View Full Version : Does anyone else feel that Tootie was a little too submissive around Jeff???
RetroJessica 04-16-2008, 12:08 AM For some reason, I thought Tootie totally devoted her entire life to Jeff. Not that he was a complete jerk, but I felt like she would bow to him and do do whatever he told her to. Like, in one episode, he told her he didn't want her kissing some guy she was doing a play with, even though it was in the script, and she giggled and got the director to take out the kissing. I don't want to assume, but I always felt like Tootie became too submissive around Jeff. I could be wrong, but It was amost like she lived for Jeff and lost herself in him a little bit.
pfeifferobsessed 04-16-2008, 04:41 AM i totally agree! in "my boyfriends back", jeff comes to visit her from college the problem is that they are hanging out with his college friends (who are having sex btw) and, although, tooties isnt ready, she decides that jeff wants a sexual relationship...and when she goes to see him about it, she says something like "whatever YOU want to do"...and she says this repetively!!! nothing happens between them...and this is when they go their separate ways, but she was willing to do whatever HE wanted her to do...which i completely disagree with!!!
RetroJessica 04-16-2008, 08:19 AM I firmly believe that the woman should always be assertive and the man totally submissive. When you think that this is a show aimed at girls, what message was this sending out? As much as I hate the episode, "Magnificent Obsession" dealt with Blair being in a similar relationship with Chad, but she was encouraged to end things with him. So, Tootie and Jeff kind of contradicted that.
pfeifferobsessed 04-17-2008, 04:22 AM yes i agree that the woman should be in charge!!! now see..."magnificent obsession" was about having a bad relationship and overcoming it...blair was encouraged by her friends to get out of it...thats why i love that ep...and the blair/jo scene at the end! at first, tootie and jeff contradicted that, but then they broke up for a while! i think that when they got back together, tootie had become more assertive...and she certainly had by the time of the reunion movie...yes jeff was gone, but i think in the time during the absence of eps that tootie had become the boss!!! her progression through the seasons makes me think that she would end up taking charge!
RetroJessica 04-17-2008, 11:45 AM I believe when a man is left to make his own decisions and to think for himself, it turns out all wrong, whereas a woman is able to think for herself because I happen to feel women are superior to men, and one day the male species will become extinct thus the reason for cloning, but for the time being, men need to bow to us and take orders and not be allowed to think for themselves and allow us to make all the decisions. If they should do otherwise, we will beat them senseless.
pfeifferobsessed 04-17-2008, 05:30 PM lol! well...i think men need to learn to think for themselves, but i like submissive men! i do think that women tend to be smarter and more well-rounded then men, generally...in some cases, not all! but i dont think that it should be that the woman is superior...it should be equal with the woman barely in the lead...and stays in the lead!!!
jo's sister 05-04-2008, 01:25 PM tootie is a kid and jeff is way to old for her
Ireneparalegal 05-04-2008, 03:51 PM Tootie at times was still not mature and in this relationship, she did not seem ready to be dating Jeff. Jeff seemed much older than his actual age.
jo's sister 05-04-2008, 04:07 PM so is jermine he is older
Ireneparalegal 05-04-2008, 04:12 PM Jermaine was not Tootie's boyfriend. That was a celebrity crush.
jo's sister 05-04-2008, 04:25 PM she throw a fit to get to see him calling me crazy
Ireneparalegal 05-04-2008, 04:47 PM Yeah, she did throw a fit. But Jermaine was not her boyfriend. That is a different situation.
jo's sister 05-04-2008, 04:49 PM balir was jealous of geri she is handi caped and toottie throws a fit to met her cursh calling mr dump
Ireneparalegal 05-04-2008, 07:34 PM I really don't think Blair was jealous of Geri because she had cerebal palsey. Far from it. I can't imagine anyone being jealous of someone because they had a handicap.
ThomasE 05-04-2008, 07:36 PM I have to think about that one Irene. Did not think about it that way.
Ireneparalegal 05-04-2008, 07:44 PM Ok Thomas, I am confused. Think abt what?
jo's sister 05-05-2008, 06:33 PM i do
Gemini_89 03-15-2016, 02:30 AM I didn't see it that way.
