I always found it funny how they worked using the hot tub into the episodes. Ok, I accept that Cheviot Hills was an upscale residential neighborhood with pools and hot tubs. I always wondered how Norman Fell and Jeffrey Tambor felt about having to do shirtless scenes in a hot tub  I mean, for Norman Fell, of all people!

The part I didn't get was the SHARING of the hot tub between the Ropers and the Couple next door. Why would I want to share a hot tub??-lol

Not too mention HOT tubs are notorious for spreading germs, viruses, etc.

"Jerry, nothing can live in there. That's super heated water!!"

I found those 2 girls that join them were really hot. The on on the left did not look like from that time period, more modern of todays age.

Larry jumped in the hot tub with one of those girls while wearing a suit when he guest starred on the ropers-lol He told her he was a Talent scout for MGM

Larry would tell any girl anything, if it meant him scoring some booty! LOL

I may tweak the truth a little about my job but not tell a girl that I'm doing something that's CLEARLY a lie-lol

I found it interesting that he said he was a Talent scout on the Ropers and a episode of Three's Company

They needed shots of women in bathing suits - very moderately sexy scenes. I thought Norman was funny in the tub, too - he was once so awkward with a pretty girl and made an imitation of a motor boat...

^^What female characters in this series appeared in a bathing suit?

There were at least Ann Brookes(Patricia McCormack), a stewardess who lived in the building, Helen Roper, Helen´s sister Ethel... Watch some of them on my YouTube channel: FELLNORM.

So far, I have only seen the Adoption episode with the now-deceased Lois Areno in a bikini.

I remember seeing Norman Fell, during his time on Three's Company and prior to The Ropers, appearing "naked" as a nudist on the 2nd season premiere of Charlie's Angels, which was set in Hawaii:

My comment was that Norman wasn't the guy you wondered "gee, when are they gonna ask him to do a shirtless scene?"

I mean, yea, you could see John Ritter or Richard Kline being asked..both of them were young and good looking (and it being the 70s when hairy chests were very in vogue).

I agree with you, a hot tub really didn't make much sense in the Ropers situation.

I just feel it would be far more funnier situations if a hot tub was on Three's Company instead of two older people.

I noticed one thing that differentiated The Ropers from 3's Co--they didn't rely on the every plot is basically a misunderstanding. Maybe that's what affected long term viewership.

That and the fact that they were from a show that was fun to watch which meant the viewers preferred to stick with the parent show and not bore themselves with the spinoff

It's a shame a hot tub wasn't a normal thing on Three;s Company, can you imagine falling in the water on occassion? LOL
