Not to mention wasn't there one episode Walter hit Maude and she got a black eye or is that my imagination?? It's been so long since I've watched this show so I wouldn't really remember.

Yes, in the first ep of season 2, Walter suddenly had a serious drinking problem...at least, it suddenly became a problem, then. He hit Maude. This particular ep always affects me deeply. It is a favorite, but not one I can easily watch over and over. I like the more serious ones, I think they balance out the silliness of others very well, and makes the characters come alive in imagination better than they would otherwise.
