like "Full House" that might still work (given that it had a different title and nothing resembled the original).

Anyone know what possessed them to do another 90210? Is it an "adult" version of the original, meaning that the original cast would now be parents to high schoolers, or what?

Just curious.
