View Full Version : Scariest photos (non composite) shown on UM? radiohead33 02-28-2008, 06:51 PM What were the scariest photos (non composites) ever shown of suspects, victims, etc…? Drakken 02-28-2008, 07:49 PM Please, whatever you do, do not show the steamer trunk victim's photo as an answer. Please spare us the trauma. crystaldawn 02-28-2008, 08:44 PM Please, whatever you do, do not show the steamer trunk victim's photo as an answer. Please spare us the trauma. Yes that one was gruesome. :eek4: I always thought the picture they showed of Joe Owens while they were doing the update about his body being found looked really creepy. Todd Mueller 02-28-2008, 11:57 PM Steamer trunk victim wins that hands down for gross factor. For pure freaky/scary factor, I have to go with Tara Calico and the other kid bound, gagged, and looking at the camera. Honorable mention to the captured "Liz Charmichael." She should have been singing a new version of a Britney Spears' classic: "I'm Not a Man, Not Yet a Woman" nohwheregirl 02-29-2008, 01:59 AM Ha! I was scrolling down this thread veeeeeeery sloooooooowly just in case someone had posted the steamer trunk photo. Good heavens, I did NOT see that coming when I first saw it on Lifetime. I agree that the alleged Tara Calico photo is the other most disturbing. I get totally creeped out every time I see it and have to look away. LaToyaBoy 02-29-2008, 04:07 AM Tara Calico deft. gets my vote. Just saw the episode recently. Horrible. I also think I saw the "Boy In A Box" epidose on UM...not sure. Very disturbing. btw: anyone care to send me a link to whatever the "steamer trunk victim" is? Am lost. crystaldawn 02-29-2008, 12:04 PM btw: anyone care to send me a link to whatever the "steamer trunk victim" is? Am lost. I'm still waiting for the "Steamer Trunk Corpse" photo to be someone's avatar some day but I really hope that doesn't happen. I can imagine all the reported posts that would cause. Welcome aboard LaToyaBoy btw. I don't think anyone has ever posted his picture here (thankfully). It was a story of an elderly man who was found deceased in a steamer trunk. They actually showed a picture of his face, very post-mortem and it was easily the most gruesome thing ever shown on UM. They did it though in an attempt to identify the guy. They did end up identifying him and I believe his female caretaker was arrested for his murder. Here's an article I found about him: Update: John Doe has been identified as 76 year old Jasper "Jack" Watkins. It has been determined that Mr. Watkins was murdered by 55-year-old Nancy Jean Siegal. It has been alleged that Siegal murdered Watkins in an attempt to prevent knowledge of her using Watkins identity and personal information for her own financial gain. "An autopsy revealed that Watkins had died of cervical compression, with corresponding abrasions and subcutaneous hemorrhages on the neck consistent with manual strangulation. The autopsy also revealed that there were a number of fresh cuts and abrasions on the body, as well as a blunt force injury to the back of the victim’s head, which occurred sometime prior to his death. Further, toxicology analysis revealed that Watkins had toxic levels of medication with sedative effect in his system when killed." (Loudon County Sheriffs Department) "According to the allegations of the Superseding Indictment, Siegel used the identity of Jack Watkins, who was 76 years old at the time of his murder; to obtain credit based upon false and fraudulent information. She is also accused of inducing Watkins to finance and sell his home to pay her credit account debts and/or give her the money, all before his death." (Loudon County Sheriffs Department) "The Superseding Indictment alleges that after Watkins’ death, Siegel continued to divert and convert to her own use Watkins’ Social Security payments totaling approximately $89,728 and retirement annuity payments belonging to Watkins totaling approximately $10,078. Siegel also is alleged to have used his identity and financial information to open new financial accounts and divert and use existing accounts. The Superseding Indictment alleges that Siegel engaged in this scheme for almost seven years, much of it while Watkins’ was dead and his body unidentified. "Through the course of the case Sheriff’s Office investigators remained persistent in attempting to identify the victim and with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigations were ultimately successful in January of 2003 in identifying the body from military records dating back to 1941." (Loudon County Sheriffs Department) kamy 02-29-2008, 12:08 PM I'm would be so tempted to change my avatar to the steamer trunk shot, if I wasn't so dang scared of it!!! DALLASTEXAN!! 02-29-2008, 12:14 PM I don't recall the trunk photo? now I'm getting very curious. someone want to post it? ididn'tdoit 02-29-2008, 12:27 PM Yeah, I agree with all you guys. I would like to add that creepy guy in the Matthew Chase case, in the photo taken by the security camera you could see him standing close to Matt near the ATM, really made my skin crawl!!! Drakken 02-29-2008, 12:40 PM I don't recall the trunk photo? now I'm getting very curious. someone want to post it? Well I really don't want it posted on the board because I think the majority of people would find it quite offensive. I did take a picture of it (made me sick to do so, lol) and emailed it to myself so any of you out there who would like to see it just let me know your email address and I'll send it to you. Todd Mueller 02-29-2008, 01:39 PM I'm would be so tempted to change my avatar to the steamer trunk shot, if I wasn't so dang scared of it!!! Ditto! We don't need actual pictures of dead, decomposed people. Just use your imagination if you haven't seen it but want to. Nothing to be gained by seeing that unless you are looking for a low-cost appetite suppressent... crystaldawn 02-29-2008, 01:46 PM I agree but I'm guilty of suffering from "morbid curiousity" at times. Even when RS warns the viewers before showing his picture, you look away but just can't help taking a quick peak just out of curiousity. After all a lot of us must have done that or we wouldn't all know how horrific the picture is, lol. After all a lot of us must have done that or we wouldn't all know how horrific the picture is, lol. Guilty here, too. I was surfing the web late night (yeah, insomnia) and happened to glance Poland and India's versions of the "doenetwork", putting up pictures of unidentified victims. Yeah. Let's just say that some police departments don't have the resources to present digitized, cleaned-up versions of the corpses, whether the victim has drowned or been shot in the head. :puke: nohwheregirl 02-29-2008, 05:26 PM Guilty here, too. Let's just say that some police departments don't have the resources to present digitized, cleaned-up versions of the corpses, whether the victim has drowned or been shot in the head. :puke: I can't even take the cleaned-up digitized pictures. You can still tell it's a dead person! It's in the eyes. And to think I used to want to be a forensic anthropologist. It only took one slide show from a forensic anthropologist my sophmore year in college to shatter that notion. Hork!! I couldn't eat meat for a week. yolate 03-04-2008, 02:59 AM I always found the photo of one other missing woman in the Angela Hammond segment scary as hell. She has blond hair and (I guess) a ton of dark eye makeup on that made it look like she has no eyes. I always have to look away when that part comes. Drakken 03-04-2008, 12:36 PM EDITED: Out of subject. Drakken Corky Kneivel 03-05-2008, 02:01 PM Bob Dozier's pic of him bearded with his glasses on gives me the creeps. That dud ejust LOOKS evil. On a side note: When I watched the UPDATE that placed Bob Dozier and his accomplices, John and Suzanne Russell, living in Ontario under aliases I had to laugh. You want to talk about some lazy un-original aliases...Bob Dozier became Bob Johnson and John Russell became John Smith. JOHN JACOB JINGLEHEIMER SMITH!!! Now aside from that being my name too, I understand criminals, by the very definition of how they live their lives, are lazy...but come on!! Actually, the more I think about it. maybe when you change identities you want to pick one out hat is so very commonplace and mundane. Not only would a name like "John Smith" be usually glossed over when skimming pages of possible alias monikers, there would be like 50,000 of them to check up on and investigate. And that's just in Tokyo! The one of the "Tommy" guy who scammed hospitals for pills and a place to stay. There's nothing creepy about the picture per se, but when Stack-ola announces that it was taken "hours before his death" it really creeps me out. i can't help it but whenever I'm looking at photos taken of people imminently close to their death I inevitably start thinking, "Wow. This person had no idea he/she only had X to live..." or "I wonder if this is the last photo of them ever. I wonder who took it? Why?". STuff like that gets me creeped out. Even when I'm not high. Edward Harold Bell - For some reason his mug shot photo reminds me of a fun house with a bunch of mirrors. I dunno why. What I find most, well...just plain "yicky" about it, is that it unfortunately gets really close up on his greasy fleshy face. Dennis Depue might have been the butt-ugliest human ever profiled on the show. He was even uglier that Oliver the Humanzee. And now...for the creepiest of the creepiest...(at least that I can remember right now)...Edward Wayne Beverly (Dawn Disc #2). Oooooohhh boy does this sick perverted murderer scare the **** out of me. Not only by what he's capable of doing to elderly women and the gruesome writings he made that eventually led to his apprehension, but by the photo UM used of him during the UPDATE describing the process of his arrest. Does anyone remember the bad guy from Dudley Do-Right named Snidely Whiplash? This man is the human personification of that evil doing ne'er-do-well. He's got this Dick dastardly mustache thing going on, pale, almost porceline, hue to his pockey-marked skin. His jet black hair and large eyebrows don't do much for him aside from making his skin look even MORE albino-ishey. He's also got these large dark eyes with no lids that are ill-fitting in his long and conical face. **shivers** geez this guy makes my skin crawl. I want to punch him. RightOnDude 03-05-2008, 02:10 PM I'd go with Terry Hoffman's bug eyed pic and Kenneth Robert Stanton when he's at the door. justins5256 03-05-2008, 02:13 PM And now...for the creepiest of the creepiest...(at least that I can remember right now)...Edward Wayne Beverly (Dawn Disc #2). He was even uglier that Oliver the Humanzee. Hey! What do you have against Oliver??? I thought he was quite a fetching chimp. Also, Dennis Depue has always reminded me of "The Creeper" from Scooby-Doo: Todd Mueller 03-05-2008, 05:51 PM Also, Dennis Depue has always reminded me of "The Creeper" from Scooby-Doo: OMG! That is freaking hilarious! She has blond hair and (I guess) a ton of dark eye makeup on that made it look like she has no eyes. I always have to look away when that part comes. YES. Her name was Cheryl Kenney. I think it was just an unfortunate photo, bad lighting and such, but yikes, those eyes. Or rather, lack thereof. :P Dennis Depue gets my vote as well, though he always gave me more of a Herman Munster vibe. :P SitcomsAreTheWay 03-06-2008, 05:41 PM Dennis Depue gets my vote as well, though he always gave me more of a Herman Munster vibe. :P   siamesemeg 03-10-2008, 06:04 PM Tara Calico. I haven't seen the pic in more than a year, but just remembering it can still disturb my sleep. Poor, poor Tara - and whoever is in the picture, if not her. Also, don't know if this counts, but whenever I think of the reenactment of Dale Kerstetter looking up at the surveillance camera... kamy 03-11-2008, 03:36 PM Guilty here, too. Let's just say that some police departments don't have the resources to present digitized, cleaned-up versions of the corpses, whether the victim has drowned or been shot in the head. :puke: Sick facination, morbid curiosity indeed. I'm very curious as to where you looked, but I know that once I clicked on the pic I would be traumatized for days! There is this one jane doe on websleuths that I would love to be ID'd (as would the posters over there). They've digitized her eyes to show what they may look like open, trying to make her look a little more like a person, but it's still very disturbing. I was in the bathroom last night without the light on and her face flashed in my head and I freaked out!!!! I would like to see her in life, so I can give her back her dignity and stop "fearing" her. mgm711 03-17-2008, 03:23 PM the tara Calico and the other boy is sad and scarey! angelina26 03-17-2008, 10:31 PM the tara Calico and the other boy is sad and scarey! Definitly tara calico and the young boy (God Bless Them Both) and the pics of the sharon tate murders but for some reason the guy who killed the lady and shot her husband in canada in their R.V. he was creepy!!! Pics dont bother me as much its some of the reenactments that scare me...like resurrection mary and the vision of the naked woman who fell asleep at the wheel with her young son..she didnt make it but her young son did...now those freak me out...most of the ghost ones did... synthisislab 05-06-2008, 09:51 PM Yeah, I'd have to agree on the old man in the steamer trunk being about the creepiest thing I've seen on UM and I think one of the only photos of a dead decomposed corpse's face. And I also agree that Dennis DePue has to be the scariest most ghoulish looking people that has has his photo on UM along with Donald Eugene Webb. The polaroid of Tara Calico and the boy was chilling in it's implications. mphs95 05-09-2008, 04:38 PM Yeah, I'd have to agree on the old man in the steamer trunk being about the creepiest thing I've seen on UM and I think one of the only photos of a dead decomposed corpse's face. And I also agree that Dennis DePue has to be the scariest most ghoulish looking people that has has his photo on UM along with Donald Eugene Webb. The polaroid of Tara Calico and the boy was chilling in it's implications. Steamer Truck guy....eeewwwwww. I understand why they had to to show it. I've seen dead bodies and been around blood, so I'm not a wimp, but let me tell you. After seeing that pic, it was seared into my mind for days. Dennis DePue. From my home state. I have to agree.....butt ugly and creepy looking. His face just said......"psychopath". Others may disagrees, but he always creeped me out. radar1979 05-09-2008, 07:12 PM The creepiest image I can recall came from a segment in the 91/92 season. I can't remember the name of the victum but his remains were found in cave behind a school bus parking lot by one of the drivers who said it always made him feel uneasy. He investigated the cave behind the lot one day and found the skeletal remains of a man (His name was Gary somthing-er-other) first spying just the pair of boots attached to the remains. Even though it was a re-creation, it looked VERY realistic, and I think they even incorporated the image into the next season's opening. Anyone else remember this?? supersally1974 05-10-2008, 11:15 PM Yeah, I'd have to agree on the old man in the steamer trunk being about the creepiest thing I've seen on UM and I think one of the only photos of a dead decomposed corpse's face. And I also agree that Dennis DePue has to be the scariest most ghoulish looking people that has has his photo on UM along with Donald Eugene Webb. The polaroid of Tara Calico and the boy was chilling in it's implications. I always thought that Donald Eugene Webb's computer-aged composite made him look like he was Robert Stack's bloated, alcoholic cousin. I agree that the polaroid of Tara and the boy is haunting and chilling. Even seeing it a decade after I first say it, it made my head spin. When I first say the segment as a teen when it was first aired, it kept me up late that night. ... um, synthisislab, was is going on in your avatar? synthisislab 05-11-2008, 04:22 AM I always thought that Donald Eugene Webb's computer-aged composite made him look like he was Robert Stack's bloated, alcoholic cousin. Oh my god, you're right. Ditto on Robert Kenneth Stanton, the 'prolific' child molester with the huge amber sunglasses. Creeeeeeeeeeeeepy. Double ditto on Edward Howard Bell. I can't even watch the part in the re-enactment when he sneaks behind that woman in her bathroom and she sees his reflection in the mirror. IT TERRIFIES ME! :eek4: alfiechat 05-26-2008, 09:28 AM What were the scariest photos (non composites) ever shown of suspects, victims, etc…? The scariest composite I ever saw was the one of the suspect from the Blind River Rest stop murders. My skin really crawled with that one. alfiechat 05-26-2008, 09:29 AM Looking at Dennis DePue's photo is like looking into the eyes of a monster. I would have to agree with that one too. I am only sorry that he didn't get to stand trial for the crime he committed. Allierain 05-26-2008, 05:32 PM Looking at Dennis DePue's photo is like looking into the eyes of a monster. A thousand times ditto. And I completely agree with what has been said about him, but I wanted to add who I think he looks like when I see his picture... He reminds me of a demonic Fred Flinstone. ididn'tdoit 05-26-2008, 06:50 PM He reminds me of a demonic Fred Flinstone. MegtheEgg86 11-19-2008, 11:14 PM This is going to sound so stupid. I just saw the Patricia Meehan segment for the first time this afternoon. The first two minutes managed to severely freak me out because of the way Meehan just stared at the wreck she caused on the highway and didn't say anything (I realize she may have been suffering from amnesia, but it still creeps me out big time). So I'm already on edge. Then they start showing photographs of her---and I had NEVER made the connection that CRicci's avatar was the Stack-described "haunting" photo of Patricia Meehen. I never thought a thing about it before I knew who it was of, or the circumstances surrounding it. On the surface it's not really so scary, but just the thought of those eyes staring at you in the dark makes me uneasy. http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/images/PMeehan4.jpg I'm a wuss, I know. EDIT: Also, does anyone want to PM me the Terri Hoffman "bugeye" photo? I'm drawing a blank on it. MarchingTwinkie3 11-20-2008, 11:03 AM I don't have a problem looking at post-mortem pics (not that I enjoy it or anything), and I don't remember seeing steamer trunk guy when it was on TV. HyeTev 11-20-2008, 12:51 PM Without a doubt, the computer-aged photo of Nyleen Kay Marshall is probably the scariest image I have seen on UM. Something about it just chills me to the core. videohunter 11-21-2008, 12:39 PM The creepiest image I can recall came from a segment in the 91/92 season. Anyone else remember this?? i remember that segment, it was the remains of a fella i think named "simmons" , i think ? , and it was as a result of a purchase of a race horse .... and he went missing in 1974 , and wasen't found til 1982 or maybe it was 1991 can't remember...........i remember he had glasses and the segment featured a re-construction of the crime scene not the real corpse , but a very memorable segment ! videohunter 11-21-2008, 12:41 PM the stringy blonde haired suspect composit of the BLIND RIVER rest stop murderer always gave me the creeps ! MegtheEgg86 11-21-2008, 06:55 PM Just thought of another. In Sacramento Thrill Killings segment, the photo of one of the convenience store victims kind of scares me. I hate that I can't remember his name, but I recall that he had a cigarette in his mouth in the picture. Also, the photo of Angela ____ (I only remember she had an Italian-sounding last name) who worked at the pizza parlor is a little eerie to me too. I'm always mad at myself for being scared of victims' photos, but there's just something about them. TheCars1986 11-22-2008, 12:09 PM Yes I remember seeing the trunk victim when I was little and it didn't necessarily scare me but it certainly sent some chills up and down the spine. Gord McCallister's assailant composite also really creeped me out. But a little off topic my favorite photos/shots were when Robert Stack was out in the wilderness looking "fly" (as the youths call it these days) and very cache. Mr. Fuji 11-22-2008, 09:11 PM This thread is totally lame until someone actually POSTS THE PICS!!! crystaldawn 11-22-2008, 09:49 PM This thread is totally lame until someone actually POSTS THE PICS!!! TheCars1986 11-27-2008, 06:43 PM The guy who was wanted in the disappearance of John and Linda Sohus, Christian Chichester...he always looked creepy to me. Like if Woody Allen and Jude Law mated and had a son it would look exactly like him. I did see a recent article on that guy and he was arrested in Baltimore for another crime, but since he was arrested the police were hoping he would shed some light on the disappearances of the Sohus'...wonder if anyone has any other info on this. sdb4884 01-12-2009, 10:26 PM The Dennis DePue photo of him and his wife is freaky. Damm true everyone on here talks about Dennis Depue looking scary but his wife was scary looking as well. Battle of the freakin weirdo people. MegtheEgg86 01-31-2009, 03:03 PM The first photo shown of James Donald King. That guy just looks like he'd kill you without a second thought. dynoguy88 01-31-2009, 08:34 PM Just thought of another. The man's name was Thor Johnson Sr. His picture didn't really freak me out. It was just an extremely unflaterring photo. It's awful, actually. His hair is all over the place like he just rolled out of bed, he's wearing a wife beater and the way the cigarette is sticking out of his mouth looks really trashy. Surely his family could have given Unsolved Mysteries a better photo of him to use than that! At least I hope so. It's just so weird compared to all the other victim's photos which look so nice and clean. Mastermind 02-01-2009, 05:21 PM The first photo shown of James Donald King. That guy just looks like he'd kill you without a second thought. James Donald King always reminded me of Samuel Jackson with a 50s hairdo. :D StackTime 02-06-2009, 01:36 AM The military portrait of David Cox on unsolved.com is effing horrifying MegtheEgg86 02-06-2009, 12:36 PM The military portrait of David Cox on unsolved.com is effing horrifying I don't think anyone looks good in those. They're taken during or immediately after your basic training course, when you're running on three hours' sleep and DFAC food. At least the Marines have the advantage of having that huge hat covering a good bit of their faces, haha. My own are horrendous. I have big brown eyes like Cox did, and I've got that same look on my face. justins5256 02-06-2009, 01:05 PM I remember a segment that showed a surveillance photo of an armed robber in Palm Beach, Florida. He was wearing a hoodie which was tied up tight so you could only see a part of his face. He robbed and pistol whipped someone who was making a late night deposit at the bank. At the time the segment aired, I lived very close to where this went down, so it sent a chill down my spine. I'm sure this has been mentioned but the Matthew Chase ATM photos are pretty scary. Not so much the photos themselves, but the music played when they are shown - on the original version, of course. I'm sure SPIKE completely ruined this effect with some heavy metal crap and flashy editing. MegtheEgg86 02-06-2009, 03:50 PM I'm sure this has been mentioned but the Matthew Chase ATM photos are pretty scary. Not so much the photos themselves, but the music played when they are shown - on the original version, of course. I'm sure SPIKE completely ruined this effect with some heavy metal crap and flashy editing. I actually don't think the ATM photos are too scary by themselves, but yeah, with that music....ugh. The composites made from the photos really freak me out, though. MissFit29 03-20-2009, 06:22 PM I think some of the Ohio prostitutes killer victims photos were a little scary. Kathy Bonderson's wide-eyed photo freaks me out for some reason too. Mastermind 03-21-2009, 11:22 AM I think some of the Ohio prostitutes killer victims photos were a little scary. Your not kidding! Especially the composites. Especially the last composite. What mokes those photos so scary is that the faces are all starring at you. It;s one of the rare occasions in where you really get a personal feel of the human cost of serial killer. Those women were somebodies mother, daughter, wife. :( MissFit29 03-21-2009, 12:38 PM One of the scenes that scared me when I was younger was the recreation shot of Terri McClure, sitting in her car with a bloody head. I had a hard time watching that case, knowing that scene was coming! MegtheEgg86 03-21-2009, 03:58 PM I can't look at the picture of David Stone in his suit for very long, especially after it starts to zoom in. MissFit29 03-21-2009, 08:23 PM Oh, I forgot one of the scariest ones - Kenneth Frank. Seriously, it freaks me out much more than Dennis DePue. browneyes106 04-01-2009, 10:46 AM It sort of bugged me during the segment on Ashley Freeman and Lauria Bible that in the scene were the parents are going through the burned out rubble they are wearing seemingly new clothings and they aren't wearing gloves. shanejm 04-02-2009, 07:08 AM For me it was the photo of Cindy James when she was all tied up with the stocking around her neck and the wire around her ankles and hands...I look at it and see no way she could have done that to herself. I have paused that photo to take a good look at it and there is no way she killed herself. I work in a hospital and injected morphine takes only about 5 minutes to take affect and there is no way she could have injected the morphine...hid the syringe...laid down in that ditch and tied herself up with the wire like they suspect she did...the police are crazy to believe such a thing. That was a very scary picture. I don't see how she could've done that to herself, either. I've always thought Cindy James was murdered. shanejm 04-05-2009, 04:20 AM OK...now this one will sound strange to most...maybe all of you...but this particular picture has scared me for years. It's the picture of Sherry Eyerly. It's a nice picture of her...but I have always found it to be a bit terrifying. This may not make sense...but in the pic...the look she is giving..well to put it plain...she looks dead in it. Something just doesn't look right in that picture. I don't know...maybe it's just me. But I remember watching the segment when it aired and then I've watched it over and over again in my collectors set...and that picture just isn't right. She was a beautiful woman...but there was something about her eyes in that pic. Is it just me? radar1979 04-07-2009, 06:27 PM i remember that segment, it was the remains of a fella i think named "simmons" , i think ? , and it was as a result of a purchase of a race horse .... and he went missing in 1974 , and wasen't found til 1982 or maybe it was 1991 can't remember...........i remember he had glasses and the segment featured a re-construction of the crime scene not the real corpse , but a very memorable segment ! That's it...Simmons, Gary Simmons. Best I recall he was killed in 1974 and the bus driver found the remains in 1990, 5 years after he started his job. Seems to me the original theory behind the killing was that is WAS over a horse, but then they had to tag on an extra bit when an old friend of Gary's surfaced and theorized that it may have been related to black market gasoline. A little off-topic by now, I know, but that shot of the remains is still one of the best if you are shooting for "creepy. TheCars1986 08-16-2009, 09:00 PM I think the photo of Sherry Eyerly is just the result of poor lighting and 80's camera technology...nothing scary to me. Mafooz Huck (SP?)...everytime I saw his picture I just wanted to punch him, something about that arrogant smile of his. DP1 08-16-2009, 11:39 PM Does anyone remember that case about the old Hispanic woman who was considered the black widow of death because she had like three husbands who died under mysterious circumstances? I remember them showing a picture of her (it was a professional picture) and God, did she ever look evil and creepy. starmushrooms 02-16-2010, 03:23 AM The Boy in the Box picture still creeps me out to this day. And it was front page news at the time, I can't imagine seeing a picture like that on the front page. I actually remember the steam trunk murder when it first happened. There was a cleaned up picture that was circulated online in the hopes of identifying him. I did see the post-post mortem photo on UM before I could grab my pillow, LOL and yeah, pretty horrific compared to the cleaned up picture. It was the same picture as UM, just not as scary. The one that still scares me to this day is the Blind River RV murders. I was 12 when I first saw that and I was in a completely dark room. Covered my eyes after the scary music started (I knew a sketch was coming) and stole a peek. I sat on that couch scared to death of even moving for an hour after that. Something about it just scared me worse than a really scary horror movie, like you were watching pure evil. mozartpc27 02-16-2010, 01:02 PM I always found the photo of one other missing woman in the Angela Hammond segment scary as hell. She has blond hair and (I guess) a ton of dark eye makeup on that made it look like she has no eyes. I always have to look away when that part comes. I think this is the one I was going to nominate. Her eyes look like they are totally black. Creepy as hell. unidentified 02-16-2010, 08:13 PM Steamer trunk victim wins that hands down for gross factor. I've been reading through many of the posts but just wanted to clarify, is this "streamer trunk victim" the one with the old guy and they mention before it they wouldn't normally show such photos but thought it may help them identify this "John Doe"? If so, it may be a little different seeing it now, but when you get a full screen TV view of it many many years ago when such things were not so prominent on our TV screens all the time - jeez it was a lot to digest and especially when you weren't expecting it - scared the f-jeez outta me! bell83 02-16-2010, 08:44 PM I've been reading through many of the posts but just wanted to clarify, is this "streamer trunk victim" the one with the old guy and they mention before it they wouldn't normally show such photos but thought it may help them identify this "John Doe"? Ya that d-bag Greg Webb got released in 2002 because he only got charged for manslaughter Clockworkhigh 02-17-2010, 08:15 PM Mentioned before but Tara Calico's picture gives me the shakes when she is tied up. Just a horrifying picture. It's pretty bad when in the UM segment Stack tells the viewer that the scenes in this clip may be "disturbing". You think? John and Linda Sohus' picture. I guess the combination of them being missing coupled with the music really freaks me out. Don't get me wrong it is a seemingly happy picture but I have always something is amiss about Linda in that picture. Just how she is looking out of the corner of her eye The poster that mentioned Sherry Eyerly, I agree with you. A pretty girl, but again coupled with the music and the '80s photography it does send a shiver down your spine. If they were talking about her working with blind children for a living then it wouldn't freak you out, but since we know what happened to her........... No one mentioned Jill and Julie Hansen? How about that picture where they have pigtails when they are younger dressed in white dresses. I think of the twins from the "Shining" whenever I see that picture. And while there should be nothing scary about this, I feel that home video of them at the end is creepy Patricia Meehan is another picture. Someone on here (frequent poster) uses this as their avatar. It freaks me out. It was the picture of Patricia that the cops found on her camera of her in front of a mirror. (shudder) Also as much as I love Robert Stack, his face can be downright creepy coupled with his voice. It's what made the show what it was I guess bluejazz87 02-19-2010, 02:22 AM Also, don't know if this counts, but whenever I think of the reenactment of Dale Kerstetter looking up at the surveillance camera... That is by far the scariest photo I've seen on Unsolved Mysteries...if that counts. Although I don't remember the steamer trunk segment/episode. Is it on youtube? If someone could give me a link I'd like to watch it. Thanks. I've never seen those mentioned in this context before and I totally agree with you. Kenneth Frank's mugshot always freaked me out too. MegtheEgg86 02-25-2010, 10:11 AM And while there should be nothing scary about this, I feel that home video of them at the end is creepy I remember watching that segment as a kid and being TOTALLY creeped out by the home video at the end. I think it's just knowing you're looking at moving, dynamic footage of two people who are "supposed" to be static, regulated to a couple of still pictures or something. I mean, they're dead. Your mind doesn't register it easily. And that freeze frame they do at the end is creepy as hell. Patricia Meehan is another picture. Someone on here (frequent poster) uses this as their avatar. It freaks me out. It was the picture of Patricia that the cops found on her camera of her in front of a mirror. (shudder) I didn't sleep for days because of that picture. Oooga Chucka 02-27-2010, 11:03 AM Lots of good ones on here (Tara Calico, Dennis Depue, Matthew Chase ATM guy). I'm surprised I haven't seen Dub Wackerhagen, though. I think it's her eyes, they almost seem to be starring at something beyond all human comprehension. Amelora 04-14-2010, 07:50 PM Hey Amelora, Which story was this? Sounds creepy, lol Johnathan "John" Brown (aka Thumper) was a meth cook who had labs set up all over the country. He was a member of a gang called the 'heshens" (sp?). One of the labs the police raided was thought to have enough chemicals and equipment to produce over $1,000,000 worth of meth. He was found when a UM watcher called in a tip. unidentified 04-14-2010, 08:58 PM Jeffrey Digman - the marine shot dead in the bedroom of his home and they are trying to determine if it is suicide or murder. Dunno what it is about it, but when UM is showing their video remake of the scene it's no big deal. But for those few seconds where it switches to the real, gritty, washed out looking crime scene photo of the body laying there lifeless on the bed - that just sent shivers right up my spine and I can still picture it to this day. kamy 04-16-2010, 06:11 PM Has the steamer trunk corpse photo of Jasper Watkins been mentioned yet? Sooooo scary!! I was so shocked UM showed it, but then again, what else could they do when at the time he was unidentified!! That picture has finally faded from memory, but I still remember the feeling it gave me!!! dynoguy88 04-16-2010, 07:20 PM In the spirit of this thread, here's the pic of Dennis and Marilynn Depue... http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/DenDep.jpg MegtheEgg86 04-17-2010, 01:10 PM That photo is seriously about a million times worse when blown up like that. Apostapler 04-17-2010, 02:00 PM How about now? http://i323.photobucket.com/albums/nn461/puma_rumor/DenDep4.jpg dynoguy88 04-17-2010, 06:58 PM The Cindy James segment - whether you think her harassment was staged or not - featured some pretty scary photographs. The note was found by a security guard on April 8, 1989 - exactly 2 months before Cindy's body was discovered. http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/JamesPB1.jpg This photo of Cindy was featured in the original UM segment but Lifetime cut it out. This was taken after one of her attacks. The picture is not only haunting but incredibly sad. She looks as though the life has been completely drained from her. Look at this picture and then compare it to my avatar photo. What a world of difference. http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/JamesPB5.jpg Cindy's body was discovered bound and gagged in the yard of this abandoned house. Whether it was suicide or murder, this is just an incredibly creepy looking place even during the daytime. http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/JamesPB4.jpg Probably the scariest photo featured during the segment is the shot of Cindy's dead body...which I was always surprised UM featured. Given the subject matter and the fact that Cindy's sister Melanie posts on here from time to time, I figured it was best not to post it. mphs95 04-24-2010, 03:24 PM Ditto! We don't need actual pictures of dead, decomposed people. Just use your imagination if you haven't seen it but want to. Nothing to be gained by seeing that unless you are looking for a low-cost appetite suppressent... Yeah....the Doe Network has actual pics of people that are obviously autopsy photos. You lose your appetite and it makes it very hard to sleep afterwards..... mtaylor72 03-21-2011, 11:11 PM I've always found the following UM photos kind of creepy/scary: http://i51.tinypic.com/2hn1g6q.jpghttp://i56.tinypic.com/qx5rpv.jpghttp://i55.tinypic.com/2vi3tza.jpg[img] Charlie99909 03-21-2011, 11:55 PM Whoah where did the dead body shot come from!? Also, the picture found in Florida in the Tara Calico case (considering the circumstances), and picture of Dennis Depue that was posted just on the page before. Can barely look at either of them. I can't remember what case it was in, but the first photo they show of a man named Chichester made me feel uneasy. RobinW 03-22-2011, 10:03 AM I can't remember what case it was in, but the first photo they show of a man named Chichester made me feel uneasy. He definitely looks creepy, but I always laugh at that thought somebody took a surprise photo of him when he wasn't expecting it and he was none-too-pleased. I just visualize him chewing out the photographer and telling them to hand over the camera right after this was taken! Corkys-Place 03-22-2011, 11:30 PM This might sound a little strange, but as a youngster watching UM I always though the "poorer quality/blurry" photos of Victims and Perpetrators added to their creepiness factor. I find the Steamer Trunk photo the worst ever featured on UM, with Judy Himes being a close 2nd, and the woman linked to the Angela Hammond case who seems to be missing her eyes a distant 3rd. Kind of strange, but I was also creeped out by the final picture they showed of Marie Hilley, where she was hiding behind something and you could only see her eyes. Creeeepy. gaf 04-06-2011, 12:41 PM Funny this thread came up. Over the weekend I was watching my UM DVDs and the DePue segment came on. I got a phone call and paused the DVD right as the picture of Dennis came on. So there I'm trying to hold a conversation on the phone with this person while having this scary photo staring at me. I did OK at first, but the longer this went on I started getting creeped out. I tried turning my head away but it didn't work. I finally had to leave the room and start the conversation over because I had stopped paying attention to the person who called me. It was wild. BlunderbussDeath 04-07-2011, 11:42 PM The picture they showed of him is hands down the scariest picture I've seen in all my time watching Unsolved Mysteries! Ever seen his picture on a BlackBerry? I have. Last night as I was getting ready for bed, I noticed I had an e-mail from Sitcoms Online. I clicked on the link and, oh, there's Dennis Depue's picture filling up my BlackBerry screen. I hurriedly scrolled up, partially to read the comments above it but mostly to get away from the picture. I used the zoom tool so I could read the comments, and for some reason it scrolled down and zoomed directly over his right eye. Try going right to sleep after that. After the Tara Calico photo, that picture of the Depues is hands down the most unnerving real photo ever shown on UM. I don't normally say things about personal stuff on the Internet because their friends or relatives could see it. They've been through enough without having some anonymous guy on the Internet criticizing their loved one's photos, but there's no getting around this case. That looks like a professional photo too. Usually you get several different shots and you pick the photo you want—that was the best one? What did the others look like? When I first saw that picture years ago, after immediately closing my eyes and trying to scrub it from my brain, my first thought was that it was a church directory photo, since those are always disasters. But since none of the kids are in that photo, I'm not sure. rez 04-08-2011, 01:55 PM I just watched the "steamer trunk",segment it wasn't as bad as I imagined. Don't get me wrong the picture was disturbing but it's not the worst that I've seen so far. In my country back in 96-99 there was a "finding victim's identification" kind program, most of them are traffic accidents victims. The show was similar to that segment the only diffrence was that they didn't gave any warning. I saw those post-dead pictures not 1 but 3 times , the doctor didn't even try to sew up completly the torned up face, it gave me nightmare every single night. Even now it still give me a chill SheRaaa 09-17-2012, 06:42 PM I just saw the "little mummy" segment and Oh. My. God. those photos of the little mummy (and the x-rays) are very, very unsettling. Another scary photo is the one in the Gurdon Light segment, where RS says a UM photographer captured an image of the light. In the picture, the light is RED and soooooo freakin' scary. 1990 UM fan 09-18-2012, 02:52 AM Definitely the steamer trunk one (Jasper Watkins). I do not want to see it or anything like it again in my lifetime. Here are some others that scare me: - Christopher Chichester (Christian Gerhartsreiter) - Dennis and Marilyn Depue - Guy who shot Harold and Thelma Swain in their church - Andolina Gonzalez's psycho-faced picture Speaking of Andolina Gonzalez, here's the witch's photo http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/402654_445389402178554_1098762282_n.jpg DemonicDwarf 09-26-2012, 12:37 AM In the spirit of this thread, here's the pic of Dennis and Marilynn Depue... http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/DenDep.jpg The look like extras off The Munsters or something  9DeuceCad 10-09-2012, 08:54 PM Hahaha! The other night at work I grabbed my co-workers smart phone when she stepped away, and I paused it right on that picture of Dennis Depue and his wife and left it for when she came back... PRICELESS! How much did she freak out? 9DeuceCad 10-10-2012, 12:04 AM How much did she freak out? She sat there and stared at it for about 15 seconds with this look of utter disgust and confusion. She may have vomited in her mouth a little. I do the same every time I scroll down the page and his ugly mug goes wizzing by... WishfulDreamer 06-11-2013, 08:50 PM I always thought that Donald Eugene Webb's computer-aged composite made him look like he was Robert Stack's bloated, alcoholic cousin. :rotflmao: I am at work right now trying to suppress my tears of laughter. I will no longer find his picture scary now. As for scary photographs: The shot of Marie Hilley where you just see her eyes. The guy who killed the motorcyclist when they flash the update. His eyes are extremely wide and it gave me such a shock! MegtheEgg86 06-11-2013, 11:07 PM A few more scary "bug eyed" pics: -Ulysses' Roberson's booking photo -Walter Ogrod, the man who went to prison for Barbara Jean Horn's murder MissFit29 06-12-2013, 03:30 PM Any of the picture where they show the aftermath of a fire are really creepy too. It's creepy in the reenactments, but even more so when they show actual photos. Case in point: Aileen Conway's car The shack where Scott Johnson was killed Kristi Kreb's car David Wayne Mills' car (murderer of John Martin) I'm also adding the photos of Robert Hamrick's patrol car to this list. 9DeuceCad 06-13-2013, 10:48 PM This... 2xJ 06-14-2013, 12:06 PM This... Thinking about how Lee's friends said the guy was spitting at them and barking like a dog. :seeya: MegtheEgg86 02-17-2014, 11:34 PM http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111001180813/unsolvedmysteries/images/2/2a/Brenda_penniger.jpg |
