View Full Version : More Edits: WGN vs TV Land omg65 05-02-2008, 04:15 PM I really havent watched the WGN showings very much but have watched alot of TV Land airings and they edit this show to hell.Does WGN do the same? RGR1973 05-03-2008, 04:44 PM Yes, sadly they do. I would dare say that any cable network you see TBH on these days is going to show butchered episodes. Maynard 05-04-2008, 09:27 AM Not that they have a choice. ethelmaepotter 05-14-2008, 12:30 PM There is a very simple reason for that: commercials. When "The Beverly Hillbillies" originally aired, the cast did the commercials for the sponsor (at least for the first few years). Back then, commercials were only about 2 - 3 minutes long and the remaining 27 to 28 minutes was show. Today, sitcoms run 22 minutes and the rest is an assortment of commercials from various sponsors/advertisers. So, they make the old shows fit to today's standards by shaving 5 - 6 minutes off the program. For the most part, it ruins the show. This is exactly why DVD releases of these old shows are so popular and necessary nowadays. Maynard 05-15-2008, 07:38 AM It doesn't "ruin" anything. It only makes it shorter. It's not like they're cutting it down to four minute long episodes, I think that would "ruin" them. Scoobiedoo30 05-24-2008, 11:52 AM I have also not watched it on WGN I just watched it on TV Land ethelmaepotter 06-05-2008, 11:16 AM It doesn't "ruin" anything. It only makes it shorter. For me, it ruins it. kooky12 06-05-2008, 12:58 PM I even notice cut scenes in FOX reruns of Simpsons episodes.............. Does ANY network show uncut rerun episodes of ANY show ????????? Maynard 06-06-2008, 09:39 AM I want to see the whole show, not extra senseless commercials. For me, it ruins it. It's not hard to be satisfied with what you have. Just think of it this way: "I would have preffered the full unedited shows. But I did not get those. Therefore, I will be satisfied with what I got." There. You're happy, they're happy. Everybody's happy. Why not take the path of most happiness instead of the path of complaining? ethelmaepotter 06-06-2008, 11:13 AM It's not hard to be satisfied with what you have.
